  1. Don't know wether Klose would want to come here or not, But I'm pretty f**king sure that he won't go to Madrid or Barcelona or any club at that level. He ain't good enough. And when he realises that he might come here. But not in january, no chance. And Podolski? Less chance as some have said already. Actually I think we should go for Trez. IMO he's even better than Klose but I guess that's just me. And me basing this on old performances too.
  2. Agreed. A target-player I think.
  3. Hm, why do the articles come up twice? :? Anyway, I disagree that left back is a position we urgently need to improve. Bouma will come good and solid, believe me. He was inconsistent last season, yes, as were at best the rest of the team too. When he gets free from injuries he'll be one of our most important players I think. I'd go with a new centtral midfielder instead. The targets themselves are good enough, I think. But why not look abroad?
  4. I'm sorry but this is probably the most stupid rumour I've ever read.
  5. Flash player, but like Hendrie he only delivers every four games or so. And a troublemaker as well. Agreed and I think he's a little too lightweighted for the premiership too. I know I've recommended him before but I wonder...
  6. When did Ian Wright work with MON? the world cup coverage on bbc 1 i think Ah, didn't know that. Thought I'd missed something and well, I sort of had. Thought you meant in football as palyer-manager or something like that, though.
  7. Actually sounds interesting. Haven't heard of the guy before but your description sounds good to me. And buying players from Crewe gives nice memories.
  8. Wingers and maybe a midfielder and a better target player than Sutton and a right back. Maybe it would be easier for me to say which position we don't need to strengthen. Anyway, wingers and RB.
  9. like who?? mellberg is class he would get into most teams, id even say he would be ahead of wes brown, and senderos of arsenal when ollies on top form Agreed, Dem, but not as a fullback. He's needed in the centre of the defence.
  10. Ok, I seem to be pretty alone on thinking he's an excellent striker. I mean, he's the kind of striker that doesn't do much out on the field but in the penalty area he's a lethal striker. That kind of striker that we very much need to reach "the next level". And to say that anyone would score that amount of money with that service is a bit OTT IMO. He was still up against very good defenders and scored a lot of goals. People who says that he scores goal that their grandmothers could score doesn't really know a lot about football. They don't realise what kind of intelligence it takes to be in the right position when the ball comes. To see the open spaces. To see where the defenders have lost their attention. Such people seems to think it's only a fluke that such strikers are there at the right place at the right time. Couldn't be more wrong. They know exactly where to be to put the ball in to the net. Of course the service of Nedved & co has helped him a lot and he wouldn't be much without it but they also need him to put the ball in the goal. And for him not playing in the french national team, well, from what I've heard Domenech is very criticised for that and he's also competing with players like Henry so it isn't the easiest team to get in to. Everyone to their own but to say Trezeguet is overrated after scoring so many goals is as I said way OTT IMO.
  11. Can you put an argument to that? He has an excellent goal-scoring record for Juve in one of the best leagues in the world.
  12. Agreed that a striker is needed but I doubt Trez would come to us at this stage. Imagine how attractive he'll be to teams in the CL having not played in the CL come january. :?
  13. Fair enough. I am only 21 and didn't see McGrath play that much of course. So I'm sorry for interfering with your perfect picture of him. Other that that, anything else you would like to point out? Well, I think you're forgiven then for not knowing how good he actually was. But as you don't really know you shouldn't say such things like he wasn't that good outside the "Villa-world". He was. As said, the Baresi-comment, the award in the 92/93-season, etc. Actually, even in a view without Villa-glasses on he was one of the best, no doubt. Had maybe one weakness, maybe a bit too slow, but he read the game so well, one of the best on that that I've ever seen, so you didn't notice. Will never forget how impressed SGE was when he was a pundit for the ROI-Holland-game in the WC of 94.
  14. Was aware of this. Hope not. But as you said, Dem, if only until january it is another body in the squad and another option if Luke's out for the rest of the season.
  15. Rocafella, remind me of which defenders have won the Premiership players player of the year award ? There are only 2. And the players player of the year is recognition by your fellow professionals that you were the best player in the league that year. So anyone who wouldn't put him in their top 30 is quite frankly ignorant. If you bear in mind that he is one of only 2 defenders in the last 24 years to have won the award - and you were making say a 'team of the last quarter century', you would kind of HAVE to pick him in your team. Thank you BOF, covered it for me.
  16. Ok, I agree that we have different opinions on Klose but to say he would be the best transfer in our history us a bit OTT, isn't it? I mean, just thinking of players from the last 15-20 years back, and then not even mentioning the players from the league- and EC-winning hero-side of '81-'82, I could pick up a few players that would be very hard to beat when it comes to best transfers. Just to mention a few I'd say Platt, Yorke, Saunders and the man himself, God McGrath. And how good has Klose done in the CL so far? Or his he just good in the pretty poor german league and in the german national team?
  17. Wouldn't call Appiah unproven. He played for Juventus once and even if he wasn't a regular he played often and well enough to prove himself, IMO. He would be a great target. Haven't seen enough of Gera and Brown I agree is too injury prone and we've already got enough of that kind of player.
  18. I agree that we'll buy 2-4 players in january. Milner almost for sure. SWP would be god. I'd love to see Appiah give McCann a challenge for his spot and an RB to secure that position. Hughes is good but nothing special. We should aim for someone better. Can't give any suggestion right now as my favourite has just gone injured and will remain so for a while. If he ever was a realistic target. However this is what I'd like. And Jez, I can agree with to some extent. To become bigger and better we have to aim higher and aim för better targets. Otherwise we won't get anywhere. I think our possibilitys to sign bigger names have improved a lot.
  19. I agree with this but would replace the LB with a left winger.
  20. The more I think of it the more certain I get. Let's put a star above the badge on the shirt. I want the players to look down on it and think: "Once there was an honest bunch of lads who won the european cup to earn us this star. I wanna fight to keep to honour that star. I wanna put another one to it and become a legend." Or something like that. I'm not someone who writes great speeches.
  21. No, no he doesn't There's a flaw right at the start of that. Yep, Chewbacca didn't carry a gun. He carried a crossbow. Anyway, I think there are good arguments both for and against. But in the end it wouldn't make us look ridiculous at all and I want that star on my shirt. As someone else said, I'd like to rub it in my Arsenal-"frinds" faces. It would look so good. So while I find some arguments against I'd really like it there. Could it be arranged on the shirts from now on this season?
  22. Put don't know mostly because of the reasons you write in the first post, BOF. But I feel that he would be better as a coach or assisting manager. think he'll lack in tactical awareness. But he can be a damn good motivator I think if he's somewhat controlled by someone else.
