This is a popular concept bandied about by media and fans, but other than a few select clubs, most clubs just go for the best available manager. Just look at all the clubs Jose Mourinho has been at - most of them have had totally different types of managers before and after his arrival.

Not worried. If we get relegated with Emery, it means our squad was never good enough.

the helping him get to villa park probably rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.  we've all made our sacrifices to attend matches.

Fact that there is a thread about his show moving to Patreon both here and another popular Villa forum shows that the guy clearly has made an impression.  Frankly, I enjoy his show. Find his takes interesting and it's a very well produced show. I'm not British, so his accent or the fact that he might not be a local does not bother me at all.

Think he might go the way of Ozil - just not suited for the Premier League.  Certainly he can do the business in some matches/situations, but might not be worth it for both sides to keep him 

My Arsenal friends who are admirers of Emery say the one criticism they have of him is he chopped and changed his lineups too much.  Even when they had a winning formula going. 

If we sign Emery and we still struggle to get into the top-half, then I will simply conclude that this club is cursed and be at peace with it.

Thought he was a step slow and a cut below everyone else.

Think he should only be played further-up the field - cameos only please

I don't think they have anyone lined up. Purslow was all-in on Gerrard till the very end.

My guess is he and Danks are considered part of the Villa technical setup and not the coaching team, if that makes any sense.  Same reason they survived the Smith sacking.
