  1. MON got us to the threshold of european competition, but we needed a bit more to actully cross that threshold and compete in europe on a regular basis.

and then treated it with utter disrespect and **** a lot of fans over especially the CSKA game

You can"t win them all,and McStupid is **** the fans the players the club off every week

  2. Brilliant, we can't even get games against decent MLS teams

Eh.. I think the tour is less about testing our mettle but more about building confidence. It doesn't matter who you play, if you win all your pre-season games you go into the new season on a high and I think that is the goal here. Sure we could easily have a pre-season where we play Real Madrid and Barcelona etc, but we'll just go into the new season with confidence shot after losing each game by more than 10 goals.

The way McStupid slags off the players ( saying that Swansea and Norwich have better players ) etc our players will need to build up their confidence ( not to mention their spirit ) but I don"t know if we will win all our preseason games if we play teams of a higher standard than Notts Co and Millwall etc

  3. A perfect scanario for me this Saturday would be that Villa win (obviously) really turning the style on, then during the last 10 mins or so the whole ground singing something along the lines of 'The Villa is ours, the Villa is ours, F off McLeish, the Villa is ours', or maybe something without the swearing. This would not only sound great, it would have zero effect on the players and the result but would show McLeish 100% that WE do not want him in here.

Oh well, I can dream. More like a lot of boos at HT and even more (if anyone is left) at FT.

For crying out loud,WHAT ARE YOU SAYING ???? bite your tongue.

If what you say actually happens we will be stuck with McStupid forever,he will be telling everyone what a great manager he is, and Lerner will believe him.

  4. Heskey was never ' the answer', I never remember his arrival being billed as that. He was an addition to the squad in the January transfer window. Managers don't just get given £12m and all of a sudden they can magically sign whoever they like. I am pretty sure there are other strikers O'Neill would have liked but if they weren't available would you have preferred him to sign no-one? I am not a Heskey fan, I never celebrated his arrival and I also think O'Neill should have spent more time scouting abroad.

However, blaming our inability to finish a season strongly and break into the top six is ridiculous. Man City have spent £200m getting into the Champions League, Villa spent a lot but never quite enough to guarantee a top four place.

We could spend all day arguing over who was a good O'Neill signing and who wasn't. And yes everyone has a point. But the fact is the football was much better to watch (although high tempo more than flamboyant), we finished 6th three seasons in a row, we played in Europe regularly (yes Moscow was another mistake) and we went on cup runs.

Personally I miss those days, because compared to the immediate couple of years before and after, we were successful and people thought we were a decent team.

No manager is perfect, there are better managers than O'Neill out there. But it has been proven twice now that none of them want the Villa job (especially if they are not given a big budget!) and if they ever came on this forum and saw the criticism they would get for achieving relative success in the league then I can understand why they wouldn't touch the job with a barge pole.

You are right about MON,I prefered the football and the results and our league position under him.We will never know why he bought Hesky,I think that he thought that Hesky was better than he is, dont forget he bought Hesky at Leicester so he knew the player,he just mistook his current ability. As for bad signings, well ALL MANAGERS make them, the classic example is that Italian goalkeeper that Ferguson bought ( for crissake I have seen better goalkeeoers in the sunday league ) but the way I see it is that this is where we are.

MON got us to the threshold of european competition, but we needed a bit more to actully cross that threshold and compete in europe on a regular basis.

Lerner would not give MON the extra funds so he left.

If you were in MON"S shoes and you got a team to finish 6th BUT were not allowed to spend to improve the team. Then sureley you would consider your job a waste of time.I mean you are only allowed to go so far and no further. He took us UP to 6th but was not allowed to take us any further ?! in fact we are now in the process of cutting spending so we will end up like a team who'es only ambition is to stay in the prem, the position will not matter just as long as we don"t go down.

Lerner has made it cleat that he can not afford to maintain a team in the top half of the table.

The worst part is that Lerner thinks that McStupid is the manager to have to cut costs AND stay in the prem.

HE IS SOOOOOOOO WRONG ON THAT ONE

  5. As I was going to try steam for the first time I bought "Order Of War " on special from E.B.Games.I installed Order Of War and activated it on steam,I played it for a while then I put it in offline mode and switched the PC off.The next time I switched the PC on I went to play Order Of War ( which was already in offline mode ) but when I clicked on play, the PC goes online to verify something on steam then I can start playing the game offline.I thought that offline meant that the PC does not have to go online at all ?!

So what the hell is going on ????

  6. Yep that's the way to do it. Appoint another manager that is good at one thing, getting teams relegated.

    Who has Martinez relegated?

On a shoestring, he has single handedly kept Wigan in the premier league and played fairly decent football to boot.

Did you know see Wigan, yes Wigan, play keep ball against Liverpool last week?

