What is it with people and arty shots on here :-)
The D70 is a good camera and like the shots I get with my EOS , you kind of feel that it's hard to actually take a bad photo , such is the quality of these cameras ....
Then it comes down to trying to get something different I guess .. I like my shots to show content but then sometimes they can just look a bit bland .. My B-17 shot earlier in this thread , i really like , but it sort of lacks some Wow factor , maybe because i got so close and it needs some cloud to break it up or give the effect of movement
a building is just a building at the end of the day ..so what you and Bick's have done in your shots does give it a nice slant and make it interesting ..
It started as bit of a joke , but I take my sons stuffed toy with me on my travels and try and get a photo of it in front of a landmark ...just gives the whole thing a bit more interest ...you'll see what i mean here ...

i just feel that the subject matter is whats important in the pic of bride and groom, they are the focus, the very reason for the shot, and they simply seem far too small, dwarfed by the compostion.
I think I would have tried to get in a little closer, and simply used the hedge and gate post as the natural borders of the shot.
must admit I'm the same , but having seen your reply , i now know that these photo's weren't the only ones .. must confess when i take some of my snaps i take a long view and a close up and more detailed shot ..it's usually the long shot that I delete ..all about personal preference i guess
but nothing wrong with either shot , I like the top one more of the two

Well as a bit of a chocoholic, i found this little gem interesting
The average chocolate bar has 8 insect legs in it.

MON has the safest job in football for the next 4 years at least

Mourinho will end up at Real or Barcelona next I would imagine ....

how was the bright sunshine hindering you? reflections? shutter speed to fast?
the lancaster colour was ok but the hurricane and spitfire just appeared black , as did a lot of the airborn shots i took.. i brought the colours out a wee bit in photoshop , but i think it makes the lancaster look a bit too bright ..the B17 i had to touch up a bit as well to give it some colour ..the acrobatic shots are untouched .... I noticed a lot of people had a sort of extended cover around their lense , does that help prevent glare ?
-
some i took today at Shoreham Airshow
I'm quite pleased with some of them , but can't help but think the air shots need something to give that impression of speed
the sun shining brightly today seemed to hinder getting some good photo's ... guess I need something for my lense to get around this ?
Anyway ..here they are scaled down (they look a lot better on the originals), any tips gratefully received

i use a Canon EOS300d as it's taken one hell of a battering over the years
It's a good camera at a reasonable price in that if it's stolen or damaged I'm not going to cry as much than if i were to loose a couple of grands worth of camera ...anyway on my travels I usually take shots of landmarks , famous buildings etc ..usually I can get by with my 18-55mm lense but I was wondering about also getting a wide angle lense so I can get a bit more in without having to walk back and risk people walking in front of the shot
see examples below
also would a wide angle lense do panoramic views ....would i get a lot more into a shot like this ,for example ?
I was thinking of the Canon EF 35mm f/2 ..again price is quite reasonable and it will get battered about so I don't want to spend thousands on it
thanks

we're all big boys after all..
from the rumours I've heard , that's just not true about you :-)
seriously , i agree with what your saying , but some people post a reply without counting to 10 ... and as Rev says , it can be quite painful to read unmoderated arguements going on that usually over shadow some very good and valid points of view in a topic ....

Ive voted but dont know what to write!!
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool , than open one's mouth and remove all doubt

My site , my rules
would be how i would view the internet
you've seen how some threads turn into a war zone on here , so without some form of moderation , it would just scare away those that just want to have some idle banter / friendly but heated discussion
The world would be a boring place if we all agreed on everything but healthy debate is one thing ,point scoring and abuse is something else

