  1. Bit of shite scheduling to have the game at the same time as the men’s game.

EDIT: Seems it no longer does clash for us (could’ve sworn it was originally 2pm!) but does now clash for Everton. So original point still stands. Kind of.

  2. Can’t wait for his contract to be over. His first season was fun, and he showed some true quality, but he’s costing us £9m a year in FFP costs. He never seems to be available to play for us, and that’s probably one of the reasons we didn’t get a suitable offer for him in the summer. No room for sentiment.

Bryan Crisante now being linked. Anyone know anything about him?

Similar in style and ability to Dendoncker. He’s nowhere near the level we should be aiming for, and doubt there’s anything in the rumour.

  4. I really hope we do go ahead and begin the process next summer. We really need that work to be done to push to the next level, and the rhetoric from that Athletic article has me a wee bit concerned, especially as it’s already been delayed by a year.

  5. My man of the match last night. His last few performances have been excellent, and gives Unai a genuine headache with team selection. It also makes me less nervous about Doug’s impending suspension.

    Up the Youri!

  6. He had two horrific injuries a few years ago, and just hasn't looked the same player since. It was definitely a gamble worth taking, as he genuinely was a very exciting player before those ACLs. It's still early days, and being played out of position hasn't helped, however at this moment in time, I wouldn't be looking to make the move permanent. There's still some way to go, of course, however he's looking now how he looked for the most part for Roma post injuries. I would love for Nico to get back to his pre-ACL self, however it's too much of a gamble for us given the cost of the transfer, and our apparently tight FFP.

However, the big caveat to this is that I would love to see him on the right or in the Diaby role, and Europe is the time and place to do that. He's not a right sided player, so it's made it additionally difficult for him to find his feet.

Well yes, but only by lots of our teams going far in the competitions (ie: semi's and finals) do we get enough win points.

England are currently 6th in the rankings for this season equal with Germany. Need to overtake Italy and pull ahead of Germany.

Spain will be top 2, and we should overtake Belgium, Netherlands and Turkey anyway.

Spain will struggle as Osasuna got knocked out of the Conference League at qualifying stage. So all of their points are divided by 8, despite only 7 teams still being in Europe. Whereas we have all 8 teams still competing. From what I understand, anyway!

  9. If Duran is struggling mentally, I hope the club is giving him all the support he needs, and I’m sure they are.

We’ve seen after the Tielemans interview how players can be affected by baseless lies and rumours online, so let’s not jump to conclusions here by saying he has an attitude problem, or go back to the nonsense about him being a poor signing.

My main gripe with multi club models is when clubs are taken over and put into these models as 'feeders' without their supporters having no say (777 Partners). So far this has been entirely avoided in V Sports: Vitoria is still majority supporter-owned and had to vote to approve the arrangement several times in the first place, they could kick us out if they felt they were getting shafted by us.

To be honest I think there's a clear plan in mind with V Sports, which you can't say for a lot of multi club models to be honest. Rather than be everything all at once, from what Vitoria's president and some articles have alluded to, I get the impression the overarching goal is to create this large worldwide academy network more than anything else. You've got clubs/academies in Egypt, Japan and Senegal who now have established pathways to European football in Villa and Vitoria.

It's not like Villa now have any sway over how Vissel Kobe operates or anything, but having that set in stone pathway to European football (to both Villa AND Vitoria being key here) is obviously a huge selling point and advantage for these clubs. And for their trouble they get close access to a Premier League team's resources.

Saying that, the Vitoria issues with UEFA seems to have been a bit of a fiasco. Perhaps between that and the failed bid for an MLS team they've changed up their strategy a little bit. I'm sure I read before we signed him that Omar Khedr from ZED was going to sign for Vitoria a few months back, but clearly we must have decided that he should go straight to us when UEFA blocked that Vitoria --> Villa pathway for at least a season.

I think we changed the plan with Khedr because the Premier League relaxed its rule about signing players on points based system, you're now allowed up to four per season that don't need to qualify. So whereas before it wouldn't have been possible without sending him to Vitoria first, we were now able to sign him directly ourselves.

Weren't we told by the Premier League that the star can't sit outside the badge? Some stupid rule?

Putting it above the shield, but also being part of the badge to circumvent their weird rule just makes it look wrong, so I think that's why it had to be inside.

On @OutByEaster? question about the reveal....I'm really not sure. Would we want yet another badge floating around for this season? The would give us 4 basically. I think they'd prefer to reveal at the end of the year.

But leaks happen so do you let the leaks happen, knowing that people will know what it is and undermine the big reveal?

Forest have theirs above their badge, so we must be allowed to as well?

Any of you tried lactase tablets?

Tried it once, Thanksgiving 2020. My American housemate wanted to cook all of her traditional dishes. I took the recommended dosage of the tablet, but I’d have just been better off not taking it, and throwing the meal straight down the toilet. Think I spent most of that weekend in solitary shitting through the eye of a needle. It’s what the pilgrims would’ve wanted!

    Lactose free substitutes.

I used to get migraines back in the day but they stopped more or less the same time the body decided to become lactose intolerant. Now I have to check everything for milk in the ingredients. But the thing that pees me off more than anything is when you get milk substitutes, I mean I'm virtually vegan when it comes to restaurants and takeaways and even that isn't that much of an issue compared to going to a Costa, or sandwich places, cinema or anywhere serving refreshments.  When it comes to asking for lactose free milk they give you a million and one shitty vegan options - soya, oat, coconut, belt, table and all sorts of other shi*e. I once tried to suggest to one establishment that there was lactose free milk, which is normal milk without the lactose and maybe that could also stock that. Returned at a later date and its still the same old shi*e.

As a fellow suffer of lactose intolerance, I actually find oat milk lovely, and much nicer than normal milk. Lactose free butter is also grand, although as I've mentioned in another thread I'm not hugely bothered by butter, so this doesn't affect me so much.

It's the cheese that is the issue for me. I do miss cheddar. You can get parmesan that's 30+ months old that is basically lactose free, but the like for like vegan substitutes are absolutely vile.

This had me wondering the other week when I took the train journey, did it not used to be "see it, say it, sort it" years ago when it was first launched, Or has that just appeared in my head from nowhere?

Yeah I’m sure it used to be that. And it was fine, decent even, it made sense. Now it’s just a mess.
