  1. Once again, i've got to say how refreshing it is to see a member of the board taking time to answer questions here. I think its a great way of showing people how 'human' the new owners are. I'd also agree with further sentiments about doing something with the Evening Mail, while i can't stand they're current stance on Villa, (perhaps we could get a new 'villa' reporter instead of the current one working for the mail), The paper is unfortunatly the only way to read the latest news about the club for alot of the fans, and it'd be great if could we get regular 'unbiased' coverage for our club. Although this is slightly alluding to comments made by contraversial VillaTalk member 'Heathcliff'.
  2. £9m would get us Nugent at 5m and Milner at 4m and IMO would be a good bit of business unless of course MON decides to go for Shaun Maloney after all Wouldn't be bad business at all imo.
  3. I have no qualms about Darren Bent, ive said many times in this thread of circles that i'd love him to join. the reason i suggest you have links to man utd, is that you know far to much for my liking about Man Utd's average players not jst they're good ones. the likes of Wes Brown, Fletcher, O'Shea, Richardson you've all at one point said that they should join Villa. None of them are worth signing to move us forward, infact, i wouldn't even be looking at signing players from the big 4 simply because if they're not good enough for them, then why are they good enough for us. Thats the place we're aspiring to. While other people are at it, Surely calling me a bitch is a yellow card offence?
  4. Red card? Is that really a redcard offence? I wasn't aware you'd become a mod Oldfart.
  5. Interesting. Got any evidence for this statement? I remember him going on loan and cheering when "that" club stayed up... Come on Rocafella, own up, your a man utd fan really aren't u?
  6. But we have no backup to Luke and Gabby, I'd take Milner in a shot, a boy who works hard, can play either wing, a decent cross with either foot. We need him atm.
  7. After reading the general's posts i've got to say how mind blowingly refreshing it is to have him on this board, we rarely got in the same room with the previous incumbants but to have a director of our club take the time to read and answer queries online, i think says a lot about the character of the new owners. It also filled me with great pride and 'even' more enthusiasm to read his replies to the many questions asked and further more assures me that our clubs is in the safest of hands. I personally wasn't that concerned if the new owners were 'supporters' of the club, i jst wanted the job done right, and after having 25 years of a 'supporter' in charge we can certainly see that it isn't always a good thing. Further more i'm 100% sure that our club will begin to rebuild itself due to it being ran by consumate proffessionals. One quiry though, what is actually happening to the Holte Hotel? and what is it going to be?
  8. While i think Klose is still out our League, if beckham wants a return to England, there aren't many options left for him. Us being 1 of a few available.
  9. www.talkingballs.co.uk - Can't see any mention of our done deal.
  10. TBH, we're one of very few English clubs that he'd join or that will be in for him.
  11. I jst have a sneaking feeling we'll win. Not sure why as it has the markings of a game for Liverpool to dispell all the paper talk after they're shambolic start to the season and we can't go unbeaten all season.
  12. I actually wondered about Beckham, I think he's a risk and on the wrong side of 30 for a top 4 club, leaving us, spuds and newcastle the next tear of clubs that he could join. We can dream, anyway.
