  1. Far too many people who are just prepared to let things slide, as per usual. Everybody around me seemed to be confident in the fact that he would be gone regardless of our final two results. I tried telling them that he could still escape the boot if a noise wasn't made and discontent expressed. **** it really, another morbid season ahead if this buffoon remans, mark my words, probably out by Christmas where the managerial shelves will be empty across the world (not that we ever look past domestic managers mind)
  2. Make us think they're after a few drab names like Bruce, Curbs and McClaren and suddenly we'll all be behind big eck. Good ploy.
  3. Won't just be Eck's head that fans are after if he doesn't sack him. I don't see any other way round it. He can get away with an atrocious managerial appointment if he humbles up and does what's needed to be done, he won't get away with stubbornly standing behind him.
  4. Italians have been winning World Cups and European Cups doing that for a few decades now, only difference is they had players that can.. you know, move the ball quickly when they do win possession. Our version of a counter involves a measured pass or two, and by measured I mean **** slow, before dribbling toward our goal rather than theirs, eventually resulting in a punt up to heskey.
  5. I suppose it stands to reason that because labeling them as fickle and 'whiney' is no longer a credible option, given that they were right in their assessments, that we need to re-label them as something else. Either way we are the better fans right? For sticking with the boys and giving big eck a chance! Quite frankly the appointment of McLeish will go down as one of the blunders of the PL since it's inception, it was an absolutely atrocious appointment that could only go one way. Everyone besides us were having a good laugh about it at the start of the season, and their sides are aching now at the end of it. The negative way media outlets portray villa fans, which is quite frankly a load of shit, hasn't helped since most feel like they can't even express their true opinions anymore for fear of the fickle brand. You need only use the McClaren fiasco as an example, fans vilified for thinking he wasn't good enough for us, yet we all know what a fantastic job he did at Forest subsequently, spending a few million, putting 7 points on the board then **** off back to Twente blaming the failure of a loan deal. I saw it coming, i'm not chuffed or contented by this fact. I was angry then because of the appointment itself, exacerbated by those that were prepared to give this buffoon a chance, and i'm angry now because what I thought would happen has happened. That is the only emotion I feel.
  6. Careful now, we wouldn't want to infringe upon our PREMIER LEAGUE EXPERIENCE stipulation, it's worked so well for us in the past... Perhaps his playing career will help him out, although I don't especially think he's a decent manager, or would fit. Better than what we have, naturally, but then again I could probably fish out a few managers from Blue Square North that would have done a better job of 'keeping us up' this season if that was the main focus.
  7. I disagree with this. City have been presented with these 'must win' games time and time again and they always buckle under it. It's only when Mancini started telling the press it was over that his team started to perform again under very little pressure. In short, I think City are much more likely to put 5 past QPR with nothing to play for, than they are if it's the title decider where they will be nervy and you never know what might happen. Either way I just hope that it's a game that is nigh on impossible for QPR to snatch a point.
  8. Indeed indeed, we should hope for another heysel and get our clubs banned for another 5 years stunting our development for a decade thereafter until we get rid of the rot at VP! Some people bewilder me, of the same ilk to those that boo the national team undoubtedly. I just hope that should we survive, which is looking a tad more likely after today, that eck isn't credited with a great escape. You just know certain media outlets will try to pull that one off.
  9. odds on us not scoring a goal for the rest of the season and staying up?
  10. And you weren't on Tuesday??? Disgraceful. 3 actually, and Bayern have equal, if not worse suspensions. If results go our way tomorrow I will breathe a little easier.
  11. chelseas remaining games are all must wins for them if they want to be guaranteed champions league football next year There's only one must win game for them to secure CL football and that's the final itself, and they have a very real chance of winning it. They'll be focusing on that.
