  1. ...But if we're serious about his anthem, we need to decide on suitable lyrics and so on. And then spread the word about it. It seems quite fitting that we would do this at this current point in time, too. At least to me. So how do we go about it. Hand out the lyrics for a few home games, til it gets going? Inundate Facebook, Twitter, and so on? Hell lets get Brigada 1874 in on it. I basically have no idea.
  2. I seem to have taken a lot of credit for this guys idea, all I did was post the lyrics up! Credit where credit's due and all that.
  3. Almost feel sorry for the poor bastards. I'll instead save my sympathy for the generations of kids growing up in Small Heath doomed to an extra Y chromosome or 2.
  4. Sorry if this has been posted, its another Bham Mail article (different to the one above). Funny for the comments below, this being a particularly heart-warming one: yeah, lets not do a portsmouth or leeds(yawn)lets do it the BIRMINGHAM WAY!!!,overcharge fans and get championship crowds, check, get yet another board with no money, check, have the transfer funds of a lower half championship side, check, tell anyone that will listen we,re after premier strikers, but dont really have any chance of landing them, check, end up with usual lower league strikers(you know, the ones "for the future"),check, watch as our neighbours show how when in trouble,to give their club and fans a huge lift, spend more than our last two years budget on one player, check,oh,and finally GET RELEGATED AS USUAL,CHECK,HAD BLOODY ENOUGH,CHECK,AND CHECK http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-sport/birmingham-city-fc/birmingham-city-fc-news/2011/01/18/birmingham-city-the-finances-which-killed-the-robbie-keane-deal-97319-28003593/2/
  5. I think thats a very good idea. Verse is pretty long but I guess thats the idea of a club anthem. An old cowboy went riding out one dark and windy day Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way When all at once a mighty herd of red eyed cows he saw A-plowing through the ragged sky and up the cloudy draw Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky For he saw the Riders coming hard and he heard their mournful cry Yippie yi Ohhhhh Yippie yi yaaaaay Ghost Riders in the sky Is there a google translate for football chants?
  6. Fair enough. Any other abandoned ex-regulars that we could try and resurrect? I always liked the 1-10 chants, such as Chelsea's 'ten men went to mow', and Utd's Cantona Xmas one. We got Carson Yeung's dog-eating one, but it's not particularly inspired...
  7. Agree I personally think we need to use 'oh when the Villa go marching in' but the slow version that builds up over about two verses then goes into the normal version. It's very apt to sing that just before the players are walking out and can you imagine the whole ground singing it? ohhhh whenn the villaaaaaaaaaaa go marching innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn ohhh whenn the viiillllaaaa goooo maaarrcchhhiiing iinnnn i wannnaaa beeeeeeee innnnn theee numbeerrrrr ohhhh when the villlaaaaa goooo marrrching innnnnnnnn Yeh, that would sound great sung slowly...a slower pace chant not only lasts longer, but has a different kind of effect, so who knows why so many of them are rushed through nowadays. Here's the spurs version of that chant sung slowly to begin with and gradually gaining momentum. Stealing straight from the yiddos? Cringe.... We can come up with something better. I'll come back when I've thought of something, you do the same! Erm excuse me have you never been to a Villa game? We have sung this for years. We've sung it slowly gradually gaining momentum and going to the original version but most people don't know it so they just go straight into the regular one. Ha you patronising ****. K4, and I cannot recall ever hearing a slow version of 'Oh when the Villa'.
  8. Ha at Blues and Keane. Tbh I thought they were a match made in heaven. Both shit. And for anyone listening to this Sunderland fool trying to ruin what is undoubtedly a day of celebration for us, think back over the past year. Heartbreak at Wembley twice Milner ditching MON ditching Ireland being shite 6-0 Us being shite Knocked out by Rapid Vienna GH being shite Failing to beat SHA on 3 occasions Relegation scrap We deserve some **** time off. And we deserve some good news. It's all good from here. Trust.

  10. Kevin Phillips reckons Bent just wants money. Wonder what Milner, Barry, Tevez, Yaya Toure, Silva............................................. (half an hour later) Dzeko, and Balotelli wanted. Probs went for the history and prestige of Man City right?
  11. Keeping our best players it would seem. Good. About time! Can't wait to see this new look team with everyone firing!
  12. Ha, probs just told his agent - '**** if im going there, just tell 'em I want 70k a week'
  13. ennit, its unbelievable. drooling at the prospect of a lethal Gabby-Bent partnership. Yummy.
  14. To be honest Stu, you put in another pathetic half-arsed performance against our most hated rivals again, I may not forgive you.
  15. A goal every other game, the third highest scorer in the Premier League since 2005 behind Rooney and Drogba. You obviously don't know a good striker when you see one, who would sign in instead? I know a good footballer when I see one and it's not this useless tool. You on the other hand obviously make your decisions based on stats rather than ability. He might score the odd goal for us but with him in the team we'll be a worse football team and we'll lose more games. if he's worth £18m why hasn't any of the top 4 come in for him. Why was he a total flop at spurs? Ah yes, 'stats'. Or in this case, 'facts'. Meaningless, agreed.
  16. Lol, love this one. I was watching Liverpool vs Everton yesterday after the Villa match and I gotta say that 'You'll never walk alone' anthem before the game sounds great. It has probably been said time and time again, but it would be great if Villa had a pre-game anthem like this, something slow and meaningful where the whole crowd can join in. Woah, GarethRDR might be looking to claim some royalties off you there. What do Sunderland sing for Darren Bent. I bet we can improve it
  17. Oh yeah, and many thanks to MM. I think you are owed a lot of apologies by a lot of people on here. Still led us slightly astray with the 'meltdown' comment tho
  18. Yeh, but 'letting him know' that he's crap, ie chanting about the sack, booing... adds extra pressure on him and the players. Our performances so far this season have put us under enough pressure already, I'd like to think our fans won't contribute any more til the seasons over.
  19. Potentially to the detriment of our season? Ultimately perhaps contributing to relegation? No ta.
  20. Personally I've been changing my mind on Houllier on an almost week-by-week basis. Pretty pathetic but there you go. I haven't felt as strongly about wanting him to go since that Liverpool night, though City away was pretty god damn sickening. Recently it has sunk in that Houllier will be at the helm til, at the very least, the end of next season, bar some drastic results that would see us go down. Time to just strap in and support the guy, he hasn't earnt it, but I would rather say we got behind him and he failed than we never gave him a real shot. I don't like the spin-off debates about MON, or people making ridiculous excuses for Houllier, or the underperforming players. But I really want him to succeed here and create a sustainable foundation that will echo for a decade, the likes of which MON, for all his worth, could not.
