  1. Bailey sub unforgivable. We were all over them at that moment. Unless he was injured, that loss is on the manager. Shame as we actually played well till that moment. Diaby was useless yet again.
  2. Am I imagining this or was the women’s one worn in the launch in error? The club shop shows the shoulders are different on men. The claret stripe in further down the sleeve making it less shoulder pad like.
  3. That match came down to a manger not seeing the writing on the wall. Young and Watkins should have been pulled at half time or soon afterwards. Buendia was getting nothing from ref who gave them everything, which should have been a signal to take him off. It’s not rocket science and I’m sure everyone watching thought the same. Working hard does not cut it in this league and I fear this was Gerard and todays performance downfall. I am hoping the new manger actually has a manager brain and sorts us out.
  4. Did any of you watch us pre season? It was clear we had gone backwards if that was possible. Same tactics..passing sideways to make our passing stats look good. My fear is that the players have lost faith in themselves and there is now click within the team who have been frustrated at Gerard playing his favourites and now will now feel free to run riot. I just hope that set piece coach is gone also and had his clip board broken over his head when he was told to do one.
  5. It is very clear that these players do not want to play for that idiot. Every ball is behind the player, even at the back. We play at a snails pace with no width. No movement from the attacking midfielders leave anyone on the ball with no option but a sideways pass. This is down to poor coaching and no plan. It’s as if our only tactic is boot it long and hope it bounces favourably to us or to bounce out of play further up the pitch. It ain’t bloody rugby. It it teeth grinding to watch. Can we stop giving this Gerard clown a chance and cut our losses now.
  6. I have no doubt! a lot of people commenting on here, never kicked a ball in their life and if they did, it was on a training pitch, at best. That being said, It is clear to anyone who kicked a ball at a decent standard and did or didn't ultimately make it to the big show, this team is being lead by a a fraud. He was an exceptional player, but not premiership management material. 1) He pushed to sign Coutinho, when anyone with an ounce of football knowledge, should see he is past his “sell by date”. A squad player at best, who will produce moments of genius, but never a starter. For gods sake, Ronaldinho at 42, could contribute those moments of magic, but no manager is signing him. I watched every pre season game and he should not be near starting. It was obvious after 10 minutes that starting him was a bad idea. Why did our manager not see that? 2) Who in their right mind would make McGinn captain, let alone start him? This chap is devoid of natural football talent, is overweight,, and it seems his only current talent is restricted to sticking his fat ass into opponents. Villa should have cashed in on his false and media hyped adulation 2 years ago, yet Gerrard has made him captain? 3) Archer? Honestly, would any other premiership team start that guy? May have ability but never a starter in the premiership. Our manager subbed him at half time. Wasn’t 20 mins enough? Wasn’t pre season enough? 4) Last year, it was obvious that our main issue was our slow and ponderous play at the back. Predictable, slow pass, left to right and right to left,. This let teams reposition easily and defend accordingly. Why on earth have we approached a pre-season and now opening day with the same approach? How can everyone on here, idiots or not, not see this shortfall, yet our manger be oblivious to it? As passionate Villa fans, I suggest we demand that Mr Gerard have some class, put his hands up, admit he does not have what it takes to manage at a real level, and resigns. We as fans have had enough of watching our team play sub standard football, since the wonderful days of Ron Atkinson. For anyone who wants to tell me Martin O”Neill had a team that played good football, either you are Irish or truly don’t have a clue about our wonderful history.
  7. My rant is as much a rant as someone saying they don't want Sherwood at the club. I have put a bit more emotion to it granted, but when I seen his name linked, it truly made my blood boil. Do we all not feel as much passion about this club? Is there truly anything wrong with expressing it. I never called him an ass hole as I have been accused of doing. I have had enough of seeing a club dragged to the depths it has over the years. His appointment would be another step backwards and after 40 years + supporting the club it would be enough to call it quits on Villa and football in general. Like us all, I miss the days of turning heads when we played, the holte roaring and hurting my ears when I had the pleasure of being there. I don't care if we are mid table. I want all villa fans to feel the pain when we lose not because we are useless but because we were unlucky. Will Lennon bring those days back. Not a chance!!!!!!!
  8. Yes....you are wrong in thinking my views are sectarian. I would never in a million years have such a view and would hope such a view is never in anyway associated with Villa.
  9. I understand why some fans would ask why? I am voicing my opinion and would rather not elaborate any further, if that's ok. No need for abuse. I am sure there are plenty who would agree with my feelings and plenty who think he would be a great choice. I happen to feel passionately enough about it to voice my thoughts.
  10. I am hearing a rumour gathering momentum that Neil Lennon is in the running for the job. I will 100% end my lifelong over 40 years) love for Villa if that happens. I will refuse to watch, listen or have any association with the club if he gets the job. I urge all passionate Villa fans to voice their concern at Lennon even being considered an option. I could take no enjoyment with us progressing under his leadership and the club will be dead to me.
  11. Having watched the game yesterday (not highlights), we looked like the away team from the off. The team selection (bar Benteke) indicated we were set up to try and contain what ever Norwich threw at us and hit them on the break. It was clear Albrighton, from his first touch of the ball, was not going to cut it and thus the hit them on the break idea was reduced to long aimless balls up to Benteke. Gabby was not in sync with Benteke and any ball headed down found gabby elsewhere. A good manager would have at least seen this very early doors. He didnt or chose to ignore it. We were playing defensively up to the sending off. Why bring another defender on? Couldnt we have switched delph to right back or even Holman (surely the worst footballing player on our team). Albrighton should have been taken off, Ireland taking Holmans position with Gabby filling Albrightons. Instead our manager left us to be dominated by a veryy very poor norwich squad. The problem was not the sending off, it was the Managers decision from the off to play defensively and then make it ultra defensive after the sending off. I grow very tired of peope defending a manager who seems clueless on how to set up a team to win. Lambert chose this team and it is his responsibilty to get the best out of them. Isnt he a manager afterall? Isnt his job to get these guys on the training pitch and work on their ability to do the basics. Hold the ball, retain posssesion and make a pass when it is avaialble? He seems to have come in and done none of those things. In fact we have gone backwards like most of our passes. People can blame the owner for not investing. The simple fact of the matter is Randy owns Villa as a business and for all intents and purposes it is a failry successful one. Like any business you expect the manager you have put faith in to run it as per his job. In this case lambert is the manager of the team not Randy. Lambert is currently failing misserably at the job he is intrusted with and unless he starts to show me and all of you, he has what it takes to manage this team, then he should be given a firm hanshake and told to hit the road like any inept manager in any business. The team put out against Norwich was not the team to win the game and we didnt. Thats Lamberts job and he failed yet again
