Anyway Andy, been meaning to ask you a few questions. Who's this Reece Caira fella? He's one of the crop of youth players (whose stats are entirely inaccurate btw) which don't include Jack Grealish (is he the missing one, or is he not on because he's too young?).

Btw Gabby and Ash are rubbish.

...wink.

What do you make of the tactics creator Troglodyte?

Just wondering because obviously you haven't stepped up from 08 to 09 to 10 but since it's come in, I think it's definitely one of the most useful and best features in the game in recent additions or even in a long while.

I'm not too keen on the set peice creator though, I think I'll just set it up as I usually do individually, seems that option would be quicker too.

It's a useful feature for setting a system up from scratch it seems, but effectively does everything that you can customise anyway. I did all my tactics etc before I realised it was there, so didn't really need to use it. Same goes for the set piece creator too really, but neither are bad additions.

For the record, Reece Caira is the young Australian (with English parents) we tried to sign a year or so back, he was given a ban by FIFA until he turned 18. I've taken a bit of a punt on him and assumed that once he turns 18 and his ban is lifted he will join the club, I believe this is accurate.

The missing youngster is Joshua Barton, this is because I couldn't tie down a DOB for him and for various reasons only 16 year olds are allowed to be in the game. He is in the database though and I'm now fairly sure he is at least 16. Jack Grealish, amongst others will not appear in game until he is 16 and is playing in the U18 side as the game does not cater for U16 squads and below.

There are a couple of other mistakes, both of them were stitch ups by Villa! Firstly, they re registered Clark, Weimann, Bannan and Lichaj with new squad numbers after I had submitted the squad number list, so naturally I didn't think I needed to check it a second time. The other one is Charlie Ward who I believed to be out with a serious knee injury, in fact I'm sure Tony McAndrew mentioned it on AVTV but it appears that the question he asked and the one that was answered were different! Either way, I should have picked that up when he was called up for the Victory Shield squad.

If anybody can get me the DOBs for Callum Robinson and Jordan Graham then they will win a biscuit of their choice, use of facebook is permitted. This is something that I can't really do because we are asked not to contact clubs and players.

I crashed out of europe on away goals but have won all three of my opening league games.

Stephen Ireland is very good behind the front man and Gabby has scored in every game so far.

Signed Moussa Sissoko and brought Fabio in on loan from Man United.

You've described my Villa game to a T lol

When the data was done I decided to keep ST as Berry's main position and give him a decent RB rating, swapping those 2 around will be one of the first changes. I believe Cameron has played a few games at left back, again he is primarily going to play higher up the pitch so that is another change that will come.

Daniel Johnson's being right footed is about my biggest annoyance!

Hold on, hold on you haven't told me what biscuit you would like and I'm sure as hell not going to the 24hr Tesco and then delivering by hand!

Also dubious about your Barrack Obama comment, I watched the kid in the Victory Shield last week and I have it Sky +'d so that I can watch it again (yes, that sad!) and I don't see a massive resemblance.

Not quite a perk! Why did you ask?

I'm a massive Fabian Delph fan, he has got something about him just the way he moves across the pitch and is able to wriggle out of situations with the ball. I just pray that he comes out of his injury the same player, he will be proper player and like a Rolls Royce in the middle of the park.

Nathan Delfouneso has absolutely bags of potential, but he is just coming to that dangerous time where he has got to walk the walk or he'll find himself scrapping around League One and wondering where it all went wrong. Incidentally, I've tried to replicate that in FM. I still have plenty of faith in him though, I just wish the door would open for him a little more often.

As for the rest of the older lads, I think Albrighton will get found out, this is already happening in games, his all action style can only get him so far and whilst I think he should find himself a Premier League player, I'm not of the opinion that he'll hit the heights that some people see for him. Bannan is too small, technically great but I just don't see him forcing his way into a top level team regularly. Clark I think will pull up a touch short, think Cahill but perhaps not quite as good, I've been watching him for years and he has been a tremendous leader of Men (well, boys!) through the years but I just don't quite think he'll have enough. Nathan Baker will be ruined by injuries and make a career as an aggressive centre half down the levels. James Collins is nothing like good enough but will find a level at somewhere around League Two, perhaps a touch higher and be a regular scorer who isn't capable of stepping up.

Below that of course Gary Gardner is the main man and provided he can come back and fit will be a Premier League midfielder, obviously so much rests on the next year of his career. I like Derrick Williams, definitely has a chance of making it, Carruthers is a very good player but I think he's struggling a bit to find the correct position, Daniel Johnson has been impressive this season looks a good player. Not seen much of Barton, Drennan or Burke but all of them and Burke in particular have had a good start.

Below the U18 level I don't know a great deal, I've heard nothing but good things about Jack Grealish but I am yet to see him play. Jordan Graham was the standout player for England U16 in the Victory Shield and appears to have some serious ability on the ball, but like most kids of his age his decisions are perhaps not the greatest. That said, he is as impressive a winger on the ball as I have seen at that level and that includes the likes of the much talked about Raheem Sterling. Callum Robinson has made the step up to U18 level and notched a couple of goals, not seen a great deal of him but it is great to see a young lad step up and take his opportunity.

Friend sent me a text asking if I know the Villa researcher, something about the data for his team (Saints)

What a brilliant write up, I don't get to see as much of the youth so really appreciate that. Thank you. The one player I really am excited about is Delph, hope the injury doesn't ruin him, think he could be a top class player.

Brilliant write up though, appreciate that :)
