That's an image that takes their performance from a different league and compares it to the percentiles those numbers would finish in a different league. In this instance, the Premier League. That's IF the player performs to the exact level in a different league, with a different team. The numbers are tools to get an idea of what a player can and can't do. They don't tell you "this is exactly how the player will perform in the Premier League." That's why teams have the numbers, and scouts.

Most 22 year old centre backs get better

    that means it’s highly likely

51% is most. If I tell you something will happen 51% of the time, does that make it highly likely, or is it still mostly a coin flip? I would argue fewer than most 22 year olds get better. For every 22 year old that improves, there are probably five who don't. You just don't remember them because why would you?

    Basic fbref summaries for comparison.

Couple of points from the detail behind the above:

    - Carlos' short and medium passing is a couple of % better. Attempting 50% more long passes at 4% lower accuracy brings his overall number shown above marginally below Botman.

    - Both are in the top 10% for pressure success (Botman 42.5% vs Carlos 41%) but Carlos' tackle success numbers are better (wins 75.5% of tackles attempted vs. Botman 66.2%, while against dribbles its 60.6% vs 50%)

    - Majority of Botman's 1.99 blocks per 90 are blocked passes (1.18) while majority of Carlos' 1.69 are blocked shots (1.07)

    - Carlos' actually attempted marginally more aerial duels than Botman (4.04 vs 4.01) so the respective aerial success rates are 65.6% and 74.8%

It's difficult to compare players using raw stats when they play in different leagues, and could be asked to do different things within their team's system.

Pre season rapidly approaching. We are struggling to shift our unwanted players (as usual) and if we really want to push on we need another midfield upgrade and back up LB in my view. Hope things speed up again - although we have done very well to get players in early.

June 30th is the end of the fiscal year for a lot of clubs. Don't be surprised if things really pick up after.

Matheus Cunha only joined them last summer. Would be really bizarre if they sold after just one year.

Same with Rodrigo De Paul, but it seems he's very much available, as is Joao Felix according to some. Seems that if you're going out there and trying to score goals, Simeone doesn't want you 😂

Outside of Liverpool and City its really not great, Chelsea are probably the most consistent English team in Europe over last decade but that run looks like its coming to an end. United or Arsenal of the famous Sky 6 would struggle to get past the group stages in the Champions League. Spurs struggled in the conference league last season 😂

As for depth except Leicester league win the last non Sky 6 team to qualify from the league was Everton in 2005. Doesn't say great depth to me

Of the 12 teams to reach the semifinals of the UCL, UEL or UECL, four were Premier League teams. One of which finished 7th in the league, and the other 8th. It's the best league in the world by far.

You're questioning the depth of the league outside the top six, how many other leagues even have a big three, let alone a big six?

Newcastle linked to Osimhen at Napoli, although the player is said to prefer a club in the Champions League. If Newcastle do sign him it’ll certainly make our attempts to get into Europe that bit more difficult.

I’m still intrigued as to who we are going to sign as the links have properly dried up over the last week.

Is that the same link that said Osimhen had signed with Newcastle in May? 😁

Lots of golf and sunshine for Bale in LA

Actually, I've always found the golf courses in LA to be subpar. They're a lot like Los Angeles itself. They look nice, but once you get a look inside it's a mess.

Are some decent clubs in Spain looking at him as seems Napoli want to sell?

Another forum I post on guy is always raving about Lobotka being a superb press resistant DM in 6/8 position. Liked him since his Celta Vigo days but he's been in and out at Napoli so could be more realistic perhaps.

Napoli supporter here. I believe Lobotka is the primary reason Napoli is willing to move on Ruiz. They're both solid, but Lobotka seems to be more in line with what Spalletti wants than Fabian.

Isn't he under contract to Nov 23? That's over a season.

Just because he is down to a year and a bit doesn't mean he is leaving. Didn't Nketiah at Arsenal run his contract down completely before signing a new one? Chuk probably wants to see how the first half of this season pans out.

Possibly, but I'm reading the tea leaves more than anything.

    1. He hasn't signed a new deal even though the club wants to sign him

    2. He's currently staring at Coutinho and the team's record signing in Buendia ahead of him in the spot he's best suited for.

As for Nketiah, he's 23 and hasn't broken through to live up to the expectations placed on him when he was younger. I don't think his market was robust. His options seemed to be to leave for playing time at a smaller club, or take a bigger check and get the same chance to break through at Arsenal that he's already had. Carney is still 18 and has interest from Champions League clubs. If UCL clubs were interested in Nketiah, I don't think he's still with Arsenal.

  11. I've assumed Carney is gone since the news that they hadn't agreed to a new deal. These days, any player who doesn't agree to an extension and a raise before the final year of their deal is doing so because they plan to do what Boubacar Kamara did to get here.

I don't know if he's genuine or not, but a sign that he could well be apart from whatever transfers he's got right is that he hardly ever tweets, nornally with fake 'ITK's they do it for attention and hardly stop tweeting, which isn't the case with this case.

Also odds drop on players joining us and other clubs all the time, it's never a good indication that that player is going to sign, and certainly there was no inevitably about Ings signing for, in fact that was the most surprising transfer in recent times, you only have to look at the initial reactions in the Ings thread to see that.

He deletes the tweets that are wrong.

Could Argentina international be Dybala? Free agent, it was looking like he’d sign for Inter but they are on the verge of signing Lukaku, I can’t imagine they’d have money for both?

No idea where he'd play here unless we're completely changing the system we played under last season.

There isn't a chance in hell Chelsea would let Gallagher leave for £30m. I'd expect it to be closer to £45-50m tbh. He's a very good, young English midfielder that has a good chance of going to the World Cup. You don't get players like that for £30m.
As always, it's just Preece being a complete and utter muppet.

Don't disagree with you, but we have no idea what Chelsea will and won't do anymore. New ownership. New people doing the deals. Marina is out.

I like to ignore actual stats and look at guesswork as well.

The "guesswork stats" are more predictive of future performance than the standard numbers. It's why they exist and why the teams use them.

That said, as I mentioned earlier, I don't care what the numbers say or if Bertrand murders puppies in his sleep. As long as he scores an awesome goal once in a while, he's good with me. Every team needs the wild card capable of something magnificent once in a while. A touch of spice.
