USA pre paid sim cards - advice needed

Apologies if already posted but I need some help. I am O2/virgin android pay monthly punter who is visiting manhattan in Sept. I am looking at pre paid nano sim cards to use when there but questions are :

1. Can I use AT&T/T-Mobile/Lycara etc sim in my virgin handset ?

2.Is it better to buy before I travel, activate it here ready for use when I land ?

3. Or should I buy from walmart/target etc once I get there ?

4. What have been the most hassle free methods experienced by other VTers, especially a technophobe, plug and play bloke like me ?

TIA.

I presume you don't have a phone that can use a Virtual SIM?

If so, you can download Airalo (have a referral code if anyone wants) or other similar apps and just pay for a virtual local SIM for however many days and data you want.

Just checked my phone and yes it supports e sim.

Airalo app looks designed for idiots like me so will check it out soon, thanks

Also check out holafly as they were excellent on my Samsung S22.

E-Sim worked brilliantly in Manhattan in December and was very reasonably priced.

The best method I found was to but a 3 payg sim over here, top it up according to your expected data use. The only downside is that calls internally in the US arent part of the allowance.
