How is £17 million overpaying for Traore? 7 goals and 7 assists in the league in his first season. And not just his numbers, he oozes class on the ball.

Because players are not bought on stats alone.  Why is there not a queue from other clubs to buy a player with 7 goals and 7 assists?

Are people saying we need to buy another winger/attacker to replace him? No. He's a quality backup player to have in case of injury. Coutinho, Buendia, Bailey, Traore. That is a quality selection of players with great depth. Who else in the Premier League has depth in that position of that quality?

Arsenal - Saka, Smith-Rowe, Martinelli, Pepe

Chelsea - Mount, Havertz, Ziyech, Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi

Everton - Richarlison, Gray, Townsend, Iwobi, Gordon

    Leicester - Barnes, Perez, Maddison

Liverpool - Diaz, Jota, Salah, Minamino

Manchester City - Grealish, Sterling, Mahrez, Foden

    Manchester United - Rashford, Sancho

Tottenham Hotspur - Son, Moura, Bergwijn, Perisic, Gil

West Ham - Vlasic, Fornals, Bowen, Benrahma, Lanzini

Wolverhampton Wanderers - Hwang Hee Chan, Neto, Traore, Podence

Our choices in these attacking roles are as good as any of those clubs, bar one or two, and the depth that Traore gives us is something that most clubs must envy. As our 4th choice his competition from other clubs is certainly no better. We also have Trezeguet and El Ghazi who should be moved on as a far greater priority.

If a big offer for him comes in then sure, sell. If Gerrard plans to bring in another attacker, sell. Otherwise losing him, Trezeguet and El Ghazi leaves us a little light in that area.

If he is such a great option, then wouldn't other clubs be coming in for him? Where are the 10M bid by the likes of Southamption, Brighton and Palace?

If they buy him, which they probably won't, they'll pay the sort of fee we should have to Lyon.

    Ridiculous waste of money.

Exactly. This is what the critics like me were saying. We could have gotten him a lot cheaper. Lyon - the club, and not just their fans, were desperate to get rid of him. At 6-8M he would have been worth a shot. At 16-18M we paid he will go down as a bust.

  4. Admire his grit and I'm sure he is great in the locker room, but just dont see him fitting in with the possession style football SG claims he wants to play.  He still provides good squad depth, so don't see him leaving unless we bring in 2 more midfielders.

  5. Seems very low number given that we bought him for just a shade under that. Since he joined, he has been a consistent PL player and our player of the season. Was hoping for 20-25M

15 million for Davis???  15 million for a striker who hasn't scored goals throughout his career until the past 6 months?  15 million is highway robbery, IMO...

He helped Forest in a prominent way get promoted. Definitely has earned NFFC more than 15M.

  7. Saw a comment that Keinan's mom said to a Forest fan that he might be priced out of a move to NFFC.  That's a good sign that our board is playing hardball - exactly what they should be doing.

  8. Really want to see SG ruthless with our lineup. Play the best team, not the best players. If Ings & Watkins or Coutinho & Buendia don't work as a partnership, then leave one of them on the bench! There are now 5 substitutes, it's a long season and injuries will happen. Everyone will eventually get their turn.

I will drive him all the way to Rome for £20 million

Find it really annoying when fans write this. Have read similar for Targett, Kienan, Trez, etc. We need to get maximum return on all our players. Bournemouth got 24M out of us for Mings, who was probably valued at 5M at the start of his loan. We need to be equally ruthless when doing business.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

As much as I think he would thrive there, he is probably what would launch them up to the next level.

Difficult to play the "dont sell players to your rivals" game. Need to focus on strengthening your own squad.

I’ll miss him if he leaves, always felt like something unexpectedly good could happen no matter how poor he was playing.

That's exactly the issue with him.  We need players that are consistent and are contributing every moment they are on the pitch. Not ones that give you some magic every now and then and go missing for large spells of a game.

Just got to the end of this thread, jeez. That was nothing like the Wolves 2-3. This is what Man City do. Fwiw, I thought we played well in what was essentially for us an end of season dead rubber.

Actually if you look at the stats coming back from a two goal deficit to win is quite rare. Think Man City have only done it a handful of times in the last decade.

Would be very happy with a midfield squad of

    Ramsey/Mcginn

    Bissouma/Luiz

    Kamara/Nakamba

I think sanson could probably work well with kamara as they have played together but surely he is being sold with Young above him in the midfield pecking order.

Really feel the midfield needs a shake-up with one of Luiz or McGinn departing.

  14. This was a season of excuses. With a full preseason, Gerrard solidly in charge and some major signings to support our fairly strong squad, next season there are no excuses. We should be crossing the 50pt mark and in the top 8.

  15. I counted 5 of his crosses being blocked tonight. Either we need to sign the Burnley LB or Cash needs to work on getting the ball in. Not taking away anything from his performances across the season. He has been very good.

  16. He gained experience but we need immediate results.  Hard to imagine that Sanson or Naka (thus pushing Luiz forward) would not have brought more to the game.

Unless they are an absolute Rooney or Owen type phenom, think our highly rated youth players need to be loaned out until around age 20 or 21. You can't talk about challenging for Europe and then also be embedding teenagers in your squad.

I don't know how people can watch us and not think we desperately need a striker.

It's not just taking chances, it's having a player that can cause panic and uncertainty to the centre halves, whether it's being able to come short and take the ball into feet use strength/pace, peel off the last man, we've got nothing.

Who is gettable that is better than Ings and Watkins and more of a prospect than Archer?

Think we need wingers, but SG doesn't play that type of system. Maybe that's the issue?
