Would he play on boxing day if Argentina got to the final? Usually youd have a couple of weeks break after a major tournament, especially playing all the way to the final.

Bloody hope so given how many goals we’ve conceded when Olsen has been between the sticks.

I don't see that Jack has baggage here at all. He'll be immediately embraced by the fanbase again and he'll relish being the star player like he did when he was here.

I don't think "he's not an Emery player" applies when he'd be clearly the best player in our team. I don't think Unai is incapable of managing personalities. At all.

If we can get him back here on some sort of affordable deal and he wants to come, we'd be insane not to take him.

Not by the whole fan base.

  3. Had a drunken conversation with him at The Reading Festival a couple of days after we beat Everton at VP.

I was drunk, he was sober by the way!

Seemed genuinely chuffed to be recognised and happily chatted about Villa whilst queuing for a beer.

Its their sisters I feel sorry for, they'll be tucked up in bed tonight and Gary over here will still be raging meaning they get no sleep

Don’t feel sorry for their sisters, they’ll be grateful for their 6 fingered brothers

You are painting a negative picture, for reasons that belong to you.....The Bolton game is a desperate attempt to do just that.....We won away from home, these teams are well up for it, its their cup final, how many scalps, do I have to mention for it to be valid.

We had the better of West Ham for 45 minutes, but we lost, you can't have if both ways, but fair play, you try.

What we say on here is hot air......Its the management, that will decide, if he goes or stays......but this constant carping at the blokes work, is tedious.

He is a rookie manager, and that means, he was brought in for the long haul, because in the long term they believe, the qualities he showed as a player, with shine through in management.....its nothing to do with his skill as a player, its do with him as a man, what drives him etc.

No one can be happy, with his record to date, with us, but its whether he can get there in time, I believe he will.

The irony for me is, we seem to find empathy for a young up and coming player and tolerate mistakes....but because SG has legendary status as a player, few fans on here, seem to be as generous, with a rookie manager.

I think some call it double standards.

Perhaps Thomas Tuchel, is what is needed an experienced head.

     Well said TRO.

Had good technical ability but just was never consistent enough. His personal sacrifice he made to make sure he was 100% for the Playoff final will never be forgotten. He will always have a place in the Villa history books. I wish him the best and maybe he can sneak into the world cup squad.

    This. Shouldn’t be underestimated.

No, you just want to say things that are convenient to the narrative, of getting rid.......Lets get rid of him.....but lets be fair also in the criticism, thats my call.

What players did SG sign on the wages you suggest, that we can't shift, which ones out of favour, was his doing, sure its a job, he has to deal with.....at least have the temerity, to address the criticism, where it belongs.

SG has signed no one, we are ready to move on.....we have a bloated squad, not down to him.

You are entitled to your view, but be fair, with it.

Totally agree TRO. This thread has been dominated by the same posters just shouting for him to be sacked. It’s tedious to say the least.

Carlos, Kamara, Bissouma, Bentacur, etc are players he " wanted " to be fair.

Not sure how we can be taking tabloid reports about stop gap signings as players he " wants ".

    Lol

It suits the anti Gerard agenda that keeps being spouted over and over again by the same posters.

Had a nice few hours out this afternoon, come back and people are frothing at the mouth because of a result not involving us! 🤣

I love this place, always makes me smile.

It's not a shambles at all provided it's not finished.

Signed one of the hottest prospects going on a free and strengthened defence but got dealt some bad luck there.

I agree, just seems this site is awash with serial bed wetters at the moment.

  11. Slightly off topic but a mate of mine was on the same table at a black tie event as Souness when he was the Toon manager. Apparently Souness spent the evening moaning about the huge amounts of money young players get, their social media activity even back then and how difficult it was to manage players that had agents and influencers whispering in their ears.

He came across as a bitter ex pro who was jealous of the money in the game. Another dinosaur that gets too much air time on tv and radio.

I'd prefer signing Conor Gallagher to play alongside Kamara, and a full season loan for Nat Phillips.

More midfield control and supply, and far less defensive set piece concessions.

I’d rather play Nat King Cole than Nat Phillips

What’s the point though? This thread has been an endless circle of negativity.

Ive supported Gerrard and quiet rightly I’m not happy with Saturdays performance and we need a big performance this weekend.

There’s not much point saying anymore, constantly finding things to be negative about helps nobody.

Nail on head, echoes my sentiments.

I think everybody at the ground needs to do this regardless of feelings towards SG.

Groans and boos won't make a tense situation any better, it can actually make it much, much worse.

The 12th man can build confidence and pull a performance out of them we know they are well capable of.

Even though Everton lost, they will have some confidence too as they actually weren't bad against Chelsea, we need to stamp that out asap.

I wouldn’t hold your breath, the muppets sitting in front of me on saturday were hurling abuse at the players after 5 minutes!

Meant nothing in the end though did it? And it was SG who f***ed up that result and game. He makes poor decisions, consistently.

Such an embarrassing capitulation in such a short span of time.

Can you elaborate on why you think Gerrard was to blame for that game?
And does he not get any credit for the first 70 minutes?

Generally I’d agree, but this was so bad from supposedly quality players against an awful Bournemouth team that I can see why fans quickly turned.  Look on VT for example, a lot of the Gerrard fans (me included) are now not pro-Gerrard anymore.

Even the commentators thought we were terrible, it wasn’t just biased and over-expectant Villa fans.

We were crap but there’s some that appear to want us to lose as it justifies their anti Gerrard argument. Today I heard that Coutinho is shite, Diego is shite, Kamara is shite, Buendia is shite, just get it forward etc.
