  1. Im not sure if this is a wind up or not?? STu - if we keep this clown we are going down - mark my words!
  2. Last time I looked we were above Stoke and Everton and we had drawn with Newcastle (who have had an unbelievable start and WILL implode (results wise) no doubt about it). I don't see how your concluding that 9th after 10 games means that we need Eriksson to come and save us from the humiliation of relegation? Win on Saturday and we are on 15 points - Probably only 4 points off being half way to safety, with only a third of the season gone. Calm down Maybe they are right now, but lets look at who weve all played; Us: We've beaten Wigan and Blackburn at home (our only two victories) got a point v Newcastle and Wolves and lost to west brom. Weve picked a couple of handy away points up but thrown at least four away (QPR, Sunderland). Apart from Citeh and Newcastle (agreed false position) we have not played ONE other team in the top 7 either home or away - thats 12 games against them to go! Stoke: Played Liverpool, arsenal, man u, chelsea and newcastle - and they are level on points. You get my point. Everton: Played one less game and also played already- Man u, Liverpool, Citeh and chelsea. On another thread I pointed out that we needed to get some serious points in the bag in the opening set of fixtures. I don't believe we have done that and we are now in danger of a bleak winter. Don't be fooled by our position in the table
  3. I have to admit that £20m for Downing was good business. I just feel that selling both him and young at the same time was a poor decision, especially when we spunked half of the Downing money on Nzogbia, who is nothing other than a bog standard player. What I cannot accept is that people think it is ok that we did this because Downing hasn't done anything at Liverpool yet. For the record, I do not care one little bit what liverpool are doing - they have money to p!ss away - we don't. What we now have is a side that is competing with the likes of Bolton, Fulham and Norwich for the places above relegation. Our club cannot compete anymore with the big clubs but we should expect to at least be holding our own with the likes of Stoke, Newcastle and Everton. Mr Lerner - You lost your nerve and cashed in on a very short term solution that Myself and thousands of other Villa fans will pay the price for for many years. Get rid of Mcleish NOW and give the job to Eriksson who might just save us the humiliation and financial catastrophe of relegation.
  4. How apt for me that this thread is top of the pile. I promised way back in August (when i got banned for questioning the Nzogbia signing) that I would be back in November to hold my hands up and admit he'd proved me wrong. I have to say, without any doubt whatsoever, that CNZ is actually worse than I ever thought! So to the likes of Julie B, and AVFCPride of Brum etc etc please can you give your thoughts on him for the first quarter of the season please?? Do you still think NZogbia is better than Downing or Young? Was it a great piece of business?? Does he currently have your vote for POTY? NOTE: moving to a 2/10 performance at the weekend from his usual 1/10 does not constitute a "good signing". We are in deep trouble so dont let the table fool you - I said we had an easy start and we needed to get off to a flyer, and whilst 12th sounds ok the fact is 16th place go above us with a win and we have one hell of a fixture list coming up. CNZ has got to be THE worst signing of the whole premier league. Discuss.
  5. Top top performance today and didnt deserve that OG.
  6. Its not his form - thats how good he is!
  7. Yet if you believe the board of our football club, it's all about figures. Which is the most staggering point of all this. Lerner must have his head in his hands that he let AM sign this waste of space Yet another example of inexplicable hate for a player, early in their Villa career. Waste of space? Was Rooney a waste of space player when he was playing like crap for half of last season? No. We all know there's quality, and we have to persevere with him until he finds his form. Comparing Wayne Rooney and CNZ would be criminal if it wasn't so funny! You obviously don't see the point. But I suspect that's intentional. My point is, when a player of known quality isn't playing well, (or in both cases, frankly like crap) you persevere with them until they get their form back. But of course, CNZ never had any quality to begin with as he's a waste of space amirite? Wayne Rooney is world class and even when he is playing poorly he is still as good as most premier league players. CNZ has displayed flashes of brilliance during his career but believes his own hype rather than looking to continuously improve himself. If you take a longer term view on him then he is distinctly average. It is a bit of a chicken and egg situation and I can only assume that AM picks his teams based on what he sees on the training ground. In a nutshell, we do not have room to carry anyone whilst they "find their form" - which fuelled my whole annoyance that we spent so much on one player who has a good game every now and then.

