Watched PSV play Monaco in a Champions League qualifier today. PSV were the better team until Sangare was subbed off in the 78th minute. Two minutes later Monaco scored to tie it 1-1, and that's where it finished.

A midfielder who i have mentioned before is technically done..the club is waiting to resolve contract issues with current players(apparent Registration issues in squad also) and move on at least two players..This will go down to wire..possibly close to window closure.

Just so nobody is trolling through all my old posts the player is Ibrahim Sangare

    So Wednesday do you think?

Where do you think he will play for us and who with?

I imagine he'll go back and forth from left to right. My prediction is Mings-Carlos is the pairing that we see the most often. The biggest difference to me is that while Carlos isn't the kind of CB you'd want on Man City as far as possession and carrying the ball forward, he's a much better passer than Konsa. So having him and Mings together will keep us from being too "left-footed" in build up, which I think was a serious problem last season. You're a lot easier to defend when opponents know they only have to cover half the pitch.

I have a suspicion SG wants some leadership further forward....and Ty need to focus on his own game.

back to signings.....I wouldn't be surprised if we go with what we have, as unloading is proving to be difficult.

Yeah, reading between the lines, I think SG wants Tyrone focused on defending and communicating at the back more than dealing with everything the captain has to deal with too. Also, maybe McGinn can make the ref laugh and that will lead to more favorable treatment? 😁

If we are in for another forward, wonder if we’d go back after Leao, I’m sure we were interested before he joined Milan. Although a purchase from them would probably cost a fortune

The price won't be the obstacle. If Leao leaves Milan, it won't be for a club that isn't already a perennial Champions League participant.

That's another issue we need to get better at, being a bit dirty, we are too nice. Hopefully Carlos will bring a bit of steel.

I agree, but I've had friends who support other Premier League teams here in the States telling me we're dirty since Gerrard took over.

    From the article:

Villa have only three senior centre-backs available — Tyrone Mings, Callum Chambers and new signing Diego Carlos — so it is expected Hause may become available only for a loan later in the window, which closes on September 1.

Hause extended his Villa contract in January until June 2025 and has other suitors besides Watford. Head coach Rob Edwards does have a previous link with the 27-year-old after coaching him during his time at Wolves.

If Watford did opt for Hause, it wouldn’t preclude them from signing another target from Villa, Cameron Archer. EFL rules stipulate that clubs can sign no more than four players from another team, of which no more than two players can be over the age of 23.

Like Clarke, Hause would be considered to be an ideal candidate as he’s played at a higher level — where Watford hope to be heading back — and also has Championship experience.

IMHO,after a total of "one penalty" between our 2 strikers, spread over 3  pre- season games........ S.G. definately needs to buy a striker/or 2

While I'd love to see us getting more penalties as well, it's not just a striker's job to draw them. It's the style of play. Teams that carry the ball into the box more often will draw more. A more dynamic midfield will do just as much to draw penalties.

A lot of people like him, personally I don't see much impressiveness.

I think he could end up being an excellent player. I just don't think it should be us spending that kind of cash for somebody who might not be an upgrade on what we have. If we're going for a striker, I'm going for a clear upgrade.

It is true though, we beat Southampton away in 2021 and this place was in uproar because Smith didnt make a sub until the last minute

Was an embarrassing night on Villatalk

I don't think Villatalk is a good sample of the fan base at large because, well, look at us.

West ham agreed a 30 mil deal to sign striker Gianluca Scamacca. Maybe we should match it

Nothing against Scamacca personally, but I'm always leery of signing young players who only have one strong season and greatly exceeded their xG. He had 16 goals on 10.8 xG. I'd rather see him do it again before putting up that kind of money.

Tbf we probably would have laughed at anyone that said we’d be challenging to finish above Brentford.

Of course. My contention is more that Forest spending £100 million is the reason for it. Forest also lost the player that might have been more important than anybody else in the squad last season in Djed Spence.

Forest have spent about 100 million on new signings, took Lingard on a free, if he performs like he did with Wet Spam, they ain't gonna be messing about.

How much did we spend to finish 17th our first year back in the league?
