    It was nowhere near the corner. Instead right down the keepers throat and at head height. I said in the match thread it was like Steers dive v Chelsea last season. They just want to portray these amazing moments that aren't really that amazing. I have to say, the football quality in this tournament is shockingly poor up to now.

    Cynical, or just better in the bigger moments? As @Zatman said Germany were by far one of the most attacking sides in that tournament. Far better than England. I don't even understand why anyone would compare past German tournament winning teams to this England team. That's crazy. Let's reconvene when England get knocked out this tournament through the use of German pragmatism.

    No.... You're trying to compare Germany of the past to England of now. Give over ffs. Italia 90 they were amazing but unfortunately played against a horrendous Argie side in the final. Literally the bollocks with Klinnsmann and Voller. Mattheus in midfield. That side was superb.

    Thats dreadful keeping for the FK. Keeper was central, the shot wasn't in the top corner. Great assist for Kane playing at CB though. Wales falling apart.

    Southgate is just a bottle job. He's literally on the toilet from here on in, shitting it. I expect very little from England once we're in the knockout stages.

    It's a really bad look for him imo. If there is one trait a manager needs to succeed, it's integrity. He'll be back to a number 2 soon enough.

    Re Belgium: When your leaving players like Teilemans and Trossard on the bench for Witzel or Hazard then trajectory only ends up going one way. I actually agree with KDB but they have an imbecile of a manager in the same way England do with Southgate. Instead of looking to the future and the players that will be there, they continue to constrain themselves with favourites. Also, KDB has been shockingly bad this tournament, he's the last player that should be moaning the way he's trotted about the first couple of games.

    What is going on today. Seems to me a lot of the bigger reputation sides are getting some serious wake up calls. Argentina, Germany, Belgium.... who next.

    I think this is spot on. Southgate's biggest problem has always been bravery. Defensively minded and pragmatic in nature he's a not lose manager, instead of a lets win manager. He's got a good enough squad to challenge for the WC but he could have had a much better one if he wasn't such a nepotist and tactically limited.

    I don't think anyone has been overreacting in criticisms of Southgate. His managerial deficiencies have been well known for some time. Not only is he ridiculously limited as a manager he's actually compromised. His inability to drop favourites, his inability to spot the same problems that existed in the Euros with team shape etc. He's been allowed to waste some amazing football talent that has a lot more in the locker.