  9. What an absurd comment. There was barely a hint of disagreement when N'Zogbia was signed that he was not the best available option to us to replace one of Young or Downing. Few would have described him as being better than or equal to the players that departed, but he had a very good season last term and was as highly rated as any target within our reach was likely to be. I also believe that whether McLeish was manager or not, anyone else taking on the role would likely have pinpointed the player in the same circumstances. He has been poor so far, but there's no reason why he will not come good and there were far worse culprits last night. I wasn't referring specifically to last night. My views on the CNZ transfer are well known on here so I dont need to repeat. The comment is not absurd - It was in reference to the comment about the board talking a prudent numbers game and then sanctioning this deal. Lets be honest, AMC is not going to get another penny until CNZ pulls his finger out, if ever.

  11. Only time will show us the answer. What we have done is spent the best part of £10m on a £3m-£5m player. Damien Duff is as good as CNZ.
  12. Unfortunately no one can actually respond with their thoughts on that arguement as no one said N'Zogbia is Messi in waiting. Sorry to break it to you. Should play vs Bolton and if he doesn't raise his game, should be left out at the weekend. It was a tongue in cheek comment after the love-in I got hammered on when he was signing. Don't be so defensive because you got so excited about him! I'll bite my tongue again and support him until november as agreed.
  13. Utter tripe once again. I see QPR's decision of a decent fringe player off Citeh is doing ok in his first two matches. Perhaps those who said he was past it and that the zog was "Messi in waiting" would like to contribute on here??? Lerner hasn't learnt and let another two bob manager blow another load of cash on total garbage. We've got this idiot for 5 years on c.£60k/wk. It makes me want to cry!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Brilliant replace one out of form winger with another???? Ha ha Witheorwithoutyou is back to gloat!!!! LOL!!! I'm not gloating i'm still annoyed. I knew what would happen although part of my frustration was the fact it appeared AMC had blew our budget on CNZ alone. I'm actually hoping he'll pull his finger out as I am reserving judgement until november. Until then this place will continue to be full of disappointed people because of those who acted like we were getting Pele from Wigan!
  15. No feed him to the hounds BOF! I'm very shocked he's had one. Followed his rants daily before we signed him, and thought he would have had the zog burnt at the stake if he could. I nearly got myself banned out of frustration at what I saw as a huge step backwards for the club. It was a blunder of the highest magnitude but people were on here wanting to burn ME at the stake for not being so optimistic. I promised to reserve judgement until November and until then CNZ would get my full backing as a supporter of AVFC. Seems like many have turned on him already and I put that down to a massive dose of over expectation. He is a good player and will improve but he is not downing / young and he is certainly not worth £10m of anyones money.
  16. I am still of that opinion but the season has started so its time to get behind the team, whatever you think. Lets give him ten games before we praise or slate him
  17. Mr Irelands a puzzled young man. If he could recapture his form for city he'd be fantastic but I think he has many issues off the field. Shame
  18. I wouldn't agree with that. I think he is a decent player and about the right price. I do not think he is good enough to replace both Young and Downing but he is an able replacement for one of them for us at least. Well you are entitled to your opinion but I think he's shite. I hope I am proved wrong but I doubt it. You raise another point in who will replace the other?? I can give you the answer - probably some f***** has-been from rangers, that's who, or £10m for Seb Larsson. I give up!!!!
  19. N'Zogbia got his numbers with zero competition. He practically kept that team up with little attacking help. Even Rodallega had a crap season. Downing had Albrighton and Young getting pretty decent numbers alongside him. So Zog had a free run at the stats. Anyway, I don't want it to sound like I'm constantly picking fault with him. I think he's the perfect replacement for us. I think it is vital that we get him and I believe he will do well here. I just won't have any of the 'he's way better than Downing' stuff because for me he really isn't. Spot on. He's an average player in a shite team. Has the odd good game but goes missing in most. He is not fit to lace the boots of either Downing or Young. £10m down the pan. Once Mcleish wastes the rest of the money then I predict a November protest when we are in the bottom 3. Oblivion here we come.
  20. Let's all stop kidding ourselves - THis is a poor signing and a waste of money
  21. I watched him closely for the hour he was on and he looked poor IMO. We should give him time to settle and adjust to the pace of the English game but I don't have high hopes!
  22. Our attendances have been shite for some time yet some people still think we're a big club. Sunderland are taking a shafting on other threads over Bent but can easily outstrip us for a decent attendance.
  23. This. Lets rock the place! This game for me is all about the first goal (cliche i know). If City get it expect a pasting. If we get it then they will panic. Sing loud and proud from the first whistle!!!
