    My philosophy on players who have had a serious injury is basically to write them off. I dont mean that they'll never come good. I mean that anything more than nothing is a bonus. We have no idea if he'll be the same player, whether he fits in with Emery's plans, whether he will stay fit. There is so much murkiness to it. Obviously I hope he comes back better but banking on him to do anything or saying what he will do when he's back is at best, complete guesswork, at worst, total nonsense. We have no idea and wont any idea until he's back and fit. Whenever that will be.

    He actually doesnt. Ollie has him just beaten. Regardless, that just proves that stats mean nothing compared to the eye test. That Vellios for Everton had a similar great goals to minutes ratio for Everton a few years back when he was coming on for cameos at the end of games. It's deceptive when you're not playing 90 minutes each week. He can score great goals but his finishing is very poor. This isnt based just on tonight of course. Poor finishers arent prolific. He can improve of course but generally, you either have it or you dont.

    Has flaws and I don't think he will ever be a prolific goalscorer but he definitely has strengths and is useful.

    He's got loads of credit in the bank so we can forgive him and it wouldnt have changed the match result. But that was stupid, immature and now he's banned for key games. Very poor lapse in discipline John.

    Had a chance to go top with a home game against Sheff United. Bottled it and scraped a draw. Another big game, we could have had a statement win today and bottled it again. The red card didnt change anything, we had already lost the game. A spinless performance from every single one of them. Absolutely pathetic.
