BOF Posted September 14, 2012 Moderator Share Posted September 14, 2012 I've asked this in the photography thread but I may aswell put it here too. 2 questions. Firstly, for around the €400 mark (£320), what would you recommend as the best all-rounder SLR camera for a media student? Secondly, if you were to buy a non-Canon lens (e.g. Sigma) for a Canon EOS 450d body or similar, would the lens be as fully-functional as a canon lens would be? If not, what kind of things would be compromised ?

Dodgyknees
I have two, one of those is out of that range and the other (which I just had a photo published in a Newspaper with) is the Nikon d3100. I bought two of them, one as a gift and used it at Bestival to great success (and because I didn't want to take my expensive Canon).
b23avfc
I was about to say Nikon d3100, i have on in my carry on bag for my trip to macedonia tomorrow. Best "entry level" dslr. And has been upgraded now too. I'd also say get a totally manual film camera and really learn how to use a camera. Best way

juanpabloingram
I am looking for a budget camera for my travels here in Australia, any recommendations between $100 - $200. Has anybody used a GoPro before?
