  1. That's a tough choice - I like at least one song by all of them except the Allmans (who I am totally unfamiliar with).
The Allmans are bloody ace, Rob. Try the "Eat A Peach" double album for a good cross-section of their style.
  2. Vaguely inspired by Connells latest thread...

The lead singer of the Eels' dad was the fella who came up with the theory of parellel universes.

I knew that one. There was a really interesting program about it on the telly a few months ago.

Actually it wasn't all THAT interesting.

Carbon emissions in the USA circa April 2008. Obviously it doubles up as a population density map, but for ignorant gits like me its quite interesting to see just how much of the USA is sparsely habited.

Not much going on in Nevada, is there? Apart from that very regular rectangular strip down its western border - what's that about?
  4. Odd thing is the original Vox guitars wern't actually very nice to play.

I nearly bought a left handed Vox teardrop for about £300 back in the late 80's but it played awfully, compared to a new guitar. I think I was going theough a phase of likeing "The Mission" and Wayne Hussey played one. But glad in hindsight that I didnt.

    Wouldn't mind a Vox AC30 amp though.

I once had a an AC50, split top & speaker. Noisy as ****.
  5. Morrisons. I used to not like them as they seemed a bit depressing and drab. But then I compared prices with my alternative (Sainsburys) - massive difference. And over the last couple of years Morrsions have improved their ranges a lot - their fresh produce is better than Sainsburys. The stores vary wildly, some are still crap, but my local one is excellent.

That said, they are local here (Leeds) so there are a lot more of them than any other. I don't like Asda, I hate the Tescopoly, and Waitrose and Marks are just ridiculously overpriced.

Ken Morrison all the way for me.

  6. Here's a good one.

If you wear special glasses with inverted lenses to make everytihng appear upside down, after a period of time, your eyes will automatically switch, so that things seem normal.

If you then take the glasses off, everything is upside down and will take another length of time for your eyes to revert to their original view.

Try it, it really doea work, but not advisable in the workplace as it's pretty dangerous.

Oh, OK. Let's see, I think I've got a pair of vision-inverting glasses in the drawer here, somewhere....
  7. At only 5 feet and 9 inches, Mr. Carlos von Upminster of Bogota is the world's smallest giant.

He also holds the record for being the world's tallest dwarf.

Surely that's the definition of average height!

Indeed, thus completing Mr. von Upminster's remarkable hattrick of world records - he is also the most averagely heighted man in the world.

It's all in The Hackenthorpe Book of Lies.
