  1. Maybe the reason there’s been no rumours about a new number two is that Emi will be number one for all competitions this season. Which personally, I would want anyway. I’m not on board with this modern fascination of having cup keepers. Emi has also specifically stated that he can’t wait to play for us in Europe, which hopefully means he won’t be sat on the bench for them.

David De Gea played 58 times for Man Utd last season, and was only not chosen for the early rounds of the League Cup. So there is precedence for this. And I hope this is our plan for the coming seasons. And if that is the case, I have no issue with us not replacing Olsen. I’d still rather we did, but if Emi is number one for all competitions, it’s certainly less of a risk.

  2. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally love it.  And herein lies the problem of any designer. Some think less is more (as per example the post above), whereas some like more outlandish and quirky designs. They can't win! They can't please everyone.

  3. It’s absolutely not true, don’t worry. Inter sold Onana because they needed money in to strengthen elsewhere, they wouldn’t go after Emi as they know he’d cost far more than Onana. They’re going to sign Sommer and Trubin for in nets, so fear not.

As for where this rumour came from, I’m pretty sure he’s an Argentine journalist who’s been touting Emi out for a couple of years. Odd, but no truth in it and nothing to worry about.

  4. Arnau Martinez is the right back for me. This is an unpopular opinion, but Cash sticks out like a sore thumb in our XI now in terms of ability. Martinez would fit in well, and wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. Prefer him to Fresneda.

  5. Argyle have just bought their right wing back from last season, and spent a sizeable chunk on him, too. So no idea where this leaves our boy. Mumba played a few games on the left last year, so maybe that’s the plan? Not ideal, anyway.

  6. One thing to consider is keeping him around for one more season qualifies him as club homegrown, whereas if we keep loaning him out until he’s 21 then he’ll only be association homegrown. I’d keep him around, and he may even get the chance to get some Conference League minutes.

    Salary of 1,7m euro a year? That's £28,000 a week... for a player that's costing £15m - £20m......

    Doesn't sound correct...

Italians tend to do wages after tax. So it’d be more like £55k per week. If it was true, that is.

Does he not count as a homegrown player for Europe?

Joined Chelsea at 18 and played 4 years

Nope, afraid not. He spent four years at Chelsea, but two of those were on loan in the Netherlands, so he doesn’t count as homegrown.

  9. When people (and usually commentators) say “there’ll be an applause in the 19th minute for Stiliyan Petrov to represent his shirt number” (for example), when actually it starts at the 19 minute mark and therefore is the 20th minute. Really shouldn’t wind me up, but it does.

  10. I personally don’t rate him, he’s been really poor in Italy. Watched an obligatory YouTube video from his time in Belgium to see if that would sway me, but he even looks average at best on there.

Obviously in Unai we trust, but I’m not a fan of this one.

A hell of a lot has changed since January. Not least, the ridiculous loan deal that Chelsea did to get him in thr last window.

No way are we ever going to meet the terms Atletico would want and Unai is fully aware of this hence we have moved on. That's before the fact that the player himself wants a CL club.

We showed interest in Guendozi in January as well, and never went back in for him. Things change both within transfer windows and between them.

Have you heard any more from your source about any pending deals?

  12. The system is absolutely fine. You can give it for free to friends or family, or get the bulk of your money back if you sell it back to the club and they sell it on. Why not 100%? Because fans could then buy a season ticket, with no intention of going to all of the games and not lose out. I sold my ticket for about eight games last season, mostly because I’d just had my kid, so I’ve used it a lot, and it’s absolutely fair and appropriate.

Moan about price increase, or the Terrace View, sure, but not this.

Narrow but using the WBs along the line

    ----------------------Emi----------------------

    -----Konsa------Mings-------Pau------

    Cash-----------Kamara--------Moreno

    ------McGinn---Luiz---Tielemans---

    -------------------Watkins-------------------

Sinisalo, Digne, Carlos, Chambers, Dendonker, Ramsay, Bailey, Countinho, Buendia, Bertie, Archer, Duran

This team would struggle to score more than 35 goals.

Against a Danish league playing CB and one with almost no senior experience IIRC.

And tbh price isn't relevant here - both have to be of a high standard to play for us. Archer scoring for the U21s means less than in the championship, quite a bit less IMO.

The same defender that is on the verge of moving to the Champions League runners up? Don’t belittle this achievement.

Guitar. I should add, we never played together. I was chosen to be in a new version of GZR in 1997 but it was kyboshed as Sabbath reformed.
Though totally gutted, I did get front row seats at the NEC to see them.

That NEC gig in 97 was my first ever concert. Amazing night.

  16. He didn't start many games for Villarreal under Emery, so my guess is he's not going to go for him.

I don't think I've seen enough of Gnonto to have a big opinion of him, he seems decent, but one big positive would be that he'd be a homegrown player after two more seasons, which will be useful for Europe.

Presumably you’ll only be able to go into this new bar if your sat in North stand? Or possibly Trinity too?

Part of the attraction of Villa Live thing was you could go there before and after the game like at the rugby or other PL teams.

Hope they come back to it, no idea what the problems involved were but seems like an opportunity missed.

They likened it to the Holte Suite. I don’t know if that’s only open to Holte End season tickets/match day tickets or not to be honest.

    Thank you!

Do you know who presented the plans from the club?

There was a tour guide there who showed people around the warehouse and the new academy, and in the warehouse there were specific experts who could answer questions.

There was a finance manager there on behalf of Chris Heck, and there was also the project manager of the development there. I’m not sure whether it would be appropriate to share his name, but he’s on Villa’s LinkedIn, and if you do enough sleuthing you can see that he was listed as being at a similar fan consultation event a year ago. He’s got extensive experience in this by all accounts, and was heavily involved in the Qatar World Cup. He still has connections, and said that it’s 95% that we will win the Euros bid.

I actually think that looks better than the original proposed Villa Live building.

I agree. It’s a beautiful 1920s building, and once spruced up will look classy. Big fan.

The new bar will be on the corner between the North Stand and Trinity Road, and have capacity for about 500. The new shop will be the Witton Lane corner.
