  1. Talk of sacking Houllier is obviously now academic. It was a great "backs to the wall display" and in many ways a very enjoyable game. But I am still very uncomfortable with the way we are set up. An attacker on the left wing, a left winger as a right sided central midfielder doesn't IMHO make sense - can anyone suggest why Houllier plays them out of position like this? The only reasons I can come up with for Gabby playing left is that he can get back to defend faster and hold up play better than Downing. But Downing in the centre seems totally wrong.
  2. Almost certain they have accepted bid and are now just haggling over when they are going to get the money. Bent's presence in Brum is evidence of how close this deal is. Despite the SSN guy in Sunderland bitching the principle of installments is not unusual and they know it!
  3. Apparrently Bent handed in Transfer request last August - I wonder if we were involved back then?
  4. Yes I have heard more activity to come (ins and outs)I now think there is more chance of Downing leaving Liverpool bid for Downing??
  5. The bad news is that there is strong talk of Young to Liverpool and more activity to come?!! Don't know how true this is though
  6. I am being told different but then again who knows if sources have it right! Could be BS but seem certain it's done!
  7. That'll do me - anyone at home in the FA cup is a good draw!!
  8. For avoidance of doubt: Sack him so we can move on! IMO Houllier will never cut it with Villa - he is now damaged goods and there is too much to repair.
  9. Burton away would be excellent! Would be nice to play The Brewers
  10. Sam would get us out of this mess, Raffa would only cause more shite with his players like Ged the Red, plus he'd come in and keep up this Liverpool love in that we have had. I want Houllier out but FFS I don't want either of these idiots anywhere near Villa!
  11. I think that is quite quite wrong on a number of levels. We can no longer concern ourselves with performances we need wins for a start In addition we cannot keep saying"keep playing that way and we'll be safe", it's results we need Exactly, I don't give a damn how we do it along as we win. If we lose he has to go! we should never have been in this situation!
  12. An Emphatic NO, if he has been brought to sort things out as certain posters have suggested, he has done a pretty crap job of it and put the club in jeopardy!
  13. This! we are still walking the tightrope and as the results last night illustrated the teams around us are also fighting for their premiership lives. We desperately need a win tonight!
  14. A bit sickening when your sub makes a silly mistake that leads to the goal!!!
  15. Sky are desperate for a Chelsea goal and or a Villa player to be sent off. They and the ref are disgraceful!!!!
  16. It is hard to tell fact from fiction at the moment and i still believe there is a lot of Smoke & Mirrors designed to support a failing manger. However after my little contretemps with MysteryMan on the Houllier thread I have made him a partial apology for suggesting he was a club flunky and now accept some of what he has said - that said I stand by the right to challenge His ITK comments that are too often taken by many as being Unchallengeable facts. That said it was suggested that one of the players was very very negative about the club and the area. I therefore have in the last hour made a few enquiries from others who are undoubtedly ITK and whilst I still think Houllier is weak and has to go there is a certain LB who should NEVER be allowed to wear the Villa colours again and if he plays against Chelsea it will just further prove how weak Houllier really is. I don't really care whether people believe me or not but irrespective of my position on Houllier I am now willing to accept that we have at least one clearing in the woods on our squad who needs to be booted out!
  17. Ok so how long do we give him? I hope to God we win but if we don't get three points against Sunderland will people still be saying we need to get behind him? I doubt it and suspect the board will act! Then again if we beat Sunderland how many will say everthing is now rosy is the garden and the future under Houllier is suddenly bright again? Whatever happens at this critical game I stand by my original assertion that Gerard Houllier is not the right manager for AFVC although I am sure he is a lovely man, Husband, father and grandfather who is also kind to animals!
