  1. Pretty nice derogatory post there. The fact that Roy Evans is the only name you've dug out there in the last 40 years speaks volumes. What exactly did he achieve again? Taking an underachieving side back to 'almost' where they wanted to be? Sounds familiar. 15 years of reserve team experience does not constitute the experience required to guide this club forward, whether you'd like to think so or not.
  2. I studied the effects of stress at university, and actually met basset during my project. So forgive me if I find your supposition pretty hysterical. I envy you and you're justifiable approach to the time he spent pondering whether taking villa forward was the job for him, unfortunately I and many other people are not particularly inspired by the belated decision.
  3. Yes because everything is that simple. Forget the whole think before you act, it's irrelevant. :notsure: You don't just take the managerial job because it's Aston Villa ffs. That's exactly why you take the job. What did he have decide over the course of 3 weeks? Whether he liked the conditions.. if only all managers got a trial period eh. Whether he likes the limelight and the impact on his life and so forth? Please, if these things are even considered it displays he isn't the man for it. The only real thing he would have had to think about, is if taking it would mean he'll be out of a job completely if things go south which they undoubtedly will. It seems as though he's gambled his welfare on an opportunity he probably won't get again though. Sound like someone you want in charge?
  4. Yea because DoF's have a great history. If he gets the the job now it is a woeful decision. The rest of the country is laughing at the man when he says in a coy manner it's 'too soon' to decide whether he wants the job after the everton game. Coups of war have been strategised in less time than this man has had. After zero activity in the transfer market, our ex-manager walking out, a couple of dismal displays on the pitch and the release of the latest club statement and we appoint a manager without an iota of top level managerial experience. It's soul-destroying stuff.
  5. Install a caretaker manager who has taken 3 weeks to decide whether he wants the job or not. Yea really inspiring stuff, with the greatest respect thanks but no thanks.
  6. The man is clearly hungry for success in the premiership so who knows. He will never be the apoplectic dugout type though.
  7. When you mention Sven people just think of his recent shortcomings and bad press and imagine him walking out of villa park with a stainless steel suitcase chained to his wrist. They forget he was one of the most sought after and prestigious managers before the England job (which despite popular belief he did a pretty good job with considering). The man has vast expierence, beyond that of any manager we have had in my lifetime at least. If you rule out the impossibles like jol, hiddink and hitzfeld then you reach sven who i'd quite happily take at this moment in time.
  8. Thankyou for the responses General. May I ask if we can get some continuity about the Premier League experience attribute in the search for our new manager. Whilst you have stated that it helps but is by no means a requisite, this is contrary to what has been said by Paul Faulker in the latest club statement regarding it as crucial. As some have stated before me, the greatest managers of the last 25 years have been brought in from outside our league having success in other leagues around Britain and Europe. I'm not saying that this should be consistent with our aspirations, but I would think it perhaps a little restrictive to not span abit further than those who have already managed successfully or unsucessfully in the Premier League, because let's be honest the list is very thin. If you look through our beloved club's history you will see we have always gone with British managers of a certain ilk, some more renowned than others. Maybe it is finally time to break the mould and to bring in someone of different origin who can give us some more reach and pull in the transfer market. So my other question goes; are candidates considered having expressed a public interest in managing the club such as Ronald Koeman?
  9. Thankyou for the responses General. Would I be right in assuming by your words that you are looking for someone with Premier League experience, or were you using 'league' as a loose term? I've no doubt you're looking beyond these shores aswell but just wanted to be clear, since managers with PL experience is narrowing any appointment down pretty thinly.
  10. Perhaps you misunderstood. Yes he does interviews and press conferences (more than every other manager fyi) which he is obliged to do. He also does those which are not obligatory and I think he was doing punditry/analysis on 6 different channels and sites during the WC and seems like I see the man on mundial every week. Point being, he likes the limelight. Should have used another example because it wasn't doing much for your case -.-
  11. Most managers don't like the limelight but they have to do it. Do you really think people like Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger would do interviews just because they like to be seen? You really are a over dramatic. You say he doesn't want the job yet he says, he'd only take it if it's what he wanted to do. :? So clearly by taking the job, it's what he wants to do. Wenger does all kinds of press and i'll think you'll find more like the lime light than those who don't. KM hasn't exactly inspired me in the interviews he's done, he looks like a man torn and with that in mind there should be only one option for him. I can't honestly see why we should be expected to wait for the man to mull it over in his head nor can I see reason for giving him however many games to 'try him out' because let's be honest, any amount of games isn't enough unless given the season.
  12. Bring sammer, kohler and moller out of retirement and dust off the sweeper formation. Jokes aside i'd like him, he'd make us a monster of a team to break down at the very least. Wouldn't exactly inspire with the football on display but then again I haven't been inspired at VP for almost a decade! Doubtful though.
  13. There was equally as much hope and speculation after little left, boy were we disappointed. Can't help but think this one's going the same way. Then again, we have Lerner now instead of Ellis and let's hope the man realises how important it is to put someone in place with knowledge of the game beyond our shores, someone who can grow into the role but also experienced. No temporary solutions, and if it takes weeks or months to appoint the right man then so be it. Here's to hoping.
