  1. Was up at Bodymoor Heath earlier and something odd seemed to be going on. If you've been and waited for the players leave you'll understand

As they came out through the gate (after they'd signed a few autographs) a few of the players (Given, Benteke and N'Zogbia) drove onto the public car park instead of out the gate where they met a portly looking bloke who then got in the back of their cars for about ten minutes each. Delph also drove on but didn't hang around and turned round and left fairly quick

Once this was done they left as normal, except Given who left then came back

    Anyone seen that before ?

The few of us there were speculating what they were up to but couldn't come up with a good reason. The best I could muster was perhaps he was one of those professional autograph type blokes and maybe they take a back hander to sign a ton of 10x8's or something

He didn't look a flash bloke or anything exciting, but it passed the time wondering what he was up to if nothing else

All the players were in good form today though. All stopping and doing their bit to keep the kids happy

    UTV

  2. Doesn't look up to pace yet. I said to my mate at the game yesterday that he looked like he was on a leash and afraid to break off it

There were some great positives yesterday, the defence and at times the midfield. But the attacking three were basically pants

  3. Keeping Vlaar should be the priority

If we let him go that leaves us with a desperate 2 weeks trying to find a replacement and every club will know we have money from the deal and will take us to the cleaners because were desperate

You say that, but if the club know he could leave they will have been sounding out a replacement already

  4. If Ron's having second thoughts about staying then the sooner he comes out and tells the club the better (obviously)

The least he can do is be honest and upfront and then we can move on to sorting a replacement

  5.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of loan deals go through at the last minute.  Clubs like Utd, Spurs, Arsenal etc have clearly decided who is surplus to this season's requirements and will probably spend the next few weeks compiling offers from various clubs.

Henandez and Gnabry would be ideal, but there'll be a of teams sniffing and putting in silly bids towards the end as they get desperate.

I would jizz my pants if we signed Hernandez and Gnabry, still think we need a better AM, one that will chip in with goals, unless we prepare to give Gardner a go

    Just imagine

    ---------------Guzan

    Hutton - Vlaar - Okore - Cissokho

    --------Sanchez - Delph

    Gnabry------J Cole --------N' Zogbia

    ---------------Hernandez

Switch to 3-5-2, with Hernandez and Tekkers, awesome partnership.....aaaand then I woke up

Cole wont be a starter surely, his legs aren't up to it. In fact i'd be amazed if he's still here come the end of January window full stop

  6.

Top 4, FA Cup and League Cup

In other words, he's lost me forever. Still hoping someone buys us and replaces him before Christmas

Hard to think of a Villa manager i've disliked more (as a manager, not as a person)

Not even McLeish with his post match "That's not a McLeish team" and his (TBH consistent) blaming of the team when it goes wrong and showing himself in glory when it goes well?

Nah, i quite liked McLeish as a bloke if not manager. So that puts him slightly above Lambert

I always found McLeish less of a moaner too

  7.

Sanchez and Sinclair/Moses will be our last two signings this window imo

Sinclair's moaning about not being guaranteed first team football and wants a move apparently.

no chance i'd guarantee him first team football every week given his track record. he can come and sit on the bench and try and prove himself by all means

  8. I'd try if I put on the shirt, i'd still be **** useless mind

I'd persevere with Lowton, or even send him out on half a season loan to get his confidence back up

I still think he'll probably make a better midfielder than defender long term though. A bit like Barry

  9. Guzan

    Hutton Okore Vlaar Cissokho

    Bacuna Westwood Delph Richardson

    Cole

    Benteke

    Not bad IMO.

But missing the one bright spark during pre season. N'Zogbia

Swap him for Cole and maybe. but god knows what we'll do until Benteke comes back. I can't see any of the current fit strikers scoring at all

  10. Never looked up to it. If he can make it via dropping down the leagues and bouncing back up then good luck to the lad

He wont be the last of our lot that'll have to follow that route. Character building

  11. Anyone that didn't consider last season as absolutely woeful obviously wasn't watching the same shower of shit as me week after week

Things will come to a head within a month this season. The majority don't like Lambert already, every poll last season showed he'd lost the supporters. A couple of bad defeats early on and it'll kick off big style

And that'll be on Randy's head because the useless clearing in the woods should've been sacked last Christmas

Jesus, you seem so pissed off. Like seriously its a friendly.

So what your doing is questioning an 18 year olds performance who come off the bench and got himself a goal despite being the youngest on the pitch...Wow.

Go kick a ball around or something and come back with a clear head.

Good grief, talk about an over reaction, were you on the beer last night or something ?

All I said, was I thought he had an average game against Chesterfield LIKE EVERYONE ELSE ... WOW!

I gather you're related to Jack somehow, well if you found that too critical you're going to need a much thicker skin if (as we all hope) the lad progresses to playing weekly

To be fair to Kevan I don't think that's an overreaction at all, it was a good humoured post and he makes a good point that the lad is 18, came off the bench and scored. I didn't see the game but a lot of people weren't using average to describe his performance.

And ANYBODY that watches a game has the right to call it as they see it. No problem with that at all

And if he'd been slagged off then fair enough i'd expect a family member to stick up for him (i do myself when my relative plays) but he wasn't/hasn't been. Hence i didn't see the need to say i seemed pissed off. Pissed off with what?

It was a friendly that warranted nothing more than sharing views on the performance with fellow supporters

  13. Can't believe he's still here. Yet I fully expect him and Randy to still be here this time next summer too after another piss poor campaign

If it wasn't so tragic it'd be amusing

I even laughed when Talksport did there 'three to struggle' feature this morning when Bob Mills said we'd signed three great players but all 8 years too late ... Ha

  15.

VERY poor last night, but in good company with Johnson and Gardner also doing nothing at all

Completely disagree, he wasn't amazing but very poor? Absolutely not.

    we'll have to disagree then

  16. I have to be honest, having watched the game last night on AVTV I thought Grealish did very little to show he's the second coming some see to suggest

N'Zogbia was about the only bright spot i took from the game, and even he only shone for about 25 minutes

A lost of em need to go out on loan at a decent level Championship club to see if they can cut it. Gardner, Johnson and especially Carruthers really failed to show anything at all

Hope Walsall next Tuesday is a better showing from all concerned
