  1. Well, that would be a hell of a team! Unrealistic but a hell of a team... Ribery is left sided, and after Ronaldinho probably the player who impresses me most in world football. I've watched a few french games on channel five (or four I cant remember) but this Ribery fella! Oh my god what a player, awesome. They worship him in France. He's on his way to one of the super clubs though unfortunately.
  2. Sorry to go press you on this matter, but do the plans for the north end of the ground consist of a complete re-development, or a refurbishment of the current stand in some way? I'm just interested to know. Cheers.
  3. Milner and Richardson would be excellent additions in January.
  4. I think Heinze is one of the best LB's in the world, no question. He's had injury trouble otherwise he'd be ahead of Evra. I'm telling you all now he will not be sold. And he wont come here.
  5. Yeah, it's the same league that's making Lee Hendrie look good remember!! :| Saying that he'd surely do better than Barry on the wing, but not exactly the quality we need though, and £10 million!
  6. Here's a lo-down of the player. There also several stories about this but I can't be bothered linking them. Lee Cook.
  7. they want 10 million for him!!!! I have never heard of him! I could link you to the story and a very good page about the player but I cant remember how to do that short link thingy
  8. We've been linked in several papers with Lee Cooke of QPR. QPR have stated it will take a bid of around £10 million for them to sell. I've never seen him play so I've no comment to make on this. He's a winger apparently not sure which side and he's 24. Edit - I believe he's a Left Winger.
  9. I've changed my position from the 'we should take it slowly' approach I wanted a few weeks ago. Maybe I'm wrong too. Maybe I've gotten carried away. Maybe my expectation is too high. Maybe. But maybe I've realised that getting into European competition is very important this season, to raise the profile of the club and make it more attractive to join in the summer. I think we should pull all the stops out this January to get 2 high profile players as well as a couple of highly rated up and coming talents and have a real go at getting into Europe. The long term of the club is in the youth system - that's being taken care of - so lets go for it, why not splash the cash and start building for this and next season. January transfers are not easy to pull off, but it is possible - it can be done. Lets not waste a season - the revolution has started- Europe is the goal. We CAN do it. The board have issued a rallying call to the fans, so lets get on with it. The team must stay focused and fit until January to keep us in the mix but with a few head turning signings a top 6 is possible. Disclaimer - this does not mean I will or anybody should slag the board off if things don't go to plan, or if the plan is to do things a bit differently, as long as there is a plan, after Ellis, I'm happy.
  10. Welcome General, I think we got what Americans might call 'The Dream Team' running our club, I'm very impressed.
  11. I'm not scared of the red scousers, bring em on I say. 4-3-3 counter please MON, we can av em! Liverpool 0 - 2 Aston Villa. UP THE VILLA!
  12. Izzi seems the most natural to me. It should be Izzy. Therefore I vote Izzy. Decisions decisions.
  13. Thats settled then a star it is, now lock this thread.
  14. You'd rather loose Villa Park than the imaginatively named 'North Stand' and 'Doug Ellis' names, strange.
  15. Old Trafford was never renamed, they just put Vodafone on the stands and it covered the cost of re-developing them, but it depends on how much money you actually get. Is it worth that much?
  16. I think renaming the North stand and the Doug Ellis stand is a good compromise, there is no need to rename the stadium. Just re-develop those stands and let someone put their name on them and their logo on the seats - I'm not bothered if it pays for the cost of redeveloping them. I mean one's got Doug Ellis on it and the other is just the North stand so dosent have a name as such really - so, why not. But keep the Villa Park name.
  17. Dont know if it's been on SSN all day but I just turned it on and they seemed quite excited about Lerner claiming the deal is all but done and will be tied up in the next day or so. If you've all heard I apologise but I cant be bothered reading back over this thread at all todays posts! I dunno I guess its been going on a while now so the end may actually finally be upon us, heres hoping, just so I dont have to read any more posts about bloody shares and boring stuff like that!
  18. It would be nice to kick off the season with everything sorted, there'd be a huge buzz around the place with a couple of new players a new manager and owner!
  19. less than the traditional 3 years
  20. What's the rush anymore, as long as it's done in the next month or so. The only reason I wanted it hurried up was because all transfers were on hold. Now, apparently MON has a bit of money to spend we can plug the holes and that should get us through to January, when a few more holes can be pluged and next summer the real work can start. But there is no particular rush anymore.
  21. 2 weeks max I recon, so you better star saving.
  22. I doubt they are going on holiday, they're just not ready. They've had enough time - I'd tell em not to even bother cos if they and Neville are panicing trying to merge with each other at this stage, you know! It dosent bode well does it. Hopefully it will be a one or two horse race with Lerner and Still. May the best bid win - if Still has gone then wrap it up with Lerner ASAP. Of course the only potential hold up then would be Doug, this is where it gets complicated. I'll let people who understand shares better debate that one. TBH how many of you will be suprised if Doug is indeed the major problem here, he has been the problem for a good many years!
  23. Neville and AV06 look totaly shambolic. Still has been quiet all the way through - I like that, no fuss, no rumours, no extravegant promises etc. Very professional. I think Lerner is at the table too, there has been no denial from him whenever asked. There may be another mystery consortium but from what we know the two favourites must be either Still or Lerner. On the manager front I think that will be announced by the new owners. I dont want to put a timescale on things but the only holdup I can envisage will be Dougs demands as they could prove to be a major sticking point.
  24. We're all guessing but I'm finding myself inclined to agree with PB's take on things tonight. All I can say myself with some certainty though is it is all over for Doug. Some people still have doubts it seems. Hopefully Rothchilds can help the board choose the right one from the serious bidders and this can be resolved soon so we can have a manager in place.
