I actually thought a couple of his contemporaries from the unders may have broken through before JJ, you just never know how it's going to pan out. We are in a good place with the kids and we've added another this week. I do not think this is going to stop either, having our very own conveyor belt of talent is something we have neglected for ages.

Who?  He is 2 years ahead of the FA Youth Cup winning players.

  2. Given the games in hand, I feel the top 6 will include West Ham, Spurs and Arsenal.  ManUtd, Wolves, Leicester and possibly Brighton and Villa will be fighting for 7th place.  Anything lower than 11th will be really disappointing.

I'm a big fan but think that if Gerrard is here for anther couple of seasons minimum SJM is one of the players that may find themselves in danger of being replaced. He's a huge fan's favourite but the numbers that he produces are not good enough if we're being clinical. I hopehe can push himself even further and become even more dominant in every game because each season with us he's had large parts of the season where he has become anonymous after very bright starts. He can't afford those spells any more or he'll be moved on.

Or Gerrard will  figure out that McGinn is better suited on the forward line - like where he plays for Scotland

What's the point of him wearing the shirt and holding one up? If anything he should hold up the shirt so we see the back of it - his number.

The Brazilian flag in the photoshoot is also totally wrinkled 🤪.  Wish our media/comms team were as professional as our owners.

  5. I know they are saying it is not linked to Digne but at 15M it definitely looks like the clubs are trying to over inflate the value of the players for FFP purposes. We will probably then buy Digne for 35M on the books.  This will bolster the income of both clubs, while the cost is amortized over the length of the contract. Not a finance expert, but I read this is what Italian and French clubs do regularly.

  6. Realistically probably another 3-4 years until we see the likes of Kerr, Feeney and Bogarde playing first team football.  Konsa for example played League 1 at age 19 & 20. Championship at age 21 and joined us at age 22.

Yep. They will as we're attacking more and under less pressure.

We will eventually get round to looking at that but replacing Mings or Konsa is going to be a summer when we're only making 1 or 2 big money signings to really push us on. We've got other areas to worry about before that.

Can't see it until the summer of 2023.

If he doesn't want to commit to the club it probably is the right decision to prioritize other players ahead of him.

I'm just not going to get worked-up over an 18 year old.  If he goes to Borussia Dortmund, so be it. Sancho was at City, De Bruyne at Chelsea....you can't babysit players for years and years until they reach their peak. Some are bound to move on.

  9. Undoubtedly a talent. Just feel he needs to be managed a bit by Gerrard. Believe Sanson would have been a more steady figure at the start of the match when United were pressing.

Regardless of EK and TMs ability, I think it needs changing up now, I'd hope SG can persuade those that might become squad players to stay because they are decent and will give us depth if we can upgrade them or one of them. Same for Targett, needs to stay and fight.

Think some of our defensive woes will subside as we start improving in other parts of the pitch.
