I appreciate your pount about ollies work rate that cannot be faulted. But at the same time i remember tammy would ddop back deep to help out alot in the season.

He wasnt by any means a lazy striker. He is different to ollie too which i like. I do thing bith coukd be in the same team as well

I agree, Abraham isnt a lazy striker. His work rate is however just around average, I think we need more than that for how we play. Unless we do a 4-4-2 for a change later in the game (which I do not believe warrants spending 40 mill on right now).

Which areas of the pitch do you see us needing to strengthen the most?

As I mentioned earlier I would focus on LB (to compete with Targett), a DM and a CAM.  Pulling a random number from the hat I guess we will spend 100 mill this summer, since we spent alot the previous ones. I would then prefer 10 mill for LB, 45 mill DM 45 mill CAM, with interexchangable sums on DM and CAM. Striker is just not high enough on the agenda right now.

Im not saying i dont want buendia im saying if we had the choice of one 40m player it would be tammy.

My greatest concern with Tammy is that when Grealish came back from injury in the promotion run, I felt Tammy became invisible in many matches. I know he scored 5 goals in 10 victories in a row, but I feel he did not contribute as much in total. Abraham is a great player, but I do not think he is the kind of player who we need to compete with Watkins. We clearly need a work horse upfront, and Tammy does not fit that bill to me.

To clarify: another striker would be great, even thou I see 3 positions I would go for before that (LB, DM, CAM), but I would go for another guy than Tammy

  3. I doubt we will be in a relegation fight next season

I can see Palace, Watford, Newcastle, Burnley and West Ham battle it out. Swansea if they are promoted, Brentford will do good if they go up.

With the key signings I expect us to fight for top 6.

I am just buzzing, so way too positive now :D

  4. We bought Watkins last year, the best player in Championship that year.

Buendia has been the best player in Championship this year, and also has a record of performing in PL.

I do not understand if people say he isnt good enough, I can see the point if we should focus on other areas thou.

40 mill for Buendia isnt crazy or too much when Watkins came for 33.

jack will be at villa longer than southgate will be at england

I hope so, and I firmly believe so

Why? He was already picked before. If he was to miss out (dont think he will), it would be because he’s been out injured for 3 months.

Argument could be he feel he has been overlooked, and to prevent that in the future wants to secure it by being in a team that is top 6

I dont believe this will happen, I believe he will be picked, and that he stays here forever ❤️ Being a bit devils advocate here

  6. Awesome match yesterday! Great ending to an exciting season.

The match also shown me, it is a huge gap between u18 and the PL squad. Could clearly see there are much needed to be learned for Chuk, the potential is skyhigh! Cannot wait to see him more involved in the PL next season.

Cant wait to see these guys continue their journey

I'm having a right good laugh at the Norwich forums right now. The comments are gold.

Pretty similar to ours when it comes to Jack tbh.

I understand where they are coming from, but we will prove them wrong next season! And I hope we can get Buendia, because he is one hell of a player, Norwich has a gem there.

Zero chance Norwich sell Buendia now. Pereira maybe from the Baggies?

Who knows about Buendia. Since the rumours are so hot about him leaving them I can still dream :D

Not a fan of Pereira myself (nor am I of Lookman). Personally would prefer us to look abroad if those are options.

    I'll say it again.

We won't go out and break the bank  because Ollie might get an highly unlikely leg breaking injury.

We have Wesley and Keinan as options not to forget an up and coming Louie Barry in our ranks.

I would say it's more likely we give Elmo a 5 year contract than us signing Tammy Abraham.

Today is the day I never saw coming.

I am 100% agreeing with more than one of @villalad21 posts :D

Personally would be dissappointed if we prioritize a striker over in particular DM, AM and LB.

My dream is still Buendia and Berge, then whatever on LB that can push Targett.

Seen quite a few Villa fans  expecting top 6 next season.

    That's a bit much imo.

Top 4 is pretty established and Leicester, Spurs, West Ham are both quite a bit ahead of us in terms of their squads.

WE should look and expect to be in and around Everton and Leeds imo. Don't think either of them have great squads. Ff we are miles off them 2 next season then that's not good enough.

If we finish around 7th-8th next season that would be a very good season.

What the goal is and what you expect is two different things (not saying you said otherwise).

My goal for next season is to see us fight for top 6

Squadwise I can see us compete with anyone bar City, Liverpool og Chelsea (I believe United is performing way above any reason, their squad is so average). I expect us to fight for Europe, thats what owners, players and Smith have said :)

Lets go next season! Some key signings and we are on our way

I'll react in the same way to any perceived sleight to our status. I don't think we're entitled to other clubs players, any particular league position, or any of that other shit. I do think we're entitled to respect as a top club. If you don't agree, meh.

Thinking like a top 6 club? You're damn right I do. Not of recent new chav money times, but of all time. Again, I won't apologise.

Also, I have some previous with Norwich fans dissing us. Probably brought up some bile from somewhere. Anyway, carry on.

I 100% agree we should be respected. Personally I am just fed up with the ESL clubs arrogance, and I do my part in not showing that to other teams fans. We all know we will get the new money part thrown at us when we get to Europe in the next few years anyways, other teams fangroups wont care about our history.

I just hope our awesome fan group rise above it, and show other teams respect.

Norwich fans love their Buendia, probably in some way close to the feeling we have with Grealish. He has done insanely much for them, and he has been lojal with promotion and relegation. What Norwich will do with Buendia now? I dont know, I dont know how Covid affected their economy, I dont know their situation, last time they were up they barely invested and prepared to be relegated as soon as they went up. Purely for financial reasons to be ready for the promotion they planned on this year.

I would give alot to get Buendia thou, 40 million seems a reasonable price if you ask me

I'm sick of their dismissive attitude to Villa and make no apologies. Heard it too often. The difference with Villa / Grealish is we're a big club who don't want or need to sell.

Its the exact same. If you are sick of others attitude towards us, do not portray the same attitude towards other clubs

Norwich need to remember that they're a little shithouse club and we could buy and sell them 100 times over.

Their "best player" is not much of a claim.

Lets refrain from that kind of words

Exact same the ESL clubs say about us. Norwich should be commended for how they have been run.

Buendia is a great player. We bought Watkins for 33, anything below 40 is an insult to them even with Covid

  14. With the plan for the academy and Purslows comments early this season I am 100% sure its a plan. I except the likes of Chuk, JPB, Kesler and Barry to get gametime next season. Ramsey will probably go out on loan.

The lack of games is the very point that it was a gamble. He could easily have been any one of dozens of keepers that don't live up to the hype.

This fact is glossed over since he has been so good from day one.

It does give you a great deal of comfort in the process that they use to identify players!

Guess we just disagree on how much of a gamble it was :D

I have so much faith in the process of identifying players, I do not think we have done any "bad" transfers since we got promoted, bar perhaps Engels, but again at that price its not even bad

  16. 24 minutes ago, Nigel said:

None of us knew martinez would be at the martinez level before we bought him.

The point being if the process says this is the player we want then I'm sure they will be an improvement.

    I  trust the process 100%

I do not agree on the Martinez level, clearly he surpassed all expectations but we did know we bought Heaton level of a goalkeeper (even thou consistency could be questioned due to lack of games)

Edit: My point of clear quality signings still stands, I think we need that for pushing Europe :)
