We got commissioned to do a  project for Nestle  a few years back and we had to test about 30 or 40 different variations of new Kit Kat flavours  …we had hundreds of bars left over so I used to give them to friends , this was the one that most of them came back to me to ask if I had anymore of , all be it they only knew it as K483 …

weird thing is the project was with a view to Kit Kat launching a dairy milk type sized large bar and the survey’s were to see what flavours were popular, to my knowledge I don’t think they have released such a bar , but they have launched loads of the flavours we tested

  2. I could probably quote every episode of Blackadder verbatim so I guess I’d have to say that was the best

but others worthy of mention , indeed already have been mentioned

    Thick of it

    Alan Partridge

    Porridge

    Father Ted

what we do in the shadows

    The IT crowd

Inbeweeners - for the boring thread but ,my house could have been one of the filming locations had I replied to the leaflet delivered asking us if we were interested in allowing our house to be used for a TV show  called Baggy Trousers ( original name for the inbetweeners )

and of course Bottom - the slapstick comedy in bottom makes it timeless where as The Young ones which 13 year old me loved , 53 year old me watches it on U.K. gold and occasional gem of a line apart struggles to raise a snigger

I know generally American comedy isn’t great but I do have a soft spot for Malcom in the middle , it’s just so well written and the characters are great

  3. one of my mates is bald and wears a hat of some description when we go out drinking , not a vanity thing , more a keeping warm thing between pubs

the same mate loses his hat every time we go out drinking ... I'm amazed he survives the night still wearing trousers tbh ,  its not like you can't feel something like that missing from your head and think ,oh hang on

of course it becomes a great source of amusement , every time he puts it down on a table someone hides it or we will give it to some friendly types on the next table and get one of them to wear it and see if he notices

he must spend a fortune on them

Should Villa try and win the league?  What happens if you fall a bit short of your target and it takes a bit more time. You’re still closer to your ultimate aim.

to use your Villa analogy  , have a look at the outcome ( and the merriment)  around the "5 year plan"  .. we got further from the ultimate aim

We all want to go green and reduce carbon impacts but , ultimately people don't want to pay the price  ...   hey look this item made in worlds number one polluter China  is cheaper than this one made by free range unicorns in England , think I'll buy the Chinese one  .. hey look I can get the train to Manchester for £300 return or I can fly for £65 return  .. if countries / governments  are serious they can do actual stuff , not just spout out soundbites

as i say , we don't have to give up , and to my knowledge the SNP haven't given up , they've just moved the time frame to one that was more realistic

Can you explain to me what's happening here?

I know zero about Scottish politics but to row back on net zero agreements when you're in a coalition with The Greens seems insane.

not as insane as going into a coalition with the Greens  :)

I think like the rest of the world they've realised the target was frankly bollocks and they need more time  .. at least the rest of the world did it without blaming England though

So the island is that little bit of land in the middle of the old dock :crylaugh:

looks more like a neighbourhood fued .. I'm fed up with those people from Barry coming over making love to my goat , I'll build a moat to stop them

    BBC vox pops.

I’m obviously sensitive to this 20mph thing at the moment, and there was a vox pop section on the local news yesterday, the usual old biddies in Pontypandy being given equal billing to legislation experts and crash injury statistics.

but my stand out favourite was the woman who was very against 20mph. Her reason?

”if you are driving at 20 and someone behind is going faster than you, they could ram in to you”

Personally I don’t  think it’s  as good as my old argument that if you were doing 40 mph you’d be further up the road when the child runs out / cyclists ignores a give way and rides  straight through it , thus you wouldn’t hit them … but i think you’ve just encountered my soul mate 😀

But they do a cracking sausage roll.

and Morrisons are the only supermarket that sell pork knuckles , the finest food on the planet , unless you are one of those weird ones that would rather munch on something made of pea protein and pretending to be a pig

shame they've doubled the price of them over the last year or so , but hey ho , you can't really put a price on slow enjoyable death by crackling

It was always a similar thing with cars wasn’t it? Skoda always out performed Mercedes on the old JD Power surveys.

But it was often the case that a Merc with a squeak went straight back to the garage, whereas a Skoda driver would just turn the radio up, cos its a Skoda.

tbh I'm not familiar with JD power surveys , but I thought the original Skoda were terrible  and the source of jokes ..how do you double the value of your Skoda , put petrol in it  etc

the Octavia then started to win a few awards and the quality was undoubtable better , but its surprising to learn  it was outperforming a marque brand

Or note sleeve? What in the name of cashless society are you doing???

tbh I use my phone for everything these days , Money via Apple pay , train tickets on trainline   , Ringo for car parks  , loyalty cards  , Uber for the journey home  you name it the phone will do it

That said , when I go for a night out on the hoy , just as I'm leaving I go back and pickup my wallet , with cash and cards in  ..just in case  .. just can't quite break the habit

  11. It could be expectation , you go into Aldi and Lidl expecting it to be cheap crap and are pleasantly surprised when it isn't ...

As someone involved in blind testing all I can tell you is that when we blind test their products v some other stores and brands , Aldi and Lidl  pretty much always come last  , on the whole it tends to be the major brand that comes first , there are some exceptions ,  Waitrose own brand OJ tends to out perform Tropicana for example .( though if you are a regular buyer of those products , In a lot of cases you'd would be able to identify it by the familiarity of its  appearance or taste ) ..

One of my regular projects is visiting every supermarket chain and purchasing some product for internal testing  , as part of it I usually have a good mooch around the store   , Lidl do some excellent macaroons , Asda have the strawberry cheesecake flavour Milky bars , Aldi do a great crème brulee nougat and some fairly sizeable Big Daddy steaks   .... generally I'll eat any brands I'm not fussed  , but the Aldi fake peanut M&M's are not as good at the real thing  , their Seal bars are as good a penguins though

Got petrol earlier, walked in, young lad behind the counter, smiled and spoke to him in German

    "nummer drei bitte"

Instant response "that's €24.99* please" in perfect English "thank you have a good night"

How do they know? What gives it away, it was too instant to only be the black country twang, he had to have anticipated it as I walked to the counter

And how am I ever meant to learn German?! Even the kid at the petrol station talks English to me

    * don't judge me, it's €24.99 or €25.01

I’ve had the same in Hungary , though tbh I speak Hungarian with an accent like Dick van Dyke in Mary Poppins

On the other hand, Trump had dinner with Duda (Polish Prez) the other day; they get on quite well. Now notice Trump's lack of comment on the aid bill?

far as I know he didn't comment direct in favour or against the bill ?

but last week he said something along the lines of  Ukrainian Survival is much more important to Europe than to us, but it is also important to us!

Russia is gaining ground all the time now

It was on the radio when i got in the car the other day and i'd missed the beginning and full full context , but is sounded like the expert was saying Russia is gaining around 100 meters of Ukrainian land a week  , its not the great push they wanted ... Assuming the new found money can get turned into weapons and ammunition very quickly a lot of those gains can probably be taken back quite quickly
