Im assuming the agent is just driving a hard bargain. Not sure what top club is prepared to pay him silly wages or guarantee playing time. His best chance for minutes is at Villa, unless he wants to drop down a level in terms of league or club profile.

How did you watch the replay?
Found it on YouTube as UEFA TV did not seem to have it archived.

Just watched the replay of the U19 match. Thought the three Villa youngsters bossed it.

And he would have better options than a £5m gig in Turkey than a guy who has in recent years been linked with a £50m transfer to UTD.
They few times he played for us, he looked pretty decent. Wasn't a fish out of water like Drinkwater. You'd think there was a French club looking to sign him - especially with all the talent that leaves that country every year that needs replacing. A bit of an enigma his situation.

Lion without circle or shield looks very good, but once you add the circle around the rampant lion it and all the other round badges look like a lame inferior copies of the old round badge.
The trouble is as good as the rampant lion looks without a circle or shield around it, like that there isn't really anything that makes it unique to us, as it would basically be the lion from the Cheseal and Scotland badge.
This was important take away from my last post 'The new Buck is only looking ahead, an imposing figure determined and focused on the path in front of him', I wouldn't be surprised if they did something similar with us, change the Lion so it's looking ahead, but it's hard to make that unique as there are so many other companies that have logo featuring a lion facing outward.
How about saving the Lion without circle just for the kits and then using an alternate logo - perhaps interlocking AV - for everything else (e.g. merchandise and social media)? In a way the reverse of American baseball teams who use letters on their caps and a logo for their other branding.

Two goals for Miami last night. First was a gem of a goal.

I do think midfield needs refreshing, personally I hope Luiz moves on.
I'm in the same boat but the other way around - keep Luiz, sell McGinn.

This with no star would be perfect
Agreed, only if it were not basically the template for the City Football Group logos. Would like ours to be a bit unique.

We dont need F.C. after Aston Villa on the badge as there is no other entity that refers to itself as Aston Villa.

Surprised at the very reasonable prices Newcastle are getting their transfers. Must have some good negotiators.

I wouldn't mind something unique or edgy, but worry they will get it horribly wrong, thus prefer a safe round badge with Aston Villa on it.

Bayern Munich do
Just visited their website. Dont see any stars on the logo. Maybe just on the kits.

Always thought they could do something really cool and unique with an interlocking “AV” rather than trot out another city group-esque round badge.
Think this would be good for an alternate logo that can be used on the back of the jersey and merchandise.

Reading the FAQ after the article it's pretty apparent they will go with a round badge, Aston Villa and change the the lion to a darker shade so that it is more visible.

The club wanting to highlight their biggest historical achievement, and one only a select number of English Clubs has achieved througout the history of football, should be downplayed by the club?
It's not exactly the Trillion Trophy or the Peace Cup is it?
Good thing you aren't in charge of marketing. There is a bigger picture, aside from just " bants " here.
We've won FA Cups, League Titles and League Cups too. Think the star highlighting the European Cup is small time. Basically just us and Forest have it on our badges. It's almost saying that we he need to cling to this history cause we have nothing else. Notice that Liverpool, Chelsea, ManUtd don't have stars on their badge.

If Villa are playing hardball I am OK with that. We've been soft negotiators for far too long.

Does AVTV come with the various Villa membership packages? It says "Exclusive Content" but not sure if that includes AVTV.

How is £17 million overpaying for Traore? 7 goals and 7 assists in the league in his first season. And not just his numbers, he oozes class on the ball.
Because players are not bought on stats alone. Why is there not a queue from other clubs to buy a player with 7 goals and 7 assists?

Are people saying we need to buy another winger/attacker to replace him? No. He's a quality backup player to have in case of injury. Coutinho, Buendia, Bailey, Traore. That is a quality selection of players with great depth. Who else in the Premier League has depth in that position of that quality?
Arsenal - Saka, Smith-Rowe, Martinelli, Pepe
Chelsea - Mount, Havertz, Ziyech, Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi
Everton - Richarlison, Gray, Townsend, Iwobi, Gordon
Leicester - Barnes, Perez, Maddison
Liverpool - Diaz, Jota, Salah, Minamino
Manchester City - Grealish, Sterling, Mahrez, Foden
Manchester United - Rashford, Sancho
Tottenham Hotspur - Son, Moura, Bergwijn, Perisic, Gil
West Ham - Vlasic, Fornals, Bowen, Benrahma, Lanzini
Wolverhampton Wanderers - Hwang Hee Chan, Neto, Traore, Podence
Our choices in these attacking roles are as good as any of those clubs, bar one or two, and the depth that Traore gives us is something that most clubs must envy. As our 4th choice his competition from other clubs is certainly no better. We also have Trezeguet and El Ghazi who should be moved on as a far greater priority.
If a big offer for him comes in then sure, sell. If Gerrard plans to bring in another attacker, sell. Otherwise losing him, Trezeguet and El Ghazi leaves us a little light in that area.
If he is such a great option, then wouldn't other clubs be coming in for him? Where are the 10M bid by the likes of Southamption, Brighton and Palace?

It's more common for players to run down their contracts these days. I've no issues having him one more year and him potentially leaving on a free.

If they buy him, which they probably won't, they'll pay the sort of fee we should have to Lyon.
Ridiculous waste of money.
Exactly. This is what the critics like me were saying. We could have gotten him a lot cheaper. Lyon - the club, and not just their fans, were desperate to get rid of him. At 6-8M he would have been worth a shot. At 16-18M we paid he will go down as a bust.

Bailey, McGinn, Cash, Coutinho, Archer on the scoresheet this international window. Ramsay with MOTM performances. Martinez lifting the Finalissima. Digne and Kamara starting for France. How can you not be excited?

Admire his grit and I'm sure he is great in the locker room, but just dont see him fitting in with the possession style football SG claims he wants to play. He still provides good squad depth, so don't see him leaving unless we bring in 2 more midfielders.

Summer Transfer Window 2022

I'm relaxed.
The squad we currently have is good enough to get us in the top half. A few more additions and then we may have a realistic chance at top 8.
