  1. Hi General

I know it's old news now but as Baros has openly admitted that Mouriniho tapped him up after the Villa v Chelsea game , can we make a formal complaint to the FA. Chelsea are already on dangerous ground tapping up players from other clubs and it's time they were stopped , after all if we don't act , imagine next season after we've just spanked them 3-0 to win the title and he try's to tap up Ashley Young

Before your team Villa were charged by the FA for tapping up a player who didn't even join us , so precedent has already been set in this regard

  2. New Order, Joy Division

Just curious but did \does the seemingly fascist overtones in the names they chose for their group(s) affect your feelings on listening \ purchasing their music ?

I know they have always denied it but prior to Joy Division they were called Warsaw ,s o there is a distinct pattern emerging .. deliberate or just to provoke controversy ?

  3. We all know you only post to slag him off and ignore anything good he does, handy that.

The question was asked was he at fault for Carricks goal ..so I posted Radio 5's opinion .. I made no other comment so fail to see where the slagging him off from your post comes into it ??

Kiraly got slated for his 1 big mistake in a Villa shirt and everyone scream bring back the Dane he's great ,yet the Dane has made howlers and yet the blinkers stay on and we daren't criticise him.. he's had some great games for Villa but there is no point in earning us a point at Spurs away if he's going to gift the next team we play 3 points . On the whole he doesn't communicate with his back line , his kicking is awful and he can't really deal with crosses ..

For a team that has aspirations of joining the elite the simple fact is that goalkeeper is an area we need to improve on

  4. Iforgot to say that Tommy should perhaps have saved Carricks shot for the second goal. Hard to tell from the angle I was at, but it wasn't the most powerful shot, and it wasn't right into the corner.

Radio 5 said he should have saved it , still we all know Tommy is infallible :-)

  5. Try a circular polarizer, very useful for minimising reflections etc..

if i used something like this would i have to keep taking it off when i 'm taking normal outdoor shorts ?

I think the problem I had with the Everest through the window shot is the canon with it's auto focus points focuses on the window and blurs the distant image making it hard to get a decent shot , rather than a reflection ...

  6. Just for the record, there was some scurrilous rumour from Teamtalk being touted by John Cresswell that Watford had had enquiries for Ashley Young, maybe even from Villa.

just came here to post the exact same thought !!

foiled again .. I need to be a bit quicker off the mark ..well not according to the wife , but certainly in the posting on here context ...

    edit

my second NY resolution should be to look at the screen and see what's being typed thus removing these typo's of mine ...

  7. I use an EOS 300d , which gives some good results without getting into the area of expensive cameras ..it's taken a battering over the years going up mountains and even had the rubber coating on the grip melt due to the heat in India , if I had an expensive camera I'd be scared to take it to half the places I've been so the 300 gets my thumbs up ....

few photo's that I'd appreciate any tips on for improving the way they were taken .. I usually take my pictures on medium ,fine setting for size purposes ..using the max res or RAW just eats up memory and makes images hard to email or work with ..

I was leaving a club in Moscow at 6 am and was able to stagger back and get my camera to take this one of sunrise over Red square , with no people about which I'm quite pleased with considering the shakes I had .. the original is far nicer but I reduced detail for web friendliness

it's shadows that cause the major moans for me with this photo , am I expecting too much ??

This was taken behind a glass case in Berlin Museum which I quite like as I couldn't use the flash due to reflection on the glass and didn't have a tripod so had to use slow shutter speed and pray I could keep the camera still

    http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/4104/sepiaxs6.jpg

this one was taken inside the Vatican , again no tripod which maybe I ought to purchase !!

    http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/4201/img5309nx5.jpg

I was trying to get that sort of divine image with the light coming through but didn't quite pull it off , there is actually a cross visible to the naked eye through the middle window but couldn't get the angle \light right to reveal it ..any suggestions ??

and lastly for my free photo taking lesson :-)

Mt Everest taken through the plane window think I had a UV filter on in this shot , but the window was a bit tinted and I think spoilt the results a bit ..but any help for improving results on a photo taken through a window ??

thanks for any suggestions , criticisms etc etc

  8. You de funny man - By the way BA give the Mail not the Torygraph as the paper of choice - Gold card yourself?

it's def the Torygrpah when I fly , none of this take it from the stand as you walk on the plane , someone irons it and brings it over to me with my glass of bucks fizz ...

  10. I thought it was the usual Villa this season a la West Ham & Watford where we could have (and should have ) been out of sight but in the end had to settle for a draw.

I have to also say that I hope Sheff Utd go down , this long throw and bombardment of the box should have died out with Wimbledon in the 80's ..The Sheff utd team that played us off the park a few seasons back under DOL played with flair and skill ..the current team just made me want to switch channels at time.