My thoughts on the game
A lot of same old , same old for me really ...
With the injection of pace we have in the team I expected us to play an up tempo hit them quick game ..Anyone remember the game where we had to beat Man U for a place in Europe ...We hit the Man U crossbar and 20 seconds and 4 passes later we are 1-0 down ..with Villa we break and then some one stops on the ball looks up and passes it back 40 yards
I thought Barry was a class act again today , of course everyone is going to be drooling about Gerrard but for my money Barry was the best midfielder on the pitch today ... yeah I know he put a bit of a dive in , but to be fair he had been fouled about 3 times before he decided to go to ground .
Gardner showed he is going to be a first team regular today as well ..sure he was caught out of position a few times but his tackling was good (the one near the end of the match where he and a Liverpool player had to both run for the 50 /50 showed he has heart and is a winner (shame the linesman then gave the throw to Liverpoll ,but what else do we expect!!) and as for his first half drag back when the forward was breathing down his neck ..loved it .. I see a lot of Jo Cole type of play in Gardner ..long may he continue to improve
Now for the controversal part ..Carew ... I actually think Harewood would be the better option for us playing this role .Carew looks slow and clumsy at least Harewood is fast and clumsy and I think will cause more problems for defenders ...maybe he has a knock still and i wont write him off after 1 game but he does seem to be going backwards over the past few game for Villa..the promise of Newcastle away and West Ham home seems but a distant memory now
Back 2 looked comfortable , couple of times they went for the same ball and the back 4 did seems to be playing in isolation at times but i think that was more due to the formation we were playing , but more on that later. Bouma looked in good condition , coped well with Pennant , shame he still seems unable to pass a ball or deliver a cross
Young looked great second half , amount of times first half when he was on the right when he woudl be asking for the ball in an overlap position and we would punt it 40 yards over to the left , but second half when we gave him the ball and let him run he created chances for us
Reo-Coker & Petrov had quiet games , i expected better form these 2 .. I don't think the formation helped them
Cahill came on and didn't look in any real trouble ..is Davies going to be any better than Cahill ??
Gabby again showed that playing him deepe doesn't suit him ..where as Young was taking a defender on with his runs from deep , Gabby doesn't know how to do this , so he needs to play up front on the shoulder of the target man .at times when Carew did win the flick the nearest Villa player was too far off him.
so onto MON .. lining up with 4-3-3 against Liverpool was in my opinion always going to be a mistake and lets be honest they strolled through our midfield at times , we already had Gardner playing out of position , but to have no RM in front of him was almost beyond belief .. second half we seemed to play more of a 5 man midfield leaving Carew up front on his own ..whatever it was it still didn't really work .. lets just play a nice 4-4-2 with Barry & Reo Coker in the middle with Young on the right and Berger on the left and see how we get on .... the trouble seems to be that MON wants to keep Petrov in the side and thus has to adapt the system to make it happen , not a dig at MON or petrov but I think we have to accept that Barry & Reo Coker is going to be our best option in that CM area.
I didn't expect a win yesterday, i did expect just a little bit more from us though ...but there is a long way to go yet so no need for doom and gloom just yet ..
Match Ratings
Taylor 8 - flapped at 2 crosses , but some great saves ...deserves to keep his place for Newcastle
Bouma 7 -
Melberg 7.5
Laursen 7
Gardner 8 - MOM for me , sure he made mistakes , but playing out of position and taking one in the nuts for the team says it all for me
Young 7
Barry 7.5
Reo Coker 6
Petrov 5
Carew 5
Gabby 5
Sub cahill 7

when you watch re-runs the grandad character kind of ruins it for me

People that drive those ugly new Bentley's ..you may be rich but you clearly have no taste .....
some C*ock near me always parks his Bentley in the disabled bays casue he has this i'm too important to walk 30 foot attitude and I'm soo rich I can afford the fines ...I'm going to find someone in a wheelchair next time and give them some help and accidently scrap the chair all along his car ..
I'd have to agree with Nick as well ...women drivers , they really are awful and should be banned from the roads

South Park is simply off the radar, it's so shite.
can't believe I just read that
I show that has Tom Cruise in town hiding in Cartman's wardrobe with the whole town outside saying "come out the closet Tom " and so forth for the whole episode a teacher called Miss Chokesondick , cartman telling the jewish kid with ADD that maybe he needs to go to a concentration camp
find me a funnier comedy show
Trust me it's funnier than i just made it sound , comedy writing doesn't appear to be me strongest subject ....
-
South Park
Whilst Homer is funny , Cartman is just the greatest character ever created ..Would love to know how they get away with some of the things he says ..........
incedently i watched family gauy for the first time last week , and the fat guy in that is a blatant rip off of Homer

'Should public kissers be jailed'.
yeah , but then this post wouldn't get a single reply ..throw the word "gay" into a post and it will go on like the duracel bunny
-
I voted Yes and not afraid to say so ...
to be honest I would vote "yes" if it was a man and a women as well .. a small peck is one thing , full on tongue in public is just not required ... or do I have Victorian values on this subject ??

Hundreds of people have protested in Rome after two men were arrested for kissing in front of the Colosseum.
The pair, known only as Roberto and Michele, were held for about 40 minutes last Friday over what police said were lewd acts in public.
They face charges relating to obscene actions and could be jailed for up to two years if found guilty.
