  1. i swear i read that werewolf once said leeds were not as big as blose. is teh guy having a laugh???
Well speaking as a Leeds resident for the last 36 years, I have hated Leeds United with a passion as long as I can remember. But you know what? Leeds are a thousand times the club that Small Heath are.
  2. I'd get Neil Young's After the Goldrush. It was the one everyone raved about when I asked the same question, and I wasn't disappointed.

But perhaps Decade if you want to play it safe, and hear more of a variety. I often find it's more difficult to get into the individual albums if you go for a compilation first though.

    Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.
  3. A fitting follow-up to the Who/Zep and Beatles/Beach Boys polls, featuring another two of my musical heroes.

I love them both, but I've gone for the one with most influence and cultural significance - Dylan - even though I probably listen to more Young.

I think these polls are easier for younger people who can come to the 60s artists without preconceptions, and simply choose what they like or dislike. For my generation it's not so simple. For us, these performers are truly iconic, to the point that they literally made us who we are. By way of analogy: to me, someone like Dylan is not just another rock musician, just as Aston Villa is not just another football club.

I can appreciate a contemporary band in the way I can appreciate any football team that plays well. But I will forgive Dylan or the Beatles their mistakes, just as I forgive Villa all the let-downs and frustrations. They are my loves, not simply disposable entertainment.

Who or Zeppelin? Beatles or Beach Boys? Dylan or Young? It's like being asked to choose between your children. :(

  4. did anyone read this? its comedy gold!

    Hilarous!

Oh thank you, that has made my day.

"Often you offer players more money (e.g. Gary Cahill) but he chose to go to another club. In hindsight - and hindsight is a great thing - had we signed Cahill in January we might have stayed up. However, what can you do if a player doesn't want to live in Birmingham or play for BCFC? We offered him £2k a week more than Bolton, but he chose Bolton".

"For the record I'm an Economics scholar from LondonUniversity and hold a BSc (Hons) in Economics".

"What about Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Norwich, Ipswich, Southampton, Leicester and Coventry - to name just a few. None of these clubs have done as well as us".

"Who wants to be associated with difficult, abusive and down right disgraceful supporters?"

"As a final note, I think supporters should know that the journalist Pat Murphy, who wrote the piece to which I'm replying, is suing the club for thousands of pounds for personal injuries sustained following a fall from the TV gantry after the Arsenal game whilst carrying his equipment down the ladder".

    :crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh:

    Long may he reign!

  5. Given the number of votes for "other", this looks like an ill-thought-out poll.

My favourites probably give away my age, but they are:

    1) Radio 3

    2) Radio 2 (evenings only)

    3) Classic FM if R3 is playing opera or piano music at the time

    4) 5Live

    5) Radio 4

    6) TalkSport

90% of my radio listening is in the car, at home I'm more likely to be playing CDs or watching TV/DVD.

  6. General, as you may know, David Gold was in tears today, could you please call him and tell him how to run a football club. Perhaps if he wasn't so flippant about your credentials he would be more respected by his own fans.
Come to think of it General, perhaps you should demote him to David Bronze....
  7. You lot elevated generational rivalry ("don't trust anyone over 30") to an art form...

The old saw about grandparents and children getting along comes to mind...

Don't have any grandchildren yet. But my daughters (20 and 18 ) love music from many eras , not least the 60s.
  8. I love Who's Next, Who Sell out and Quadrophenia best but then again, my all time favourite track is Led Zep - Thank You from Led Zep II
    Will you marry me?

Hey, why not, we like similar music, we're bothVilla fans - what would Mrs Mooney think about it though :)

Glad to be rid of me, I should think!
