dudevillaisnice
Not good enough again, we are poor at defending set pieces even under new management.. yes Herd got sent off but Cuellar, Warnock, Dunne and Collins should be enough to defend a set piece (corner) surely. kurtsimonw
It really is poor. 4 goals in 2 games is just not good enough.

tonyh29
Isn't part of the problem that Given isn't actually good at crosses ? Great shot stopper , maybe even the best in the Prem but always rooted to his line on corners

Great shot stopper , maybe even the best in the Prem but always rooted to his line on corners A fair comment. I prefer my goalies to be out dominating the penalty box on crosses, where possible. After all they have the significant advantage of being able to use their hands to assist their defenders in clearing danger. I don't think it is any great secret this is not one of Given's strengths. Co-incidentally, I was just watching a repeat of the 4-3 Manchester derby game (where Owen won it in injury time) and Given was culpable for 2 of ManU's goals by being glued to his line when claimable balls came in. Top notch shot-stopper though !
