  1. Entertaining football. A team who look like they're fighting for the cause. Bringing in new hungry players who won't be on mega-salaries and take the piss. An atmosphere in VP that doesn't involve half the people there being in a sulk. Oh, and not being relegated would help.
  2. I dunno about TT being bought out by the media, I reckon the bookies have got there first!
  3. I think part of it is that a lot of people stand to receive a bit of a personal windfall if he is appointed Firstly yes, there is definitely an element of "different" and the excitement/anticipation/expectation that brings. However OGS was, except for I think in one post on a different thread, never a name put into the mix. So I think for much part the reaction is towards OGS specifically, rather than just the element of different. He has single handedly managed to make every other potential candidate seem second best. As for the money thing, isn't that chicken and egg? People put money on because they want OGS, or they want OGS because they put money on?
  4. I guess today will be very quiet, at least until Molde's match later on. Be interesting to see what sort of reaction OGS gets and how he acts on the touchline.
  5. Get everyone to ring the club asking whether OGS has signed so they can renew their season ticket.
  6. If you've agreed to a contract that has a clause in it allowing him to go speak to bigger clubs, you can't complain if it does actually happen. It's a decision taken at the time the contract is agreed, the fact it has happened is neither here nor there because they've obviously agreed to the possibility by signing up.
  7. Yea, what a knob head. Why the **** would we want to revert back to that dross. Exactly. Tight defending, pacy attacking football, top 4 quality star players... Surely we've grown out of all that by now? Maybe we're heading back to that, just in a slightly different way. Does OGS have a fixed first 11 for example? A team that gets picked whether it's out of form or not?
  8. Being like MON makes you popular? Baby Jesus wept. I suppose for most people, MON must be on the cusp of immortality given the way things have gone since.
  9. Having just seen SSN's yellow bar before I bothered to read this, I wasn't too happy. Having read this thread, it seems that the latest position is that :- 1. OGS is not taking the Villa job - because he hasn't been offered it so therefore CAN'T rather than WON'T 2. He isn't looking for a new job, but that in no way means that he wouldn't take a job that came looking for him 3. SSN have got it totally wrong 4. He has got two more years on a contract, so in the absence of being offered anything else, he'll carry on Now that all just sounds like total common sense to me. I've been in jobs before but got a call out of the blue to attend an interview and I took the job. Wasn't looking, had no reason to look, but I changed anyhow. Fail to see how the situation is any different, aside from I got to my interview on the bus.
  10. Right now I think the situation is that the talks have suggested that both parties are interested, now it's up to Villa to make an official approach and agree terms but things like this can't be done on a handshake in 20 minutes - the lawyers have to get involved for the contractual side.
  11. 8 more pages since I went to bed, the cold light of day and a cup of coffee leads to..... loads of positivity and a handful of notes of caution. What's going on?! This is too good to be true  If we're onto the "expectations" discussion then I reckon this is pretty simple. Last season we played aimless, dire, boring football which led to poor results, angry fans, and an entertainment index score that much have been negative. If OGS comes along, gets the team playing as if they're already winners, takes the game to the opponents, actually tries to score, etc etc - then I can't believe for one second we'd be finishing any lower than we did. And that'd be progress for me. Like most people have already said, the biggest positive in this is that OGS appears to have galvanised the fans and it's an opportunity for the club to get every fan coming to VP with a sense of optimism and enthusiasm. You know things are wrong when you turn up to watch us play Bolton at home thinking that we'll be lucky to get out of it with a point. With OGS we'll probably be turning up thinking we can turn Citeh over.
  12. Please for the love of god, make it happen Villa. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
  13. This whole thing is either done and dusted and Villa/OGS are letting the dust settle before a final annoucement; or we really do want to speak to two other candidates and this has been massively blown out of all proportion by the fans. However, the sheer level of excitement and positivity being shown towards a potential OGS appointment is going to mean that any other candidates are going to have to have the ability to make fans NOT say "yeah great, but I wish it was OGS". Of the "best" candidates originally listed - Rodgers has turned down Liverpool saying he's not ready for it, so what makes him ready for us exactly? Sod him. Lambert - no idea what's going on in the background but he's had one season in the Premiership and now his top goalscorer's put a transfer request in. I reckon they'll collapse next season. Martinez? Spends every season keeping Wigan from going down. Just cannot see at all how on earth he's going to come to a club in turmoil and make us radically different. I think the Liverpool issue is going to put a spanner in the works - some "bigger name" managers might delay talking to us thinking they're in with a shout at Anfield. Well, sod them too. I'd like a manager who wants to come to us - and OGS duly got on a plane and came and spoke with us. No delays, no "but there's other jobs I might want to do more than yours", no messing by either side. Randy sends his jet, OGS comes over. We NEED to do this deal.
  14. Probably work on the deal over the weekend, take him round the facilities, shoot all the TV interviews and stuff for the AVFC website, then press conference on Monday morning to wrap it all up.
  15. Well that explains the lack of big pre-season home friendly then!
  16. Yeah, take a look where that brilliant criteria got us last time :winkold:
  17. Christ almighty, if you're an air traffic controller I am NEVER flying into or out of BHX again given you spend all your time reading VT!
  18. Here's one, I don't use twitter. you don't need to - everyone's reading a twitter feed that's published live to a norwegian website, not twitter itself.
  19. Probably just that AV have asked how much it would cost in compensation, Molde have told us, and we've not baulked at it.
  20. Like most things contractual in football, it's probably until June 30th and if they're paying him they probably want to play him.
  21. Have I woken up in some parallel universe? Just read 8 pages of VT and it's all positivity and excitement. It's either that, or it's 2006 again. Everything does seem to suggest that AML's reign was pretty much over a month ago at least, question is how much contact there's already been with OGS or any other candidates/agents behind the scenes.