  12. I hope this is a harsh lesson to those (you know who you are) pseudo-omniscients pontificating condescendingly to villa fans with genuine concerns, protesting against the abysmal decision to appoint this equally abysmal manager last year. 'EES A NOICE GUY' and 'SUPPORT THE VILLA AND THE ECK NO MATTER WHAT' were thrown around in volume and any talk of relegation were attributed to knee-jerk hyperbole from the stereotypical 'fickle' fans that were/are giving you all a bad name. Well look at us now. Any man/woman/child with a grain of sensibility knew where this club was heading with this man in charge, he wasn't going to change his approach or lack thereof just because he inexplicably got the opportunity to manage a club better than any previous. We knew the anti-football was coming, we knew we would hold the title for draws over the season, the only question on our mind's was a simple one; will we draw enough games, and win enough odd games undeservedly to stay up? The answer to this question is still up in the air, I would say we still have a greater chance of staying up than going down, although very slight, but it no longer depends just on us, which is a scary thought indeed. I just pray for the sake of villa, and my sanity, that in either scenario we don't get any more clowns on here, or interviewed by the media that attest to big Eck's ability to manage our once great football club, and want to give him another bite at the apple.
  13. This poll is rigged since one of the two is the current manager and our fans lack of perspective and abundance of bias will naturally result in aforementioned being favoured. Neither played good football, results wise too early to tell. I would say Houllier, though Young and Downing would still have departed I have a feeling the summer would have been a tad more interesting with him at the helm (that's interesting in a good way, not the we're going to appoint your rivals manager who just got them relegated kind of interesting). He also signed Bent, who ranks up there as one of the best acquisitions in the 25 years i've been following the club. Like someone said before, at least Houllier looked forward, pretty sure what we're seeing right now is the finished article with Eck and the latest signings are indicative of that approach.
  14. If they repeat Barry Fry on ssn one more time i swear to god...
  15. Set a venue for the evening's events?
  16. 2 million compensation to get a manager that just got a side relegated? 3 year deal? Inexplicable. Exasperated.
  17. The worst part about all this is that I actually like McLeish, I always have. The fact he was manager over there meant absolutely nothing to me, I had a fondness for his mild-mannered and humble nature along with his honesty. I will honestly feel sorry for the guy for what is in store for him. The reason there is an uproar has nothing to do with his origins, people, including myself, feel he is not good enough to manage our club for too many reasons to list without sounding repetitive. This is testament to how poorly our board are carrying out their jobs and they should be accountable for this mess, not McLeish. The board have: - Failed to pursue managers outside of having had prior experience in the Premier League. A restriction that is as stupid as it is restrictive, in place for what I can only assume is a risk assessment because of having absolutely **** all knowledge of World Football. - Failed to pull any manager of any pedigree even for an interview (it's largely believed that McLeish was the first and last) - Contradicted themseles on the reasoning of not pursuing Hughes and McLaren, both of which any fan would take over McLeish. - Angered fans and alienated them further - Posted derogatory statements trying reinforce that they know best and we should just accept it and move along. THESE PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW FOOTBALL. If there is one underlying thing to come out of this mess it's this, our board don't have a clue, literally.
  18. No idea but i'm willing to donate 2 grand here and now if it isn't.
  19. Wrong thread, copy paste it in there.
  20. Faulkner has probably heard of him from Desperado, Banderos's evil brother wasn't he?
  21. Alot of people are changing their minds because the reality of this shocker is setting in. Time to bring out the self-delusions that he is not such a bad manager after all, and he got Hibs playing like Barcelona! Do me a favour would you, yea i'm sure Randy will bring him in his offce and say 'Hey Alex, we've had some complaints at the atrocious football you install, d'ya think you could make em play a little more attacking... you know.. change your entire approach as a manager etc etc.' Speechless at the drivel here, don't give up just yet and start thinking this guy is the best we can get.
  22. Discussing AM's proverbials or position on the 'nice chap' scale aren't really relevant though are they, I don't know about you but I prefer to judge a manager on his approach on the pitch and football mentality/philosophy, throw in some nice credentials too and a history of bringing in good players and using youngsters effectively. AM does not check any of those boxes unless you start counting competiitions that aren't very competitive in a universal context. Yet he seems to fill out beloved owner's boxes quite magnificently: Premier League Experience: **** it he got relegated twice in 3 years but whatever CHECK Nice chap: CHECK Works hard: CHECK Sign here please. It's inexplicable. It's like we're recruiting for checkouts at a supermarket, must have checkout experience! This is foregoing that we'll most likely have to PAY MILLIONS to get this guy. I'm dumbfounded.
