The young lads played fantastic, but football games last 94 minutes and 30 seconds, and theres no point defending great for 94 mins then conceding with the last header of the game. Young must be rueing the missed chances at the end of the game. Bannan was superb, and Ireland came on for a few minutes and only made good contributions.

I thought we played really well for large parts of that match, but the minute we ran out of steam you could sense the goals coming. The fact Kevin Macdonald couldn't feel them coming and a need to freshen up is a good enough reason alone why he didn't get the job. Inexperience.

At the end of the day Gerard is a manager who loves the game. A lot of pros have very good things to say about him. Liverpool never fell out of the top 5 under him in a full season charge, won a treble with them, came close to winning the title when they finished second, Lique 1 title in his 2 years with Lyon. He has experience in winning trophies in England and in Europe. Not to mention his contacts. And I ain't mugging myself off chap! I'm optimistic that he can do a good job here.

I'm happy with the appointment of Houlier. He was one of the much better names mentioned. Could be really good for us. I don't get why this makes the board ambitionless?