So what if they kept the ball and won at Liverpool. Have you not seen their league position? We beat Chelsea don't you know. Are we now saying he's a good manager because Wigan are in a relegation fight all season, Every season just to escape at the last minute? Sounds like fun.

Watching Wigan under Martinez will be like watching Villa under McStupid.....only we won't be as good.

  7. Yep that's right just focus on a manager's bad signings. Let's ignore the three sixth-placed finishes, victories against Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, the FA Cup run and Carling Cup final.

Big deal, with the amount of cash he spunked up the wall we should have achieved more.

The inbreds achieved more than us, they actually won some silverware..

The point is he closed the gap. He had to spend lots of money quickly to do that. He made mistakes in the transfer market but so does every manager. As time goes on in a job managers tend to learn from their mistakes too. O'Neill knew how to regularly to get results and was a great motivator. I'm fed up of hearing fans arguing that he wasn't good enough for a Villa side that could have realistically got relegated twice in the three years before his reign. The stats prove he was. A regular sixth-placed finish is a fantastic achievement for any club outside of the 'Big Four'.

Do you believe if he had spent any less we would have got that close to the top four? Do you believe any other manager would have achieved a lot more in under five years? Does Harry Redknapp get Spurs in the top four every year? Have we ever had the spending power of Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool or Arsenal? My answer to all those questions would be no. Some Villa fans wished for O'Neill to leave and I hope they now realise that old saying is one to always remember - 'be careful what you wish for'.

THIS !! 100% Im sick of reading the moaners with MON when we wouldnt be in the mess we are now. His motivation skills alone would see us in the top 12. AML's motivation skills will see us relegated and rightly so...

I think MON is a good manager,as for Van Gal as manager.Australia wanted him to coach the Socceroos and he turned it down.He said that Australia did not have a realistic chance of getting to the final of the world cup, so he was not interested.Under those circumstances he will not be interested in AVFC.

  8. The football is mainly shite due to the manager !!!

MON's footy was tons better than this even though our football was obvious to all we were still in for the european places.

TBH MON should never of been sacked when i put the blame mainly with Lerner because he is such an inept chairman.

I mean sending AML to see the Cleveland Browns coach who's also shocking i may add is hilarious.

Does Lerner even know the difference between a good side and a bad one or is he one of those deluded old men whos clueless.

  9. it actually wasn't believe it or not, that was a one off rant any way.

I have decided I am never gunna eat chocolate again and the problem will never be encountered again

Giving up chocolate is as hard as giving up smoking.

I gave up smoking years ago.....still trying to give up chocolate

  10. @Villastine:

As I said in my post " He would not be my first choice as manager But consider what conditions he will have to go by under Lerner.

    What conditions?? Play sh1te football??

The conditions of,selling the best players, replace with bargain buys, cut wages.

Playing shite football is not a condition, it's a byproduct of having McStupid as manager.

  11. When I first moved to Australia ( at age 49 ) I would look in the paper for jobs that interested me then I would go along to the place concerned and ask to see the personal manager.I would then try to convince him that he needed me ( of corse I took along references and CV etc ) It took me 2 weeks to get a job.In those 2 weeks I spent my time going for walks, watching TV,playing games on my PC and reading books and magazines.

  12. Went to a wedding last weekend and caught up with some friends that I have not seen for years ( they came down from England for the wedding ) that was good, also I get $5 taken out of my bank account each week and donated to Perth Cat Haven, that feels good.

As you can see from my username I love cats.

  13. what has happened since is i have had a sleep and calmed down, misses has sent her texts etc to the police, aparently he allready on a curfew for doing a similar thing to his ex misses.

Will leave it in there hands for now but someday i will bump into him am sure of it. Not sure what i will do then tbh

this guy is just a waste of the breath he breaths but these days seems like there are plenty of them around

If he is as bad as you say then when you bump into him again, introduce him to McStupid and they can both **** off to Wales. :D

  14. I think next season if McLeish stays and Bent stays, we could still go down.

If McLeish goes and we get a decent manager in but Bent goes too...I think we would have more chance of staying up, even if less than half of the Bent money got reinvested in a new striker.

    I tell you what:

The longer Lerner leaves it to get rid of McStupid the harder it will be to get us out of the shit

  15. Clubs on the way down are in need of investment so you buy them instead. Clubs on the way up dont need it. Chelsea being a perfect example.

    Chelsea ?!

What did they ever win before Abramovich took over ??

I think they won the FA Cup back in the days of Peter Bonneti and chopper Harris. On top of that Abramovich replaced the whole squad, not just the whole team.Talk about investing/spending.

  16. If you take a look at what is now available in our squad even Fergie or 'The Special One' would struggle to get a few wins with our remaining games. The fact that we have AM at the helm fills me with absolute dread as to what is going to happen.

If McStupid had Fergie's or the special one's squad we would still struggle to win a game.

In fact McStupid could have Guardiola's squad and we would still struggle to win.
