  1. Interesting game yesterday. Although the scoreline was massively one sided I don’t feel like the game was like that til the last 20 mins when your heads dropped. Obviously the injury to Mings rocked you massively and I hope for his sake that it isn’t as bad as it looked. I thought we were quite shaky at the back in the first half but tightened up to our normal selves in the second half. Will put it down to a bit of rustiness and some good play from Diaby. You looked excellent going forwards in patches. I think we’re quite well matched teams, despite the last few league games having very one sided scorelines. From our point of view it’s quite exciting to see the talent we have moving forwards, such strength in depth especially in the midfield three and up top. I think Isak has finally put to bed the “best NUFC striker since Shearer” debate that’s often had in Tyneside boozers. He’s an absolute freak. The closest thing to an Henry clone we’ll see, and I’ll be staggered if the absolute top teams aren’t in for him at some point. I do think we’re short of a right winger but that’ll probably be next summers priority. One more defender in and we’ll be looking to have good depth all over the pitch.
  2. We’ve got two games this weekend so he has split the squad. Pope will play in tomorrows game. Our pre season has been solid if unspectacular. Our best performance was probably Fiorentina today, with our worst performance the game against yourself. Best players in pre season have been Miley (17 years old) and Anderson. Targett has looked a bit shaky at the back and Schar has had a knock. Willock will miss the game through injury and Longstaff is just coming back from a layoff. I don’t imagine Tonali and Barnes will start next week. I imagine we’ll line up like this: Starting: Pope, Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn, Bruno, Joelinton, Anderson, Gordon, Isak, Almiron. Subs: Dubravka, Livramento/Targett, Lascelles, Tonali, Longstaff, Miley, Murphy, Barnes, Wilson.
  3. I love stuff like this. We’ve had it all season. Us pesky non Super League clubs should just go to Anfield and roll over to have our bellies tickled.
  4. Just to flag neither of the above requests were mine! We do have some whoppers within our support. No doubt they’ll become more exaggerated as the club grows in stature over the next few years.
  5. You’re giving Bruce too much credit there.
  6. Yeah last year we finished 11th but we were 3 points off 8th and only 7 off Europe. Considering we were 19th January that was a bit ridiculous. Our bench is still horrendous at the moment and we’ve been very lucky with injuries this season. But we’ve only really for about 14 players that Howe trusts and you can see we’ve ran out of steam. The World Cup was a blessing for us because we only had a couple of players there so the squad got a good rest. Regardless of which competition we’re in next year I’ll be surprised if there isn’t big changes. We need 5 or 6 in and lots need to go. In addition to the ones you mention there we’ve still got Ryan Fraser, Cieran Clark, Jeff Hendrick, Isaac Hayden and Emil Krafth on the books. The Mike Ashley legacy lives on still… It’s a bit tricky with the conference league for you because on one hand it’s European football and a damn good chance of winning a cup, versus playing a ridiculous number of games in far flung countries that would be massively detrimental to league form. For me though? Stuff the league. Football is all about glory and following your team to ridiculous places. With regards to the league I think what’s exciting for me is seeing the likes of Newcastle, Villa and Brighton now challenging the self proclaimed super league 6. **** the lot of them. They were willing to ruin European football for their own greed. It’s going to get to the point soon where everyone has decent money to spend in the premier league and the quality of a teams manager has never been more important. Fortunately, we’ve got two of the very best around.
  7. Please beat the scouse bastards.
  8. We need a win regardless. Our fans are shitting ourselves that we’ll lose it on the final day. If Liverpool beat Leicester tomorrow then arses will well and truly twitch. For what it’s worth I think you’ll finish 7th. If you don’t though, I fancy you for top 4 next year.
