I’ve also seen people suggest what I think could be true that our right back is going to be used to form a back three. Could answer why emery’s using young over cash as I think he’s a lot better defensively.
Yes, this is what he prefers to do, and is doing here. For the visual learners, this video goes over it pretty well.

Makes sense.
Either we need them now, and it’s cheaper to buy those in the twilight of their career but proven quality, or we get those with potential to be great in a year or 3 when the 29yr olds will be retiring.
The good 22-27 year olds are very very expensive because you’re paying for proven ability for next 5-10 years.

We need quality. However old they are. This guy is not what we need right now.
You've never seen him play but you know what he is and isn't after a quick Googling.

A 1 in 4 striker in the MLS. Hmm. I won't be getting excited let's put it that way. It's Jordan Bowery, Simon Dawkins, Jean Makoun levels of meh...
Really needed a proven, quality striker.
This isn't it.
He averaged 0.53 goals per 90.

Topic is what it says on the tin -- however you interpret that. I think I'll always be an outsider supporter because it just isn't possible for me to get to Villa Park very often, living overseas. That always strikes me as something "real Villa fans" would consider a starting place for any self-respecting Villa supporter. But I may be wrong about that. But what would be five things that, for you, distinguish the real Villa fan from not? Some kinds of things I envision but could be utter nonsense:
- Achieve a certain number of visits to Villa Park?
- Be born Villa to a Villa family?
- Get a Villa tattoo?
- Own the home kit?
- Buy a season ticketer?
- Go to such and such a pub?
- Wrestle a Bluenose?
- Learn at least four Villa songs by heart?
- Be on Villa Talk at least 10 years.
- etc etc
I know we don't get as many plastics as some clubs, so I reckon your lists of five things would be very different from other clubs or maybe alike in some ways, but what do I know? I want read about your notions, not mine.
No. 1 for me is don't put requirements on anybody's relationship with their club to consider them a "real" supporter.

Probably. A little. Does that look like a decent standard of football in that clip then?
My ignorance makes me think that looks like football being played by men who have just had major surgery and are just glad to be out of their hospital beds so they're not really doing formations or anything
For what it's worth, the highlights when Duran is wearing orange are from his time in Colombia.
As for MLS, while it's not the Premier League, the top teams in MLS would be expected to compete for promotion in the Championship. The league has come a long way in recent years. It's no accident you're seeing European teams shopping in the league now.

I'm a Chicago Fire fan. I'm familiar with Duran. I get why Villa wanted him, but I'm still surprised it happened. That said, as a Chicago Fire fan who has watched an aimless club shoot itself in the foot repeatedly for over a decade, the surprise could be due to me not believing the Fire are capable of having anything somebody else would want, but Duran is now the second teenager they've sold to a Premier League club for good money since August.
As for the player, he's big, he's athletic, he's fast, and he's physical. He's essentially everything you want in a teenage prospect. He's also raw and emotional. He played 1,367 minutes last season, just more than 15 matches worth of minutes, and picked up seven yellow cards. Rarely were they smart or tactical. They were the "I messed up and I'm angry so now I'm going to go do something stupid" variety. That may take some time to be worked out of his game, or it may never be.
He began the season in Chicago slowly, being worked in as a substitute for the first third of the season. You saw the potential, but he struggled to make a real impact. However, about halfway through the season, something clicked. While he wasn't a terror, you could see he was more confident and he began playing like it. He began to earn regular minutes and regular starts, and my thought was that he could prove to be one of the better strikers in the MLS when the new season began in February.
I don't know what our plan will be with him here. Perhaps he goes on loan, or perhaps he stays with the team and gets some late season minutes as preparation for next season. But if his time in Chicago is an indication, he'll need time to adjust. He needed time to adjust from moving from Colombia to the United States, and now a year later he may be on his way to England. That's a lot for a kid to handle.
He's talented. He could be a very good player for us. He could amount to nothing much. I don't know, but I wouldn't expect him to have an immediate impact no matter the result.

I'd *bet good money, (£2 max), that Danny Ings is an Everton player by the end of the transfer window. It fits the narrative in so many ways.
(I don't bet, but if I did, it would be on this).
I'll take you up on that.

I just don't see the point in it when you're winning 1-0 in the 65th minute.
Does Emery tell them to do it?
Doing it against Leeds was a tactical decision. Leeds is in a hurry to do everything and wants to wear opponents down with its energy. Slowing the game down as much as possible isn't as much about protecting the lead as it is saving the legs. Particularly after you're forced into two early substitutions due to injury.

I can't find where he's said it, but Birmingham Mail are claiming that Romano has said that we're in talks for Danjuma.
I believe he mentioned it on a podcast a week or so ago, but that's it.

Well...
You don't need him on the left as we have two quality options.
We have Cash on the right and I assume we will have KKH next year.
If we want him to stick around for injuries and influence then fine but if he is here to play a serious role we should be entering into the market for a solution.Paul, I'm starting to think you'd prefer they simply arrest anybody older than 30.

Ok, so what? He is still 37 he isn't a solution to anything but squad filling.
Well, squads do need to be filled. It's nice to have reliable depth in the squad like Ashley who has done a phenomenal job in this role since his return.

Danjuma at Villarreal: 20 goals on 22 xG (not including two Copa del Rey goals I don't see xG for)
Danjuma in two seasons at Bournemouth: 15 goals (all in the Championship) on 8.7 xG
Seems he took advantage of a bad league and has been very average everywhere else. Let Bournemouth or Everton overpay for him.

The market is going bonkers right now. We have to be careful not to overpay. £30 million players at best are going for crazy money.
Mykhaylo Mudryk on the last deadline day was close to Brentford for £30 Million. Now going to Chelsea for 100Millon Euros. Gakpo was going to Southampton also for £21 Mil and now has gone to Liverpool for 50+.
And that's why you don't want to be in the market for strikers in January.

If we sell Ings we better already have his replacement signed up and ready to go. He's the only consistent goal threat we've had this season. Also, what's this about Villa needing the money? We're throwing £20 million at teenagers!