  13. Went to the game today, as alot of people obviously haven't judging by the comments. A whole bunch of Keyboard warrior stuff at the begging of this thread and quite frankly it's garbage. Think there's a few points that i need to state before i give my match ratings. *I think it says alot of what MON thinks of Bouma when he plays Ridge at LB. *How much did we miss McCann? Barry was put in the middle 2nd half but nobody can control the midfield like McCann. *Fulham got what they came for, they're a horrible sly little team that close you down quickly but leave a foot in late in the tackle, They played for the point and got one. Ratings. Sorenson - 7 - Not alot to do, and did nothing wrong, was furious with the rest of the team alot of the time for wasting his quick throws out. Hughes - 6 - While i can't fault Hughes's effort, he ability is often found wanting, Steady as usual. Mellberg - 6 - Dealt with everything thrown at him, Looked comfortable. Laursen - 7 - While the crowd were cheering the old god, i think we could be looking at the new one, He was fantastic at times, His mind is too quick for alot of the premiership and despite his 'dodgy' Knees and not being the quickest, his brain sees him out of any possible trouble. Ridge - 6 - Never a LB, but played admirably, still the only defender that talks and gave 100% in an unfamiliar position. You could tell he's a CB with some of his crosses. Gabby - 6 - For me very quiet but i think this have more to do with he doesn't no how to play as an out and out winger, struggled to get past his man when he had time on the ball, Benefits from Angel so much when Angel can play him in while in the 4-3-3. Petrov - 6 - The quietest i've seen him, it was quite telling that McCann wasn't on the pitch and Petrov didn't get into the game, deserved the penalty for the run alone. Davis - 6 - Another quiet one, while i don't think this is solely down to McCann's absence, think Davis is about to hit a wall and should benefit from Osbourne's emergance. Barry - 7 - Barry struggled today, i think it had alot to do with the changing of roles, he put the penalty away brilliantly but another player who sorly misses McCann. and Jez jst reminded me that he was at fault for the goal, got pulled inside and Volz snuck in behind. Angel - 7 - Now i stood at half time and heard some idiots slagging Angel off, i couldn't believe my ears, why are people so quick to slag the man off? This season he is constantly and consistantly giving 100%, tracking back and building play. They're were key moments in the first half when Angel dropped deep and knocked the ball out wide and Barry swung a cross into no one, Simply on that occasion and many others we need two Angel's. He apart from Sutton is the only man who will attack high crosses. Once again undeserved critiscm. Baros - 5 - I really had to think about what rating to give the man but I think it's clear that Baros's future now lies elsewere, The excuse of lack of fitness simply doesn't hack it for me, while he did a couple of good things when he got his head up, he did it so few times. His effort was also alittle better but still not near the standard of Angel, you see Angel busting a gut to chase lost causes but Baros would rather not bother, on a number of occasions waited till the crowd react to make an attempt to close down. I think MON will have seen that he doesn't suite where we want to be, i think personally he'll be 2nd out the door in January behind Djemba unless there's a drastic change of system and attitude from Baros. Subs: Agathe - 6 - Struggled to get goin, has undoubted pace but failed to utilise it today, looks like a player who is still alittle rusty. Osbourne - 7 - I'm giving the kid a seven because although only on for a short period, the first thing he did, was something the midfield hadn't managed to do all game, and that was stick his head on the ball and try and get a grip of midfield. While the other midfielders seemed reluctant to give him the ball when he was screaming out to do something with it. I look forward tentitively for the next appearence of Isiah, Hope he starts at Leicester. Sutton - 6 - Won a few headers and took up some great positions but at that period in the game Villa had lost alot of shape, i'll save my judgement for a few games yet. MON - 8 - Im shocked by the earlier critism of MON but personally i think he did all he could today, i think Bouma's presence on the bench had more to do with CB than LB, hence why we didn't see Bouma make the field of play. Didn't use the excuse of absent McCann and told the press that the team out should of Won, he's right. He said he was mightily disapointed with the teams performance and so were the players. Can't disagree with a man so honest. Overall we struggled to get goin mostly due to not getting a grip of midfield. Come back Gav The Destroyer. All those critics are firmly eating they're words as it was plain to see despite his limitations, he is probably the key componant in our team.
  14. I don't think they'res much to this Balde bid, We've got 4 very capable CB, and MON seems to like Cahill alot and with Ridge keeping Laursen out the team on merit then it's not a priority to strenghen CD. Full Backs and Wingers, with a McCann type midfielder (only with abit more quality) would seem the positions we need to add to, aswell as someone long-term to challenge JPA for his position.
  15. I'm pretty confident that previously we've never had the money for him. and personally would love him to be the spearhead of our attacking 3.
  16. I really can't see this happening, he joined Palermo from the disintergrating Parma, Palermo have big asperations (similar to us) and that is why he joined them only 4 months ago.
  17. who would you prefer Barton or Nolan ? Neither Are you kidding me? Nolan is the dogs bollocks. I can understand why people wouldn't want Barton (he's a word removed), but I fail to see why you would say no to Nolan. LOL, sorry i always find it hard to believe when someone calls a player 'the dogs bollox' i think i'd like a reason arguement, Personally i don't think Nolan would take McCann's place, think Nolan's position is covered by a better player (petrov)
  18. Are you suggesting not buying anyone in january jst so we have more money to spend in the next pre-season.
  19. I know we're not meant to comment on other sites but i found this post quiet funny: Clicky Since when has Damien Dugdale been the be all and end all of football, this guy enfuriates me.
  20. Think all the players mentioned by Richard are real possibilities, Possibly only Reo-Coker i wouldn't take nor would leave WH, although he is said to be very unhappy when West Ham rejected bids from ManUre before they signed carrick.
