  1. There is no way more than one club is going to break into the top 4 over the next 2-3 years. Therefore realistically you have us, Spurs, Everton, Man City and Newcastle with the financial clout and fan base to give it a go. It will then come down to the respective managers to spend the money they have wisely and be able to attract the players of the quality needed to break into the top 4. Have we got the best manager for this in comparision to the other clubs who will also be aiming for the same goal?
  2. Positive. I have had a few downs in my life but always look to the future with optimism.
  3. Its great that people are posting messages of support on this thread for what is going on at VP but I'm sure the people that matter can already see that the vast majority of supporters are right behind them and believe in what they are doing when they look at the increased attendances, shirt sales and the positive atmosphere around VP on matchdays.
  4. General I think the fact that thousands of people chant Mons name at every game, home and away, will back up the fact that most fans trust Mon and are right behind him. It is a privelage to have him, Randy, yourself and all the other people behind the scenes at the club who are breeaking there balls to to put this great club back where it belongs.
  5. Fuse not answering for the General here but regarding the work permit issue Sven Goran Erikson was interviewed earlier saying he went down to London yesterday to secure a work permit for the anticipated signing of Benjani so I don't think this is done exclusively by Mon and appears to happen at other clubs.
  6. General now we know exactly where we stand in terms of playing personel between now and the end of the season could you please pass on my best wishes, and I'm sure those of many Aston Villa fans, to Mon and the squad for the rest of the season and let them know that we are behind them in the final 14 games of what has already been a season of progress and one that could ultimately end with european qualifiction which would be a remarkable achievement given the state the club was in just 18 months ago.
  7. Your fault i'm afraid especially as you had a petrol warning light blinking at you. I can remember breaking down on an island in town about 15 years ago ( Paradise circus I think it was ). It was about 4.30pm so I caused chaos with the traffic and I got some lovely comments as I strolled back to my car, petrol can in hand then had to stand there putting the petrol in getting some right dirty looks.
  8. Mon has addressed the press regarding this issue hasn't he? I have seen a number of quotes from him when asked about incoming transfers and he has stated that the club are doing there best to bring players in.
  9. What are these marks based on Nick? Just the transfer window?
  10. Nice move General given some of the over the top panic that is building up on this site and is likely to erupt over the next 3 days.
  11. I can wait for another 9 days for a couple of players to arrive and I hope to god we continue to be lucky for the rest of the season, if that indeed what has taken us to 6th in the league.
  12. I voted for 2 before and I didn't expect any signings before now so nothing has changed for me.
  13. General, if Gary Cahill and/or Mon have decided hes future is no longer with AVFC could you please reasure me that our 4th/5th choice centre back goes to the highest bidder regardless of who that may be.
  14. General, Another nice gesture with the 2000 tickets at £10 for Birmingham City Council workers. On top of all the other ticket offers this last 18 months I am sure 99.9% of fans are very appreciative.
  15. Hope you and your family have a fantastic Christmas General. Thank you for the time and effort you put into posting on this site. It is very much appreciated. Heres to continued progression in 2008.
  16. Great pic Nick. Looks like a real belter.
  17. Good work Al. I particulary liked the part on why we should beat them. Spot on. I can think of one poster who may not agree with your assessment though.
  18. Apart from those that I talk to that go to the games that is. Yes its strange that one isn't it. I've been to every home home game and a couple of away games and I've yet to hear anyone say that they are downbeat about Mons signings.
  19. I'm with the Rev on this. I couldn't stand Mayweather before the fight and thought he was an arrogant prick. Then straight after the fight he went up to Hatton and had Hattons head in hes hands and seem to be genuinely concerned about him. In hes interview afterwards he was very gracious towards Hatton and with what he said seemed to win the British fans over inside the arena. I always knew he was a great fighter but he doesn't seem such a bad guy either.
  20. Ian I broke into your house to take my pic. How olds your Amy now Ian? I'm guessing about 2. Shes lovely by the way.
  21. Picture of my 16 month old daughter Aimee is her little villa suit. http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/6971/newkids003sg9.jpg' alt='newkids003sg9.jpg'>
  22. He was guaranteed 5 mill plus a share of the PPV money. It will more than likely double hes purse.
  23. That sounds like a great fight! But I though Hoya retired??? Anyways I'll know who I'll be routing for in that fight.... It was already muted that win or lose De La Hoya would be Hattons next opponent. The only problem for me is that Ricky is really only a light welterweight and there is no way De La Hoya will ge down to that weight again so Ricky may have to fight at weltherweight which, as tonight proved, is not Hattons best weight. I think the fight will be made though as money talks.
