  1. I predict a 4-4-2 with Ireland wide and Weimann and Gabby up front based on the spiel coming out of VP.

I would really like to see that formation start the game.

Starting with 1 striker at home is utter crap.

I am sure that if we are somehow losing to this lot then we can depend on Mickey Mouse McLeish to make a couple of calculated substitutions in the 87th and the 91st minute to turn the game around. :?

  2. The spirit looked absolutely bang on last weekend

The best of seen it for years

You dont see team spirit on the pitch, thats in the dressing room and on the training ground.

How do you work that out? :?

Team spirit is how the players feel not how they play.

Put it this way, reading this forum you know how the supporters feel,so how do you think the players feel ? Thats team spirit :)

  3. Ah Puss don't talk too soon.

I won't be breathing any easier unless we take all 3 points from Bolton next week.

We've got tough tough fixtures ourselves after that one.

I agree we were very fortunate to win in the 93rd against Fulham, but dare I say we were due a bit of luck.

It kind of counts for nothing though if Bolton come and turn us over. A lot of people calling for Weimann to start the next one. I'd probably be tempted to go with..

    Given

    Hutton Cuellar Collins Warnock

    Albrighton Herd Petrov N'Zogbia

    Ireland

    Agobonlahor

again just to try and find a bit of rhythm and consistently, but definitely bring Weimann on earlier this time if we're in a 0-0 or worse situation.

If you look at it from another angle.

Wigan are really down already..just waiting for the mathematics

QPR have the worst fixture list of anyone at the bottom

Wolves are not doing great and under their new manager look worse off

Bolton, I saw them last week and they are crap

I am sure that this season we will not need 40 points to stay up and I would say that we are safe already.

  4. To try and keep balanced about this - my current take

    Pro's

    - Seems to have got the defending at set pieces issue sorted out. Its been quite a few weeks now since we conceded a corner which is a welcome relief after conceding in same way every week for previous 18 months.

    - Also seems to have landed upon a better defensive organisation. Maybe more luck than anything here. But the tranquilliser he's giving Warnock seems to have done the trick the last few weeks and even Hutton has managed some "ok" performances which is a major plus. Even Collins has decided to keep the ball a little better.

    Cons

    - I am a bit worried about his slowness in thought when it comes to tactics. In quite a few of our recent games we have been pretty good in first half and then pretty clueless again in second half. Each time the opposing team just gets tighter on Ireland or Keane and cuts off the supply line. We don't seem to have a plan B for what is becoming an increasingly obvious response.

    - Subbing - I don't see Heskey as a match winner and if I'm trying to score a goal I think Zog has a better chance than Albrighton right now

    Here are some more cons.

the Dipsticks style of management has far reaching consiquences for the team, the club and for the supporters.Read on.

1-We have gone from an attacking team to a holding or defensive team

2-The teams attitude has gone from lets win to lets not lose

3-Team spirit must have gone down considering our position, our style of play and our results.

4-The team is getting used to not winning.

    5-Apparently a draw is a decent result.

6-the lower down the league we are the harder it is ro attract decent players.

I remember the days when Villa Park was a place opposition teams did not look forward to playing at.

We could not beat the two bottom teams, for crying out loud ?!

There is only one person to blame for all this ...................

    Mickey Mouse McLeish

  5. As is mentioned in other posts we had something like 46 shots and only scored 2 goals, that tells me one thing.

Mc Clueless has changed the players mindset already, you cant blame them, after playing his brand of football for 8 months what else can you expect ?!

Thats why we had 44 misses and only 2 goals ..........the team know how to run up and down the park but they have lost the killer punch playing under Mickey Mouse McLeish

    What complete and utter bollocks!

Youre seriously saying that Mcleish has coached the strikers not to score?!

Trust me, i bet mcleish is as frustrated as many a Villa fan. Seeing all those chances go to waste has **** all to do with management. Having that view just shows what a bitter, twisted anti-ginger fan you really are.

First of all, I admit I am an anti -ginger fan.The reason for that is because of what he is doing to my/our team,it is a long time since we played this badly.

As for my post. You have either mistaken what I have said or you dont understand what I am trying to say.I said that the players have a different "mindset" and that is why they are having problems scoring.

You cant spend 8 months bieng a defensive team in the Premier League and then overnight change into an attacking one ?!

Attack and defence are at opposite ends of the scale, you cant change from one to the other just like that.In other words no he is not coaching the strikers not to score but he is coaching everyone to be more defensive and thats why scoring is harder.

  6. Brett will be a decent signing,he will need to get used to the pace of the English game but once he has done that he should be ok.He is an attack minded player, so thats good.I am from Perth West Australia so I have seen Brett play quite often for the Socceroos,he wont let us down.

  7. And one last thing i thought i would add: I don't give a shit if he's from SHA or what not.

Its the fact I know he's a shit manager and always will be a shit manager.

You don't get many of his ex players singing his praises but you do get them slagging his playing style off.

Its the same playing style that will see players want out of this club and the same that will see Villa rightfully relegated.

Because the football we play is of that quality.

Here is another exciting angle ..........

As is mentioned in other posts we had something like 46 shots and only scored 2 goals, that tells me one thing.

Mc Clueless has changed the players mindset already, you cant blame them, after playing his brand of football for 8 months what else can you expect ?!

Thats why we had 44 misses and only 2 goals ..........the team know how to run up and down the park but they have lost the killer punch playing under Mickey Mouse McLeish :!:

  8. Mcleish was lucky, Villa were lucky but by god I'd rather that than a loss given our position

Fulham just cant perform well away from home

Oh and Mcleish and Lerner OUT

There is nothing to worry about this term.

Wigan are near enough to out already,Bolton are crap ( I watched them last week at home ) and QPR havent got a hope in hell given their fixture list :D

  9. We've had 46 attempts on goal in the last 3 games yet only scored 2 goals.

Compare that to arsenal who have had 39 attempts on goal in their last 3 games yet scored 10 goals.

Corrct me if im wrong but boring and negative wouldn't have meant so many attempts on goal?

    very true

didnt we have 23 shots vs QPR a month ago. its a lot better than at start of the season and if people took off their anti-mcleish blinkers they could see it

no blinkers, just watching game after game. to be fair it couldnt have been much worse than the start of the season but doesnt mean now is satisfactory by any means.

Instead of having 46 shots at goal and only 2 going in,I would prefer it if we had only 3 shots at goal and 2 went in.

Surley what matters most is how many shots go in ?!

I mean if you blast one 20 feet over the bar it still counts as a shot on goal, not a very good one but a shot at goal none the less.So the point I am trying to make is that I am not interested in watching us have 46 shots at goal and the goalie does not even have to try to save any of them.

  10. Bolton Vs QPR was the early game last week so I watched it before the Villa game and Bolton are crap. And this was at home.If we cant put more than 1 goal past them then there is something seriously wrong.
