Richard Iwish they would go away because I know how Lerner hates this unnecessary publicity and I don't want anything to go wrong.. Comprendo??

He will also be aware that if he is the prefered bid, if he is who Ellis wants and he is who the fans want, that there will not be a problem.

If Rothchilds contact Ellis and say we are recomending the AV06 bid as they have matched or bettered what Lerner has put on the table in respect of running the club and future finace etc and he'll also pay another 8 million does anyone honestly think Lerners will still be Ellis's preferred bid?

If the AV06 bid is the better overall package it will be accepted, simple as that so why people are worrying is beyond me.

HMMM.... tell that to the trust Richard. We must send out a united message to Randy that its him that we want. Consortia are complicated beasts at the best of times. His bid, his persona etc is by far the best fit and credit to Ellis he has recognised that even with Neville and Padfield offering him potentially much more money for himself and his family.

trust me, the Lerner camp are aware of certain things ....

Just who have they been speaking to ?

With all due respect, the trust are a very minor voice. Their influence is limited at best.

The key players in this are the major shreholders. They have the power to accept and recommend a bid or not.

Now refering back to your original premise that Lerner is the one that ellis wants to deal with, always has been, then why should we be at all worried about this AV06 interest. It will not affect Randy at all. As to publicity, you are having a laugh surely? He must realise the publicity he's going to get.

I think Mark its clear AV06 have substantial finance backing but thats not the be all and end all is it. lerner appears to be the best fit from the fact that he is experienced in owning sports enetrprises, to the fact that he is our football manager's prefered choice, to the fact that he is an individual not a consortia which are much harder to manage and all keep happy.. Different agenda's etc

AV06 may in the short term be prepared to pay more for the club and even initially supply a bigger transfer budget but Villa's long term future in my mind is in better hands with Lerner.

Lerner's company has received irrevocable undertakings to accept the offer in respect of 6,508,423 Aston Villa Shares, representing approximately 56.85 per cent of the existing issued share capital.

But the Mail understands that those "irrevocable undertakings" will be null and void if a bid of five per cent or above Lerner's offer is received for the total shares.

A spokesman for AV06 said they aim to "blow Lerner away".

He added: "Our aim is to strengthen the team and to utilise the club's many assets wherever possible.

"We have money for transfers, up to £30million in the August window if we can get the deal done quickly enough and we are confident we can.

"But we are more than prepared to step aside if Mr Lerner can match our £30million transfer budget inside the next 17 days."

The AV06 spokesman added: "We are certainly not looking to spoil their deal just for the sake of it but we have concerns about their immediate intentions.

"We are solely interested in strengthening the team and two players now could make all the difference. As regards Lerner, so many questions remain unanswered."

AV06 are still highly sceptical of Lerner's motives, believing his group have held detailed discussions to merge Villa with either Blues or Albion which would enable him to build a casino.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned in this thread, but if the above is true and the bid is better then surely the board will accept the better bid?

....maybe not for you Ian, but I am sure Doug would have a different take, has he not refused bids in the past becasue they were nowhere near his asking price?

For Doug, if it matched his valuation, then the conversations about direction could start.

In no way does that article lead me to believe that AV06's bid is better.

Weren't you on here a while back bigging up Neville and actually saying that Lerner is not the hero we thought he was and had been laughed out of Italy and Spain and wanted us to merge with sha?

If AV06 come in and bid big for Villa then Lerner will walk away imo. A bidding war serves no purpose except to make two old men even richer. Any money over £62.2m spent acquiring Villa is money diverted from strengthening the squad and improving facilities and therefore wasted. Doug would not even be to blame here as he is obligated to get the best possible deal for the shareholders.

Doesn't this quote negate the wwhole article, complete crap ...

If that is AV06's pitch then it is laughable !!!!

I just think Richard its an unnecessary distraction that we could do without and may well slow everything up. Having said that I have always mantained Lerner would win and ultimately I am sure he still will. My one fear is that Doug or Petchey have their heads turned by a bid of say £70 million. I do not think Lerner would want to get involved in an auction. As long as Doug is good to his word and is happy with his £21 million and Petchey does likewise then we will be fine

Ian I never said it was about money. One of the stipulations of any bid seems to have been that Rothchilds would only recommend bids that showed that the clubs future would be in good hands and that their were plans in place to show this.

Therefore if Rothchilds recommend the AV06 bid as it as matched or bettered Lerners plans for the club and they are also willing to pay 8 mill more I can't honestly see why Ellis would not accept.

As for AV06 people hiding Rotchchilds will obviously know who they are before recommending any bid and so will we if the bid is accepted.

As has been said before this is a win/win situation as the only way AV06 can prevail in all this if there bid is the better overall package than the fantastic package already on the table.
