  1. The only team in for him were Forrest - who offered him low wages. No one else was in for him at that time. Of course he would stay, he's a cult hero here and he does have a connection with the fans and the club - hes a cult hero now. But ultimately his time is up here. Especially in the full back position - Guilbert and a new left back is going to be pivotal in the way we're going to play next season. Hutton isn't able to play at that intensity.
  2. Him taking a pay-cut on a current contract and him accepting a new one year contract on less wages are completely different things. In the first instance you make it sound like he went to villa and asked for reduces wages to help the club - he didn't The club offered him a new one year deal to reflect what they think he should be earning. It's equivlent to this; Pay Cut = Your boss comes to and says, AVFCRigo82, I'm sorry I know you're earning 30k a year contract but could you please a reduction to your salary to 28k a year. Is that OK? Accepting reduced wages = Your boss tells you: "AVFCRigo82, I know your contract is finishing in a few months, you've been on 30K a year for this contract, but I'm going to offer you a new one year contract on 28k. It's up to you if you want to accept it."
  3. He is a year older and is only going to get worse. We're moving on from players like good ol' Alan. What's this myth he took a pay cut? He didn't. I don't know why people keep believing this. His contract was running out in the summer so he was offered a new one year deal - so signed a deal with less wages offered by Villa (rightly). How the hell did he take a pay cut if his contract expired ffs?
  4. Why? Guilbert is coming in and he's going to be a brilliant player for us. Mark my words. The other spot can be given to Bree, and we may even have Elmo still with us next season if he isn't moved on. No point keeping Hutton to be battling for 3/4th place, rather his 15/20k go towards another player. Maybe it's time Hutton to drop down a level.
  5. Mings can actually play with both. His right peg is actually decent.
  6. Probably ability. Baring in mind Hutton has played for us in the Premiership and in the Championship, while the others were all in the Prem.
  7. Haha shit you're right. To be fair to Luke Young, he was absolutely solid. Even played most of the season at left back and was still great.
  8. Just had a bit of an idea - if you had to list all the right backs we've had in the last 20 years, where would Hutton rank on your list? For me he'd actually be near the bottom. 1. Mark Delaney 2. Luke Young 3. Kyle Walker 4. Matt Lowton 5. Olof Mellberg 6.Ryan Bertrand 7. Carlos Cuellar 8. NRC 9. Alan Hutton 10. De La Cruz 11. Didier Agathe
  9. No - the defence was a priority. Whelan is still capable in the deeper midfield role and we also have Thor who could play there, Lansbury too, albeit he injured himself. Not sure why you're glossing over the fact that January is not a month you can do 'great' business in. The fact we signed Croatia's no 1 goalie who played extremely well for the World Cup Finalists, recalled Elphick, signed Premier League defender in Tyrone Mings and Hause on loan shows Smith and his team above did extremely decent business in the transfer market. New wingers? We had El Ghazi, Adomah, Bolasie and Kodjia as wingers. Sent Bolasie back and recalled Green. Again good decision for us. Cover for Jack? as much as you can try, you'll never be able to get a replacement for what Jack brings to this team. All these area's you speak of will all be changed in a few months when you get a proper opportunity to sign/let go of players. Not in January.
  10. Like where? The defence? Oh you mean where he got Mings and Hause - two players who are earning rave reviews right now, and recalled Elphick after the previous buffoon in charge sent him on loan?
  11. Wtf? That is bollocks. Just checked, over the last twenty games we were ranked 9th in the form guide.
  12. Managed by a Villan, and captained by a Villan. Doesn't get any better.
  13. Well what the **** have you got to say now? HAHA. Overrated? He's bloody underrated.
  14. When Jovanovic joined Fulham, just avoided relegation by 11 points. They finished 20th. That was two seasons ago. When you give a decent manager time and a decent budget they will get better.
  15. So by your logic, Jokanović shouldn't have been sacked because his team (which he built over three seasons) was rock bottom of the league, had no wins in 7 games, but would've turned it around apparently......BUT you want Smith sacked because he's effectively managing another manager's team, has 2 wins in 13 and is sitting in 13th...... Where the hell is your logic?
  16. Lol thank God you're not in charge of player sales. It's all in hand.
  17. So in your head you've just added 2+2 and got 5. Just because Rodgers wanted McGinn to play for Celtic doesn't mean his requirements are exactly the same for Leicester. Different clubs, different leagues, different motives. Anyway, Leicester will have to pay way over the odds for him. I'm talking 15m or more.
  18. The best player in the Championship returning back from a long injury is always going to make news. Not only that, it changes other team's tactics when playing us. Not only that, it means our other midfield players will have move time on the ball Not only that, it increases our set-play chances of scoring because of how many free kicks he wins in dangerous areas Not only that, he provides an extra goal threat because of his ability to find players in the final third. Not only that, he alleviates pressure from our defence because of his ability to hold onto the ball. Overrated? GTFOH.
  19. Overrated? People are seriously doubting what he means to this team? Unbelievable.
  20. Seeing as you like stats, Please find out how we got on with and without Grealish please.
  21. Because we don't want to destroy them before we need them. Imagine our youngsters come on now while we are playing shit - it's sink or swim time. Bring them on to experience this toxic atmosphere we've had in games in the last few weeks? That could potentially ruin their careers and potential. Best thing to do is send them out on loan, gain that experience of playing in a team where the expectations aren't so high and they can experience 'real' football. Bring them back at the end of the season and review if they'll be able to play the 'Smith' way and introduce them to Smith's pre-season and training. There's a reason why we aren't paid to do this and our owners have put people in place to put these strategies in place.
  22. The point I was making was Grealish to us is as pivitol to any star in any team is. Without Ronaldo's influence at Real they have fallen hard. Yes he's not there anymore but the principle is still the same. Without Messi, Barca are forced to play a different way and they struggle at times. Taking Grealish out of our team means the opposition can change their game play dramatically and changes their tactics against us big time. Having Grealish on the pitch alone means more time on the ball for our midfielders and helps our wingers.
