  1. ..and I base this on.. absolutely nothing. Think you need another edit there. If only your knowledge of the man was as good as your syntax eh!
  2. Although I would be somewhat contented by this appointment, I do find it amusing how some people are claiming 'we need a man for 3-5 years' when if, let's say, we do exceptionally well and overachieve, this guy will be off faster than you can bat an eye lid. There's only one club that this guy holds in his heart, and here's a hint, it ain't Molde FK. If that means 1 or 2 years of relative success for us then i'd take it. It's a big gamble though.
  3. there is land beyond the outlying seas of our island? Crikey, looks like we're moving into the 2nd millennium, bit hasty if you ask me!
  4. 8m sounds like the budget of a championship club pushing for promotion these days, or at a stretch, the budget upon promotion.
  5. At this point we should be hoping Liverpool go after a much higher caliber manager so we can pursue our choice.
  6. He'd be a mug to go there, look at the way they treated Roy. All because they thought the job was too big for him. They'd think the same aboyt Lambert. And if he replaced the moron that is their king Dalglish, he will be hounded out ASAP. In fairness, Hodgson is hopeless. in fairness, his records at Albion and Fluham says differently really, and compared to Dalglish he did okay at Klanfield. Albion and Fulham says it all, he is a small team manager capable of organising average players. Perfect for England... But seriously, I think he will be hounded out, hopeless. Sorry for the OT! You're so devoid of any sense or reason I can't find the words to describe.
  7. So the range this year has been set, from AVB to Gary Megson. Last year we ended up with the bottom, or rather, the unthinkable. I guess big Mick might fall into the latter category.
  8. Sammer???!!?? To claim you are the worst in that dortmund team is not putting yourself down.
  9. Yea but eventually we'll need some signings of higher calibre if we want to push for promotion back into PL.
  10. Desperately sad yet infuriating. OK, I don't understand what it means ? It means he thinks we have the worst squad in the PL and that he put in a remarkable shift to bless us with the current league position and to avoid the drop, and then somehow gotten his sponsor SAF to attest to his delusions.
  11. I don't think the match reaction threads are anything to go by, I don't even look at those.
  12. AVB is slightly more likely than the Ancelotti fiasco, as he does not require a massive wage package nor, as some people seem to believe, a large transfer budget (30m+). It'd be a fantastic move since every spastic around thinks he's this monumental failure. Just to put the naysayers in their place and their AVB WILL NEVER COME HE DEMANDS CL FOOTBALL AND 8 MIL PER YEAR (you really have no clue the type of manager he is), I definitely think the guy is after a job that will give him security and longevity rather than another high pressure one season to prove himself, I highly doubt it will be with us though, unfortunately.
  13. Brighton are a club on the up with a large catchment area and a stadium that will soon be holding 30k each and every week. Poyet is under very little pressure there yet in championship terms, has quite abit of money to splash. Finishing from 1st to 21st he will be well supported regardless with few on his back, he has the time, space and the backing to instill his approach at that club and if the man is smart, which I think he is, he will not even consider a move this early in his managerial career to go from a position of comfort to a mountainous stretch that is the appeal of the Villa job currently. Of course if we had money to spend, an owner that was interested and in sync with the affairs of the club and a squad that wasn't rife with, forgive my terminology, a bunch of clearings in the woods then i'm sure he, and others like him and better, could be swayed.
  14. My fellow, it is about perspective. When comparing fan-base, resources, facilities and wage/transfer budgets it appears Plucky Little Wigan (PLW) are one of the smallest teams in the top two tiers of English football. Without the 'surprise' element and high morale of a newly promoted team and his star players cherry picked each year he has ensured PLW's survival in the top division for 3 years with effective entertaining football. Proving himself tactically adaptive, intelligent and to have high quality man-management. It is the Gentleman's understanding that he has an extremely high work and moral ethic, indeed he was criticised when first arrived at PLW that he was concentrating on the structure of the reserve/youth teams too much. The man is a meticulous being. He will not incorporate a player until he grasped the apprehension and understanding of his team-mates and tactics. He is calm, self assured, young and has high amounts of potential. What this club needs now is an enema, and in the Gentleman's opinion, with Mcleish being persona non grata, the man most adept at holding that pipe would be Señor Martinez. Excuse the crass analogy. So in essence, what you're asking is for us to imagine what the guy could do if backed financially? I've had the misfortune of having watched in the region of 30 wigan games this season due to the hazards of my occupation. Some of the performances early season were beyond even villa for lackluster. Not saying I wouldn't prefer him to what we have, i'd take Paul Buckle over what we have, but i'm just not sure about Martinez, he's a big question mark for me.
  15. Can't believe that some people are trying to get their heads around the prospect of another year of this atrocious **** calling the shots, or not calling them as the case may be. If he isn't sacked it shows one of two things, that RL & co are stubborn as well as clueless, or that everything is going according to plan with the new 'Premier League survival' club mindset. Neither is acceptable by a long stretch.
  16. I had the same argument with a collegue , Carroll would have gone for far less if Liverpool hadn't sold Torres for £50 mil.I do think they over paid for Henderson and Downing as well but all 3 came at a premuim for being English. All 3 of them are also shite.
  17. Are the excuses and anecdotes already being formulated into positive spin on the season to come with McLeish at the helm? Surely not this early, you can delude yourselves closer to August if the **** is still around.
  18. It's almost comical yes, it's like admitting to the mistake of appointment by saying 'ok so maybe mcleish is inept, but now we're bringing in someone above him who knows what's what!' It's his inability to manage on the pitch and astounding lack of knowledge for what to do and when regarding subs&tactics, how is a DoF going to hep with that...
  19. I found it staggering that some fans were prepared to set aside Eck's dismal record and give him a chance here to begin with. To set aside that now in addition to the reality of putting us in a relegation tussle that very nearly resulted in disaster, is asking for a full on miracle. He has to go, or those attendances are going to get increasingly depressing which is damaging our club in itself.
