  1. Yep I would not be adverse to Bilic, his teams play good attractive football. I would still take Jol as top 'gettable' choice though.
  2. .....you must be a relation then. Punctuation jokes... always funny :winkold:
  3. However I would hope that we have an owner who, special relationship aside, has the balls to ask the neccessary questions of the manager and if he feels it is needed give the manager help in an area e.g. coaching, transfers etc
  4. It'll be interesting to see what the results are like after the next poll - by then we will have faced Chelsea again in the FA Cup and Birmingham City in the league.
  5. 1656 posts suggest otherwise Yep, dead clever, well worth a smiley emoticon (a useful modern invention which beats entering into an articulate debate any day of the week) Except of course that maybe he meant that most of his 1656 posts were from ages ago, that maybe, like me, he got bored of trying to converse with sneering, semi-literate knuckleheads, and found something else to do with his time. Just maybe And so it decends into the 'im a better fan than you' thread...
  6. Why post that then? Why is anyone posting such **** utter shit in this thread? If Glaston reads this, he has reason to call Villa smalltime. Anyone does. This thread is gash. Oh god get a grip of yourself man! The title of the thread is 'if he does go' not 'sack him now'. The question is a valid one. To not consider what options are out there, in the event of MON leaving the club, is stupidity.
  7. I truly hope you are correct, but I think Spurs could call it a day now and still finish above us in the league. I just can't see where we are going to get the 8 points we need in order to get above their current total.
  8. I agree, rotation certainly does help with tiredness and personally I would use rotation if I were a manager. But one thing people are missing is that rotation also has it's negative points. Settled sides often perform well and rotating teams can unsettle a team. If we had rotated more during the season who is to say we won't have dropped more points? No one can say, but to simply assume we'd be in a better position by rotating players is a bit ignorant. A point I've tried to make many times. Whenever I read about what MON should have done it's always talked about as though anything but 3 points is impossible. We could have rotated more and been further away fro spurs at this point. Or we could have rotated more and could now be above them... we shall never know. What we now know is that we are very unlikely to finish above them and we have alot of knackered players
  9. It is easy to think, Chindie. Sadly I think that MON is too limited in his approach to the game, tactics and transfers and to stubborn in personality to make any ground breaking changes. We will continue to be a solid team playing a solid one dimensional style with solid dependable 7 out of 10 type players. MON, if the past couple of seasons are anything to go on, does not have the imagination to have us doing otherwise.
  10. I agree, I think we have reached our peak under MON. I accept that we don't have the resources of some clubs and that any change is always a gamble... but also the thought of watching MONs dire football for another season is currently depressing me.
  11. Wise words indeed This Yeah, I'm so embarrassed that we're thinking ahead that I can barely show my face in public for the shame. Is this thinking ahead though or just thinking about today? We're in the midst of another very decent season and it's likely that provided we don't force him out that MON will be our manager for the next couple of seasons at the very least, quite probably for longer still. In fact, if we're looking ahead I think there's a fair likelihood that provided there are no total disasters O'Neill will be here until Lerner goes or until he retires. And do you think we will ever make 4th or win anything in that time? Because personally, I don't. I think MONs style of play is just to limited in todays football. Maybe I need to lower my expectations and except that 6th is as good as it gets, with a couple of cup runs thrown in - I shall work on it and then maybe I can join the contented Villa fans that find threads like this embarrassing.
  12. But will we really? As we rarely play a possession style of football under MON do we really need to buy technically gifted players that cost alot? What is the point? Better to spend the money on super fit, super fast players, with technical ability as a secondry. There is no point having some one like a Joe Cole in your team if all you are going to do is boot it towards the corner flag. The downside to this is we will only ever finish as high as sixth - which apparantly we should all be happy with/ grateful for.
  13. I think you are correct on Randy not sacking MON, however, Jol has stated that he definitely wants to manage in the premiership again. I certainly think we would interest him.
  14. The timing of the thread is bad, but I don't see why considering who should take over from MON, should he leave, as embarrassing. If MON left at the end of the season then Martin Jol would be my choice
  15. Yep. People want Luke Young, they want rotation, they want 4-5-1. Well, you got it. Though being serious, poor refereeing decisions and individual errors by players are 2 things that a manager can't do anything about. Not sure what people really expect MON to do there, play the game and ref it at the same time? I don't think Luke Young was individually at fault for any of the goals... please correct me if I am wrong. We were 451 until the third goal.. then changed to 442 which made us even worse! Rotation is a neccessity in todays game as you can't play a whole season with just 14 players playing all the time. If the manager is unable to use a rotation system in order to keep players fresh then perhaps it is the manager who is outdated rather than rotation being the problem
  16. Hmmm... the seventh biggest defeat in our clubs history would seem to suggest maybe we are not ready for 4th this year.
  17. Wowsers! And there are people on here getting upset that some of the fans are moaning!
  18. I'm not... I ruled us out after the two crap draws against Wolves and Sunderland :winkold:
  19. Yep either overplayed players to knackered to play well or underplayed players not match fit. Well Done MON
  20. Anybody who is prepared to give us a stack of cash
  21. You are correct, mathematically the race for 4th will not be over.
  22. Bit early to be on the booze isn't it? Not if you're in Ireland
  23. 3-0 Chelsea... sounding the death knell of any lingering hopes of 4th
