and Ben Mee needs new victims…

But we are in luck, since the International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging in Cartagena takes place from 17-21 april. As we all know of our vast knowledge of Duran as an individual he is deeply involved in Colombian biomedical imaging. Thus he will not be back for the game vs Brentford on the 22nd of April. 😏

I think it's more about the chances created - looks like he is around 0.6 goal contributions a game in seasons where he is starting regularly (slight dip in the season when Watford went down).  Him and Bailey should be giving us plenty of attacking threat.  The fact that he might also help get the ball to "stick" higher up the pitch is an added bonus.

I think the chances created is the bonus, and the retaining position higher in the pitch is the main positive 😁

According to WhoScored, Jhon Duran's "weakness" is his discipline.

We're then also linked to Guendouzi and Deulofeu.

Emery just giving himself some work to do, eh?! ;)

And with Wesley gone, another role we need to fill! 😎

If we sign Guendouzi our midfield is set for the next 4 years. Feels like the final piece  to the midfield puzzle.

Ramsey, luiz, kamara and Guendouzi with Tim to come back next season also.

Dont forget A. Ramsey as well. He had an impressive spell in Norwich, and I am sure he will follow in Jacobs footsteps

Moffi we are thinking like the lower end clubs and sarr just has speed we need clinically decisive players that are also more consistent , performing at a high standard weekly and sarr is not quite that player we need to think of higher calibre players now, when you see the likes of newcastle being linked with the likes of moussa diaby then we would be falling way behind with targets like Danjuma and Sarr

We need players who fit what Emery wants to do.

Sarr could be a way better fit than Diaby, even if Diaby is a much flashier name (just theorizing, not saying Sarr is a better fit).

  6. KKH can easily play the right wing as well.

Huddersfield need experience, its not the lack of ability that was the issue. He was one of Championships best performers in December on WhoScored (on the team of the month as well).

If he is ready to get minutes? I dont know, but he needs something that can drive him forward. Emery coaching might be the answer, another loan might be the answer. Hope the people in charge take the correct decisions!

I have worked out our strategy for the window. We have signed Alex Moreno, and are after Gerard Deulofeu. We are after players with the first names of ex managers. Incoming are therefore Martin Odegaard, Dean Henderson, Roberto Firmino, couple of Steves couple  of Rons and a Brian.

Well a new RB should be targeted in the future...

That’s how I feel about Guendouzi but I think we just have to trust Emery.

I’m not sure it does.  We need a forward winger but left back and centre midfield wasn’t a priority for upgrade but I’m always happy to improve of course if that turns out to be the case.  Not sure I would say it’s a solid window.

The weird part about Guendouzi is that his most played positions are offensive midfield / winger this season... I always thought he was a standard CM

Some reserve from Hoffenheim for 30 million or so. Has a poorer goalscoring record than Wes

They only signed one player this january, and thats a defender called Wöber from RB Salzburg (shocker, I know).

They are linked to Rutter (?) or something

Honestly, yeah. He only had half a season in the championship and he wasn’t that good. Could definitely do with proving himself further.

For example, you say balogun struggled in the championship? He had a goal or an assist every 150 minutes in the championship. Archer had a goal or an assist every 200 minutes.

Balogun didnt end up being a starter in Championship, that for me is an indication that Archer had a more successful loan spell that season.

He did very well in Preston, as we can see on their fans reaction both at the time and the dissappointment they had of not getting him again. He does have to get game time and Championship is a great level for that.

Marseille signed Guendouzi for 9 mil just 6 months ago..... and Villa now prepared to pay a x4 for him.
Why didnt we just sign Guendouzi for 9 million last July? Now why not look for the next  Guendouzi instead of paying him x4 in the summer transfer.

Villa just falling into old traps.
Warren Buffet needs to replace Purslow and Lange for me

As @The Inspirationsaid. Marseille loaned him with an option to buy. They decided to trigger it, so nothing we could do a year ago.

Eh???? In what way is that side not solid as a rock?

He even has a CB at RB to add extra Gareth Southgate levels of security when in/out of possession.

I assume all English people hate formations without at least 3 right backs?

if we got Guendouzi, and when Carlos is fit, "and" we add a new wide/inside forward/shadow striker type, i could honestly see this:

    Base formation:

    Going Forward:

this is roughly how Emery played at Villerreal.

I agree this looks solid. Could also play Ramsey in the open spot there and Buendia/Bailey on the right.

  14. I am just hoping we turn into Black Bulls in Black Clover (yes, I should probably stop with my anime references in here), a bunch of misfits and failures doing well. Bring in Guendouzi, bring in Dembele, bring them all in to defeat the opponents.

I agree it was poor play but no one is ever ever ever going to convince me that it's a good idea to play the ball to a player in the middle of the pitch just outside the penalty area with his back to the field of play surrounded by opposition players.

It might be not the greatest choice by Olsen, but that goal is 100% on Dendoncker. He had plenty of time to pass it back to Olsen, he just missed his first touch and **** up.

No, but that would've been a free kick.  The penalty must have been given for the trip inside the box.

With pulling the foul is where the pulling ends, which was inside the box.

The red card and the penalty are both correct, was 100% Dendoncker doing everything wrong in that situation.

  17. He has to assess the squad, and in the league we can still get a place in Europe. I understand him, and agree with his choices.

The team we put out should walk over Stevenage, most of them earns more each week than their players do yearly. Many players didnt earn themselves any favors after that performance, and hopefully Unai can get a better understanding of what we need now.

The left role for Buendia makes sense based on Emery's Villarreal team.  He likes the left mid to cut in, giving space to the attacking left back.  This is more or less what he's doing here, added to the fact we are linked with an attacking left back Alex Moreno.

It makes sense in theory, I agree. However Buendia seems more comfortable on the right, and in Norwich he also cut in from that position. So I feel he would be better there!

  19. He and Mcginn have been brilliant defensively under Emery, but Buendia struggles a bit offensively. Have a feeling it will work out soon, so hope he keeps starting. I do however believe he would be better on the right side, and not the left as he is deployed now.
