    Interesting tweet from James Nursey in relation to PL's approach: 1st impressions of Lambert at *AVFC v favourable. Positive, enthusiastic, smiling & cracking jokes. Suggests modifying media style. I didn't see it but suggests that for Lambert this was engaging.

    Is the speculation just based on twitter rumours or is there something more to it than that? Sky Sports News reporting we will make an approach in the next 24 hours. I'm not saying it won't happen but are we supposed to think that Villa are leaking this to the press? Just doesn't strike me as the way we've done things to date.

    Started with 8 straight defeats? Wigan 1-1 Norwich Sat 13 Aug Swansea 0-0 Wigan Sat 20 Aug Wigan 2-0 QPR Sat 27 Aug They did then go on to lose 8 in a row but had to play Spurs, Everton, Man City and Newcastle in that period. I'm not defending the stat, just saying the way you laid it out was misleading.

    Not sure anyone advocating Martinez is pretending the stats aren't damning but at the end of the season Wigan finished above Villa with far less resources than ourselves. That's why many, myself included, would be willing to give Roberto a try. Lambert would be a more obvious choice, probably more successful in the short-term at least. However I really feel we need a completely new approach at Villa and Roberto might just be the man to implement it. Worth a gamble imho.

    Ole for me. Lambert is certainly not a bad choice but I think the goodwill that seems to be behind OGS is crucial at at a time when the whole club needs to pull together. Ole Martinez Lambert Would be my order of preference.

    The more I think about Solskjaer the more I think - yeah, why not. Brilliant record as a player should command respect. Managed the MU reserves for 4 years before going to Norway and winning Molde their first league. Supervises a kids academy in his home town. (yes, obv. I'm getting this from Wikipedia) But the point is - has done a lot with academy kids. I'm sure this is key to RL's thinking.