So on to the match and my TV ratings

Taylor 8 Thought he made some vital saves , is improving for his run in the side and it would be interesting to see if Tommy is an automatic return to the team (assuming Taylor isn't himself now out injured)

Bouma 5 - I think he's proved beyond doubt he is not the left back for us , out of position too many times and his lack of pace really counts against him in the Prem

Cahill 6 - 2 own goals for him but not really a lot he could do about either ... Shows he has some work to do before he becomes Terry's partner in the England back 4 , but he has time

Ridgewell 6 - the usual Jekell & Hyde , something good followed by something bad ..he kind of reminds me of Brendan Ormsby in this regard

Olly 5 - Showing again that he isn't comfortable as a Right Back , often out of position and his distribution was awful .. Early in the season he was bringing the ball out and pass on the deck , now he's gone back to the big hoof ..move him back to the centre and lets have the composed Olly back

Davis 5 - faded as the game went on , not sure how he fits into our current squad and the way MON wants to play

McCann - 7 more noticable on the TV how much work he did and how many vital tackles he made ..got in where it hurted , keep it up Gavin

Petrov - 6.5 the spark that we have lacked for years in midfield , now MON just needs to keep working on how we get the best out of him

Gaby - 4 not really a threat , not really in the game (not all his fault) his pace may eb a threat but yesterday the ball seemed to get stuck under his feet ..probably more likely to be a threat as an out and out striker ,I'm sure his time will come but we shouldn't expect too much from him this season

Sutton 7 a threat througout the game and a good call by MON to play him over Angel

Baros 6.5 looks a bit laboured when running to my eyes , but the goal will have done him good and he put a lot more effort in today

Subs not really on long enough to rate

I will say I thought Halsey did a great job yesterday , he tried to let play go on wherever possible , he used his common sense on the whole regarding tackles and fouls so a big well done to the referee

  11. if he'd brought him down, wouldn't that have been an automatic red and therefore suspension.

and how about if he positioned himself correctly and made a challenge and won the ball ??

it was bad becuase he decided to play the man and not the ball and then thought of the repercussions and pulled out .. great run by Distin and not having a go at Ridgewell here I just doubt you will see a worse example of defending all season

  12. My ratings :

Stuart Taylor - 6 – started positivly when coming out for a cross , does tend to parry a lot of shots though . some good saves but I also felt maybe , just maybe he could have done better with the barton goal ??

Olof Mellberg - 5 – Vassell seems to give him the jitters and he never looked comfortable

Liam Ridgewell - 4 – the worse defending i've ever seen in the Prem for the Distin goal , a night to forget for Liam

Gary Cahill - 6 – This guy is going to going to be better than John Terry , does seem to look as though he finds it all to easy at times and switches off a bit , almost the same thing that Rio Ferdinand is often guilty of ..now lets move Ollie back into the middle with him and give Villa a aprtnership to conquer Europe with

    Wilfred Bouma – 4 – it's no secret I don't rate Bouma .. this performance showed why

Gabriel Agbonlahor - 4 – gave us nothing tonight , not the lads fault , just RM doesn't really suit him

Gavin McCann - 5 – wasn't in the game for the first hour , then scored and played like his early season form .

Stiliyan Petrov - 5 – really want him to be a big big player for us , didn't show enough last night to suggest MON has find the right role for him yet(hint he can play RM)

Gareth Barry – 5 – probably the worse I've seen him play for years

Milan Baros – 4 – will be gone in the new year ..a shame as I think he could have been good for us

Juan Pablo Angel - 4 – his best work as always was being done around the half way line with some nice touch play , a good link up player , but not what we need and another player who may be under threat coem Jan

    Substitutes:

Steven Davis – 5 - briefly helped us rally until Distin made the game safe

thought City played some nice slick football today.. kind of how we started the season with the ball on the deck .. last night for some reason we decided to aim it pointlessly in the air ... and watch it come straight back at us . Our brief rally where we made City look average was when we played the ball on the floor and kept possession .... a lesson to be learnt me thinks

Under Ellis we would have been worried as we knew it wouldn't get any better , at the moment we are all just hoping we can stay in touch until Jan and then push on with the new signings ..let's just hope those new signings match our dreams ...

  13. I agree and I'm sure we only signed Sutton cause MON is not convinced by Baros and his attitude and therefore felt we need some cover , Agathe was a kind of stop gap for Milner I guess ..both out of contract and better options (although only just) of MON having to put his boots on turn out for us.

Lerner came in too late for Aug deadline , I'm certain we will sign 5 players in Jan with possible only Baros leaving . Who the 5 are i have no idea but i expect it to be 2 strikers , 1RM ,1CB & 1 RB ... the only question being are the players that MON wants going to be available in Jan

Keane seems to be one name , is Keane the man to take us to European glory ?? I'd say no but he's getable and will do the job for stage 1 as will the other 4.

Our brand name is still too low to attract the big names , this season is to get us on the map , following season is where we go for World domination
