  1. Talking of the security guys. When there was the threat of ISIS during the Champions League week, when we played Lille, the security guard wasn’t checking anyone in the turnstile I went through in the Upper Holte. My flabbers were gasted. Of all the games. Of course nothing happened, but I’d have preferred to have been checked thoroughly just in case.

  2. Biggest priority for me in the summer is a tall, dominant, beast of a centre half. We’re far too weak defensively, and concede from set pieces all the time. Konsa is a lovely player, but he’s not as good as Pau Torres on the ball, and I’m not convinced he’s a good enough right back going forward.

Some difficult decisions will have to be made if we want to become an elite side, and a defence containing Pau Torres (who is our only defender who should be guaranteed a starting place next season) needs to have a defender like Mings alongside him. If we can find a right footed Mings, that’d be a dream.

Ideally Konsa will master the right back position over the next couple of months, and Mings will come back as he was before, but I’m not hopeful of either. And we can’t afford to be sentimental.

I’m expecting serious backlash for this. So go ahead.

  3. Non-footballing income should absolutely be excluded from PSR rules. Hotels, concerts, and other sports hosting should not be allowed to be spent on football. By all means allow the parent companies to profit from it, but not the football club.

  4. Limiting supply means they’ll be able to charge more per ticket. So in the long run, they can see us making more money per ticket with a 45,000 capacity rather than a 55,000 capacity. Don’t West Ham and Man City have an issue in that they give away a load of free tickets a game? If there’s such a surplus, the cost of the ticket goes down.

I don’t agree with this, by the way, I just think this is the current thinking.

  5. There has been no rumours for this at all, this is merely my suggestion. But I think we could do a lot worse than resign O’Hare on a free this summer as a squad player. He’s been brilliant for Cov, wouldn’t cost much money, and would count as a homegrown player for Europe. Thoughts?

  6. Realistically we’re not going to be able to get £15m for Diego Carlos, so that’ll either be a loan out, or he’ll stay as backup.

And no way we’re getting anywhere near enough of a fee to consider selling McGinn. Think that ship has sailed, and honestly I’m glad! Let’s keep him as long as he wants. Would be great if he could do 10 years here and get a testimonial.

With regards to Hermoso, I saw him live earlier in the week at San Siro, and he was probably the worst player on the pitch. But he was playing against one of the best teams in the world, so I won’t judge him purely on that.

    Honestly, definitely the other.

He hated being with us, for what reason, I know not, but the sight of him sticking his two fingers up to the Holte aftet scoring is indelibly etched on my memory forever.

Went on a bit of a deep dive after seeing this post. On that link there is a video of the whole season review, and about 28 minutes in you can see the goal. Doesn’t look like he sticks anything up to the crowd at all, and further commentary on that post corroborates it.

  8. We know we've not fallen foul of FFP for the forthcoming financial statements, so regardless of this €138m loss or whatever was stated, it's not a concern. It would explain why we may fall foul of FFP for the current season, however, unless we sell prior to June 30th.

I would also say that FFP loss isn't the same as a Profit and Loss Account loss, either, so don't get too hung up on figures and statements that seem worrisome.

I believe our financial statements for the year ending 2023 have to be submitted by the end of this month, so we'll all be able to have a good look at them over the next couple of weeks, and then have a look at what Kevin Maguire says about it, and pass it off as our own knowledge. I know I will.

  9. Tielemans will come in and they’ll shuffle the pack, I’d imagine, with McGinn playing centrally with Douglas.

Or Unai will sense a time to give a new formation a go and go 4-3-3 with Diaby and Bailey out wide. I suspect it will be the former, though.
