We are in a death spiral, aren't we? Our poor form will not attract any decent players and our decent players who Gerrard refuses to play want out.
-
Can't blame Luiz if he wants out. The World Cup is coming up and he is on the bench for a struggling side.
-
Feel he has generally done a good job but has gotten two major things wrong. Panic buying Danny Ings, and possibly Bailey, when selling Grealish without a clear plan on how they would fit our system. Appointing Gerrard who plays a system completely different than the one our squad and youth setup was geared for. Basically he interfered in areas that should be left to the sporting director. Makes me think Lange is fairly weak.

It's a real head scratcher. Came to us from a very decent club, played in the Champions League, looked solid when he has played, yet he is nowhere to be found on the match day squad.

again you have made up a lot of stuff here that Sanson hasnt done. The fact Percy is highly connected at Villa means this leak and article has been approved and accepted by somebody higher up and not by a midfielder in the bomb squad
He was training with the first team last Friday on the video posted on AVTV. Maybe you are thinking of Guilbert.

Coming out of preseason most fans were generally positive about SG, the squad and upcoming season. I am thus not going to slate our management for hiring Gerard or sticking with him to start the season. Now that he has been fully exposed, time to make a change. Just like Spurs did with Nuno last season.

As soon as Gerrard is sacked and we have a proper manager, this thread will be gone.
I really hope he is gone before the Leicester game, or else we would more or less give away 6 points against Leicester and Southampton.
Yeah - but after we finished 11th under Smith, never thought we'd see a relegation thread in the main Villa forum.
-
I'm not greedy. Just need a manager that can get us in the top half consistently. After that, we can start dreaming of Europe and trophies.
Poch, Potter, Rogers all certainly fit the bill

Here’s the follow up tweet.
Some at Villa want to support the manager after sacking a manager less than a year ago, but some want to act quickly to appoint Pochettino before he becomes unavailable. The next few weeks will be crucial for Gerrard
A bit too detailed for it to be credible. If it was just Villa has made contact with Poch's reps I could believe it.

Thought the days of having this thread were over. Uffffff!

Seen a fair bit of this lately, it’s a good squad that we have, but there are certainly a handful of first team players who simply are not good enough for the goals that have been set.
Fair enough if you mean the goal to finish in Europe. They certainly are good enough to beat Bournemouth! Pretty much all our first team players would be attractive to any team outside the Top 6 clubs.

Is Beale playing a similar system to us at QPR?
Surprised Critchley has not flagged our issues to Gerard. Or is SG stubborn?
-
Along with Everton and Bournemouth, at this moment we are one of the three worst teams in the PL.
-
We have no tactics
-
The simple question is - can he turn things around? Not sure what would lead anyone to believe he can.
-
Lack of chances really concerning. Can't see SG turning things around.
-
West Ham already matched their first half in the first 2 minutes.
-
Newcastle look like the Saudi National Team!
-
I've been negative all morning, but must say that was a really solid half from us - granted West Ham are in a shell.

West Ham have been dreadful but we are still just dropping balls into the box and hoping for the best.
Disagree. We are playing the balls into the channels where there is a lot of space.
-
West Ham are out of sorts....at least early
-
We seem to lose to teams when they have major injuries (e.g. first match against Leeds last season when Kalvin Phillips was missing), so won't accept Mings as an excuse. Managers and TDs need to be prepared for different selection scenarios.
-
Poch or Potter. If they can't produce results then at least I can definitively conclude that our club is forever cursed.
-
Was hoping we'd be the next Spurs (in terms of closing the gap with the big 4/5 clubs), unfortunately we're turning into another Everton.

Said it in another thread - think Lange might just be a yes man for Purslow.
