  1. I am pretty sure that we are safe for this season, but take a look at this and what do you think about next season ?

    W D

    AVFC 7 12

    B.Rovers 7 7

    Bolton 8 2

    Q.P.R. 6 7

    Wigan 5 10

    Wolves 5 7

We have only won 7 games out of 29 that is only 24% so far it is only our draws that is keeping us safe.If you take these stats and look at next season it means we will only win 9-10 games thats 27-30 points we get the rest of our points from draws, which means that we will be in the bottom 5-6 all season.

  2. I suspect that we didn’t pay £7 million straight, but a fee and a series of add ons. A great deal of the criticism is done with hindsight; at the time the fact that we beat Man City (yes Man City) who had bid more to him seemed like we had pulled off a great deal.

Well he’s turned out to not be so great (in part through injury), but I don’t think he’s the real problem here. Sure we over paid, sure he hasn’t turned out so well, but he’s not even a 1/100th of why we are in this position...

Was"ent he England under 21 at the time ?

  3. Luck has nothing to do with it.

Our club lacks leadership on all levels from owner to manager all the way down to captain and squad, thats why we'll never go on long streaks of good form and win consecutive games no matter the opposition.

We were lucky to beat Fukham.

So luck does play a part, but only a small part ( sometimes you make your owne luck )

  4. PS - just had a look at Wigan's last nine games from last season.

They were bottom with 9 games to go on 27 points.

They accumulated 15 points in those next 9 games.

If they do that again this season, they will finish the season on 40 points.

Yep. People forget that towards the end of the season, usually about half the clubs have next to nothing to play for, whereas those at the bottom are fighting for their lives - and the results reflect that. It ain't over yet.

Yes, that"s why we get shock results like Liverpool1 Wigan 2 but this season I am sure that neither Wolves or QPR have the ability to stay up, so all we have to do really is finish 17th :D

  5. No matter how you look at it you have to play every team twice. So if you play Man U then Man C then Arsenal and then Liverpool/Spurs all home and away then after 8 games you would be rock bottom with no points BUT all your remaining fixtures would be easy ones compared to the games you have just played.

You definately have to get points from the teams below you and then try to nick a point or 3 from all the other teams.Something McStupid can"t figure out.

  6. Can we stop with the McStupid/McLeish/Whatevers..... It is highly unoriginal, how about McLeiSH, Alex, or Eck?

    Seconded, children please take note

I am sorry,I can"t do that. That is asking me to show more respect than that spineless, gutless jellyfish deserves.

All you hear from him is excuses. We can"t be expected to beat the elite teams above us,We did not beat the 2 bottom teams below us,the players at Swansea and Norwich are better than our lot,the supporters don"t get behind the team etc etc etc.

BUT when something goes right for once ( our 1-0 win against Fulham ) then all you hear is " it was me, it was me, it was me, I did it, it was my calculated substitutions that got us the 3 points.

I am sick to death of this excuse for a manager and his stupid team selections, his stupid tactics, his stupid comments, and his stupid management of the team.

The very least I would expect of him is to at least try to pretend that he is a man and take the blame for his mistakes.

If you can"t be a decent manager then at least be a **** man.

However, as one Aston Villa supporter to another I will do as you ask and call him by his proper name, once, and once only.

Why don"t you do us all a favour McLeish and crawl back under the rock you came out from.

  7. I think the thing that bothers me most about McLeish is the guy's defeatist attitude. It's annoyed me recently, all this talk of 'elite' clubs that we cannot compete against. Fans' aren't thick, we watch a lot of football and we understand which teams we can realistically compete against and although our expectations can get a bit too high at times, all we ask for is that we give it a good go against any one in this league.

We're losing games before the match has started, this used to be the case under the dark days of Ellis and O'leary, when this happens the whole mindset spreads and a rot sets in. Suddenly, losing games becomes normal, not a thing to particularly worry or care about.

I've been fairly patient with McLeish, generally, because he's only here because of terrible board decisions and had a fair bit to deal with in regard to top players leaving the club; however, he has simply failed at installing any sort of belief in the players, which is the bare minimum I expect of any Villa manager. The guy is quite simply a loser. He accepts defeat too easily, he's used to defeat; he's perfectly happy to manage a team that picks up 7 or 8 wins a season. The negativity is like nothing I've ever seen.

I just don't see any good coming from this man. He's shown nothing to me that he can turn this around and with the squad possibly getting even weaker next season, to have the belief of the players on his side will become even more important, but if he doesn't even have the belief himself that Aston Villa can compete in this league, then we really have serious problems.

    Could"ent agree more. :clap::clap::clap:

  8. Irrespective of what people are saying about managers etc I think that Lerner does not have the ambition of Abramovich or the sheik (at Man C ) or the owners of Man U, no he is more the Al Feyad type who is happy as long as we don"t spend too much and stay in the premier league

  9. Yeah, you're right, what I'm showing though is that the teams around us ARE capable of picking up the necessary points...especially with the games we have to play!

You are right, but luckly for us we have a gap between us and them and I think that all we need is 2-3 points and the others will not be able to overtake us.

It"s next season that worries me cause we will get rid of some players and replace them with bosman"s and on top of that the teams that come up could all be better than the bottom 4 that we have this season.

  10. So McLeish has come out today and says that Weimann is "making a strong claim for a starting role against Chelsea".

It's too **** late for that now. He made the strongest possible claim he could make by coming on against Fulham to score the winner and you drop in favour of **** Heskey. Take your **** strong claims and **** off McLeish you clearing in the woods.

Oh yeah, and King Carlos came out today and apologised for his mistakes in the Arsenal game to the fans. Why can't McLeish do that? Face us you coward.

why should he apologize for Cuellar mistakes ;)

    You know what I meant.

He has"ent actually said that Weimann will start ! just that he is making a strong claim

  11. Take a look at this:

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Liverpool-fans-look-away-now-What-the-Premier-League-table-would-look-like-if-the-season-started-in-January-article884186.html (sorry, I don't know to link properly.

If you look, all of the teams around us have picked up between 5 and 12 points in 10-12 games...with 8 games to go and us not looking like picking up many points between now and May, it seems quite plausible that any number of the bottom clubs could pull out some huge results and grab the 10 points needed to see us down...

I do acknowledge that they have to play each other as well as some difficult sides...but it just shows that we're not as safe as people seem to think! A win would probably see us safe though...

Looking at that league table I notice that Liverpool have moved up,Bolton have moved down but the other 5 teams are still the same ( that includes us )
