Mikel Merino rejected us. Villa was gonna pay his 65 Mil Release Clause. Tier 1

This part of the story makes me immediately think it's bullshit. Just a bitter Spanish outlet bothered by the money of the Premier League.

Unlike Unai Emery , coach of the Birmingham club, who did not hesitate to terminate his contract in the middle of the season with Villarreal , after paying a figure close to 6 million for his transfer, plus another 6-7 salary for each one of the five years that he signed, it is evident that Merino has prioritized other aspects that are as important or more important than money , such as how

Funny looking little fella. Head is too big for his body. Imagine how fast he'd be if he was in proportion.

Anyway he cost Leeds £4m and is 19.

Players are out there. Just need a scouting team.

Everybody saying Ashley had him in his pocket when he's the reason Leeds scored. He's a hell of a bargain for that price. I don't think he'll ever be anything special, but squad players in the Premier League for £4m? That's good business.

  3. I'm happy for him tonight, but I also remember Coutinho tearing this Leeds team apart as well. Also, Leon wasted an opportunity with Ings by himself and nobody to stop him to dribble into multiple Leeds defenders and lose the ball. He does that far too often to ever be a consistent threat against a team that has a plan defensively that isn't RUN REAL HARD.

If he could run without looking down the entire time he might become unstoppable.

    You've just described Jacob Ramsey.

First image is Jacob, second is Guendouzi. They're somewhat similar, but I think Jacob is a better goal-scorer while Guendouzi is more of a creator for others. They could easily play together with Kamara behind them.

Deulofou has a poor injury record, plus we have seen that Italy isn't at the standard of the prem. Lukaku looks like a world beater there, so does Tammy, and while both are good players, neither are world beaters.

Yes, it would be awful to buy somebody from Serie A like Liverpool did with Salah, or Tottenham have done with Perisic and Kulusevski lately. Because, after all, one player has failed.

By the way, Lukaku is struggling with Inter too. It might be Lukaku.

So if we sold Ings who replaces him. Everyone is looking for a Striker atm.

I think we are looking for that player to replace Bailey up front.

Agree. Finding a striker right now means vastly overpaying for one because everybody wants one. That's an area that's better to address in the summer.

By telling a competent director of football the type of player he wants.

Then they, with scouting assistance, can scour the entire world for players exactly in the mould requested. They should already have a bank of 100s of players they like. Then the manager can choose from them.

Hard to do that when the manager was hired in December, there's a World Cup break, and the transfer window is January. What you're describing is likely what will happen in the summer.

Guendouzi would suggest we haven’t been successful in landing our number one target, in my view. Feel like there was a bit of an attitude problem at Arsenal though - didn’t leave on the best of terms?

He was 19. Some people grow up.

Fully prepared to be ridiculed for this but could Wan-Bissaka (on loan to begin with) be a useful player in the system we are trying to play?

With signing of Moreno it looks like we will have a attacking full back on the left and considering how Emery set up at Villarreal it seem likely that the RB will be more stay at home-ish. From what I remember he's great at tackling and terrible at crossing. But quite quick.

Seen that Wolves might be looking to loan him.

It was brought up here earlier, and you're right, you will be ridiculed for it, but it makes sense for what Emery wants. Like a lot of Man United players, Wan-Bissaka is not as good or bad as everybody believes based on the way the team is covered. He's better defensively than Matty, and about the same going forward. Also, while he's far from great, his crossing isn't terrible. If you go back two seasons when was the last time he played regularly, he had more goal creating actions per 90 than Reece James and Kyle Walker.

AWB on loan? Only suggesting as Unai likes that defensive right back.

I don't think it would be a popular move, but I don't think it'd be a bad one, either. However, I don't think you can just bring in AWB. You'd have to bring in a considerable upgrade over Bailey on the right or opponents won't even worry about defending that side.

  11. The same fans upset with Unai for today's lineup would be roasting him if he threw the normal XI out there today and we then lost to Leeds Friday. A Premier League bench should be able to beat a League Two side. This is on the players.

The amount of times he takes a man on and they get a touch on the ball is staggering, he doesn’t pass and move but it was the correct decision to start him tonight in a attempt to build his confidence. Emery clearly seen something in him and we’ve all seen glimpses I really hope he turns things around.

Leon Bailey is what happens when you scout the numbers but not the player. He's empty calories. He "creates chances" in the sense that he makes a pass into dangerous areas but the pass is rarely a good one. For instance, the cutback to Ings. If he sends it to him with pace, Ings is able to get a shot off. Instead he gingerly rolls it to him and allows the defender to break it up.

    My shopping list

    Pau Torres
    Denzel Dumfries
    Álex Moreno
    Yunus Musah
    Alberto Moleiro
    João Félix
    Samuel Chukwueze
    Victor Osimhen

As a Napoli fan it's my duty to inform you that Villa can't afford to pay for Osimhen. 😁

  14. I've never liked Bailey. Anybody here who still thinks there's a useful player in there either doesn't pay attention or just refuses to admit they're wrong. He does something cool once in a while and then spends the next two months giving the ball away, refusing to defend, or refusing to make runs to give another player space. He's nothing but step overs.

A handful of the players are rubbish but it’s mostly them being brought for different managers.

it isn’t controversial to say we need a left back a right back and a keeper I think Bednarak is rubbish but he’s forth choice. Need more ball carrying and progressive passing in midfield.

other than that I can’t really say much it’s too early under emery

We could also use a few players willing to do something when they don't have the ball. Or we could by more Baileys and Coutinhos and wonder why we can't crack a low block as they stand there refusing to move until they receive a pass.
