  1. United. Their success of recent times was down to successful youth policy (initially), sticking with a manager and good business practices off the pitch. Chelseas was down to money. All the glory hunting fans etc is just part of being a successful club....dont kid yourselves it wouldnt happen to Villa too if (when) we start winning thigs again. As much as i hate that whole side of it, i know it's hardly man u's fault.
  2. I cant understand why people keep saying SWP as a realistic signing. Duff was deemed surplus to requirements due to Robben and J.Cole playing wide left so effectively....SWP is their only wide right player. Unless they sign someone else then i doubt he is available.
  3. Not sure I agree that O'Neill wont be looking at some very big names but I do think he'll be forced into looking more at a team of Petrovs and Baros' before adding in the said really big names. I dont think all of a sudden we can buy a Kaka, in fact i'm absolutely certain we cant as there are too many better established alternatives for the very top players. But thought that was an excellent article.
  4. Boo!!!! I'm one of those mate...just a horrible feeling. Largely originating from 5 years of Villa frequently losing games we should win on current form. Though with my prediction history it'll just mean a sweeter victory!
  5. Actually i've just read Baros say.. "We have new owners and in the winter, some new players are expected to come." so i'm possibly talking out my arse!
  6. I think alot of people will be disappointed in January. I doubt we'll see any more than 2 signings. To be honest i'll be surprised if we see them. O'Neill is all about getting the best from people and creating a team spirit. Making lots of signings may compromise that. Certainly mid first season anyway. A summer clear out may be more likely once he's given certain players a fair chance. I dont think we'll see much more than the odd quality acquisition.
  7. I've never watched it consistently so it may be box-set time, which is really the best way to watch drama series anyway imo. Buschemi is a legend!
  8. youre no fun :winkold: So true! tbh i dont think it would work anywhere near as well for a film so it's probably not a fair comparison. Put any of the others into a series and you'll inevitably get more of the human aspect over time anyway. I think i like the 'normalness' of the life he leads. Once your brought up into that way...you know it's wrong but it becomes an accepted way of life. But it's still a big deal if someone gets killed and everything has to be put through the chain of command and worked out. Alot more realistic then the almost unchecked crime spree's of the films. And RICO...i dont follow it religiously mate, so probably havent seen much past series 4. I did see Tony wake up from the coma the other day and i thought how much the other characters had descended into comedy gangster characature types. Didnt really work i have to say. Seemed like a bunch of bumbling idiots!
  9. Tony Soprano. Not because he's anywhere near the coolest or even the best at what he does but because the show focuses on the human aspect rather than the crime. I find that a bit more interesting (ok but less fun) then how many people they can brutally murder.
  10. More stumble upon gold... http://www.lothen.com/ My favourite there...
  11. Sounds cool...i'll look out for it mate. Have added another link above btw.
  12. Usint the very excellent 'StumbleUpon' i stumbled upon these storm shots. Awesome stuff! http://www.tinyvices.com/storms.html Some more impressive shots...mostly landscape. http://www.kennethparker.com/
  13. Carve a face in that and it's Bert from Sesame street!
  14. Gotcha mate. Like the 2nd batch...like leaving the crossing man as red on the b&w. Thats a statement.
  15. Bit ott with the sky perhaps. But sharpened the pic, and took the water a bit cooler. Graduated tint for the sky.
  16. Ha ha .....yes, yes it is! Shame you cant crop her out without ruining the symetry though. Agree the B & W does look good.
  17. I thought exactly the same thing bvut thought it would sound gay if i said it (oh and there's another lass i'd try to get rid of in that pic, can you guess which one?)
  18. We could do the same with the 'formation' threads etc, just let O'Neill take control of the squad, bed in, take care of the importnat stuff before we start chucking all these things at him. We could close the website down then....... Easy lad. Using an over-the-top example as a retort isnt big and it certainly isnt clever...you know i wasnt suggesting that at all. If you disagree then thats fine but we all know Lerner takes an interest in what we think and i was merely trying to put some perspective on how big an issue this is. I'd rather have 10 threads talking about training facilities, tactics, revenue streams and marketing then 10 about catering, the little star on the badge etc etc. Again to re-iterate, not knocking the 2nd bunch of threads, just emphasising there is far more important stuff at hand. Though i'm sure they will be all too aware of this.
  19. In 30 seconds i've jumped off the fence. I'd like a star...but small and subtle. More of an in-the-know type arrangement then a blatantly obvious..here's our big gold star!
  20. Proud to have won it once. (but wishing we'd won it more) Embarrassed not have won it more. (but proud of the one time) That seems to be the two arguments. I'm on the fence tbh, can see both arguments. In the grand scheme...I dont really care that much. Threads are popping up everywhere with a 'i'd like this', 'the club could/should be doing...' type themes and although i'm not knocking each individual thread, I am starting to think come on lets let Lerner actually take control of the club, bed in, take care of some of the improtant stuff before we start chucking all these things at him.
  21. I put never. It's just a petty law that restricts your freedom of choice and I like to move about alot when i'm driving...have a little dance....look around give a cheeky smile. If you put your belt on it's like you're tempting fate and inviting the crash, it's bad luck and I suppose I just prefer to risk it. Plus i've never crashed and i'm a good driver so it's not going to happen to me lol. Of course the above is complete and utter bollocks and if you found yourself agreeing then you're probably a cock or at the very least ignorant. The simple truth is that you either crash or you dont and while you dont, not wearing a seatbelt has no effect, zero, in fact it's quite nice. But crash and you can never ever take it back. Next time you think you wont bother, picture your partner with their face cut off or the look on your parents face when they identify your body. It probably wont happen but if it does....it's too late, you can't take it back. Oh and if you think it's an over-reaction, that most crashes are minor and wouldnt do much just think how being disfigured from a bad scar would affect your life. Would your patner stay with you? Would you be able to cope with them not fancying you? Go and look how many car crashes there are and how many innocent drivers are caught up in them, then look somewhere like rotten.com at the photos of car crashes and make the right choice.
  22. I'll agree to disagree with you. I saw alot of malice and violence in his play and can recall numerous elbows and punches too. To be honest i'm pretty sure Keane would be the first to admit that.
  23. I wish all our players had his attitude. He was win at all costs, never say die, 100% effort. A massive will to win, probably wanted to win more than any other player out there. And then after victories, it wasn't a case of job done...he wanted to move on and continue to be successful. Which is great when he was appying that attitude to football. Not so great when he was applying it to assaulting fellow professionals.
