  1. Why do we have to put Ings and Watkins up against each other?

Both are great at their specialities, but lacks in other areas.

I hope Ings get more game time, but I still rate Watkins.

  2. tbh 6 of the yellows came in the last 15 minutes vs Brighton.

Not one of them were wrong. Wouldnt call it dirty, but its cynical and shithousery. I dont mind doing this for a bit, but a bit more actual playing time would be nice in our games...

I'd hazard a guess that 99% of this board has no idea what you're talking about!

I expect no less, but I am still trying!

To sum up: its positive 😁

Bailey seems similar to some of the japanese anime protagonists.

If he uses too much of his ability he ends up injuring himself like Naruto. Needs to find a proper sensei to avoid doing it, hope Gerrard can be his Jiraiya/Pervy Sage

I am glad this comment is coming to fruition now. Now we are past the self-injury part and Emery is coming in unlocking what Fukasaku taught Naruto. Perhaps he can also do the Hinata part to fully unlock Kurama as well.

Bailey to become our next Hokage!

  5. I like the choice of doing what Emery did yesterday. Force the players to play a certain style even thou we looked shaky. Yes it sucks to go out in the cup, but Emery had and has a total of 3 games before the WC. Need to get a good look in short time, and I feel he has done that. First half seemed like the guys had been instructed to play the offside trap no matter what.

Curious on the future of Olsen, Augstinsson, Bednarek, Chambers, Mcginn, Nakamba and Ings now. Cannot really see them in the style of Emery, but who knows.

  6. I think only Young played decent of the defenders yesterday.

But JESUS CHRIST our other defenders dont make life easy for Mings, yes he has his flaws but what in the living world is Chambers doing? Mings have to cover 3 roles at once due to the level of Chambers and Augstinsson yesterday. 4 if you include Olsen (I am adament we would not concede any of those goals with Emi in goal).

To be clear, Mings was poor yesterday as well.

Emery is basically a BTEC Paul Lambert.

He likes his slow possession football, he is pragmatic and he favours a double pivot and at times it can be a bit tedious to some.

    Basically bring back Lambert.

At least its possible to understand what Emery is saying

  8. I dont think the window has been bad.

Kamara and Carlos, good signing. Unlucky with injury

Coutinho also a reasonable signing with the price. Struggling mostly due to tactical setup I believe.

    Olsen makes sense

Augustinsson, makes sense but cant judge yet.

Bednarek and Dendoncker are "boring" signings, however they both provide experience and are good at their specific roles.

However its so many weird choices going on at Villa tactically that I am still filled with apathy.

And why wasnt Archer loaned out when he cant get minutes at all???

  9. I think Dendoncker for £12m is a good deal.

Doesnt matter thou, our manager will still continue using Mcginn and Ramsey in midfield, which basically means we are defacto only having Kamara there.

  10. We have so many ways to have a decent structure that doesnt let our midfield get picked apart every game. Literally so many differentr ways to play it its horrible that we are insisting on a system that pushes two of our CMs out towards the wing so Kamara is left alone vs either 2, 3 or 4 opponents.

Martinez, Cash, Chambers/Konsa, Mings, Digne in the back, then we can either play 4231-433-442-4411. And all we have to do is change the central midfield structure

    Kamara - Luiz
    Buendia - Coutinho - Bailey
    Watkins

    Nakamba - Kamara
    Bailey - Ings - Ramsey
    Watkins

    Nakamba - Kamara - Mcginn
    Buendia - Watkins - Bailey/Ramsey

    Buendia - Luiz - Kamara - Bailey/Ramsey
    Ings - Watkins

Literally EVERYTHING makes sense, except putting Mcginn and Ramsey as defacto wingbacks, and add in that Buendia/Coutinho also tries to play wingbacks so we are usually have 3 players take up the same bloody space.

Again I’m not posting about Gerrard and his record going back into last season.

Im posting about the fact that we are four games into a season.

    Four.

For me its a process, and I also take in to consideration last season since I need to see progress in our play. I dont at the moment, so for me to consider Gerrards position I am judging his entire period with us. Sure, this season isnt a disaster pointwise already since we only played 4 matches, however playwise its a disaster, and has been for quite some time. To judge that, I need to include last season.

Whilst yesterday was a bad result especially with Arsenal and City coming up.We we’re inches away from taking the lead in the first half and lost to deflected goal.

Reverse those pieces of bad luck and we are 8th.

Ive watched two Villa sides get relegated in my time both were horrendously bad full of players not capable of competing in the division they were playing in.

This squad is nowhere near that.

Do you think West Ham fans think they going down?

    Or Wolves?

Its a bad start to the season!

We win the first 4 a couple of years ago and finished 11th

We lost the first 4 in 97/98 and finished 7th (not 💯 on this but the year we signed Collymore)

If we had played well and just had margins against us, that would be fair.

However we have no system, horrible ingame decisions by management, horrible pregame decisions by management , horrible postgame decisions by management, 3 wins in the last 15 games, look like **** on the pitch, unrest among the players, growing distance between the supporters and the team

Its a clown fiesta at the moment. Change is needed.

  13. It is also a chance that without spending the FFP money we could spend last summer and this one, we could save up for next summer and sign more players of higher quality at the same time. Players who would not join if the others dont join (because better players wants to play with better players).

Personally I feel it is a long-term plan in every action of NSWE, and that makes me happy.

Sure, we could spend more money now, but if not spending now but spending in one year gives us a better chance in 2 seasons, I am all for it.

Zero net spend last two summers. Fact.

Spending heavily in infrastructure and academy.

It might be deemed new additions are not available to reasonable prices, and then we would rather wait. Or simply that right now we cant use money since we are using it on other things (like the to former points)

It takes time to build a well ran club, and I have not seen one indication towards our owners are not heading the correct path.

  15. Luiz took Mings job from the previous game

Mings left out to dry by the rest of the team vs Leeds

Luiz left out to dry by the rest of the team vs Newcastle

We need to fix the structure of the team (or implement whatever is the plan).

Neither Mings nor Luiz can defend vs 3-4 opponents without any support.

  16. Mings makes mistakes, yesterday quite a few

Myself wonders if we play on playing Digne and Ramsey on the left side as the two closest players to the LCB. Mings is bloody all alone back there, Digne is halfway to their deadline and Ramsey does not track back to cover that space left open. Leaving Mings with at times as many as 3 players to defend against.

Its seems weird... Konsa at least got Cash and Mcginn to help him

I know we are talking about spending big, which ofc would be nice, but there are some good players out of contract this summer (i havent listed the players who seem unrealistic for us):

    Goalkeeper: Onana (Ajax),

    He signed for Inter.
